With Jones out for the year and, now, Justin Coleman traded the door may be open for Kenny Moore (who had a good camp) or Will Likely (who was an all Big Ten punt returner) to make the team.
Unless, of course, they pick up another CB and/or PR in trade or waivers.

Anyone have "who is going to replace Cyrus Jones" as one of their big concerns heading into the regular season? I am concerned. He was suppose to be explosive out of the punt return game if he ever learned to catch the football in the air.

Lewis is more a kick returner though, I have no idea if he has done it before. I would love to see Cooks try it out. Once that guy gets to full speed, no one catches him.

Possibly use him in close games or in the playoffs.

I am surprised that we haven't yet made a move for a DE. Only bringing in a bunch of no names so far. Moving on from Elay so quickly I thought that was to get another guy and give him sometime to learn the system. Everyday I expect to see a trade and it just hasn't happend yet. None of the no names have made big plays in games either. There hasn't been any Rufus Johnsons performances. There will be about 1000 players cut by tomorrow. I'm sure they have their eyes on a few. It's a given they do. I was thinking more along the lines of someone a little more proven. The type of guy if he does get released will have a lot of teams after him. A late round pick is a small price to pay to make sure you get your player. Look at Elay he was claimed right off the bat.

Cooks is terrible in YAC- he doesn't make people miss or break tackles so I'm guessing he'd be a bad punt returner.
It will be interesting to see if he can develop that part of his game at all.

Wow, that's a telling trade in regards to Jimmy. If it wasn't 100% clear already. www.nfl.com/draft/2015/profiles/phillip-dorsett?id=2552424Dorsett has elite speed and had a great 3 cone drill time. Can play outside and in the slot. Overall we traded a guy not likely to play for another big play weapon. Nice move. At the same time we have now traded for a WR and two special team players. Still no DE's.

Interesting no De's. I guess it works somehow. I believe one year he played wide receivers at the corners. Maybe Bill is going with the NBA style score more than the other guys. Who needs rebounders/ DE's.

Hopefully Carr makes the practice squad... really like him but him on the PS is much better for the team if he can get there.
Glad they kept Hollister over O'Shaunessey but I'm a bit surprised they got rid of both him and Bolden....
Akeem Ayers got cut from Indy.. he fit really well here in 2014

Brissett traded to Indy for Phillip Dorsett Patriots found their new punt returner and another option at wide receiver. It's great that they found a guy that could fill both roles and they did it by trading a guy they had no use for in Brisset.

Akeem Ayers got cut from Indy.. he fit really well here in 2014 I wonder if there is a guy or 2 that might still go on IR. Remember, any player on IR before deadline is not eligible to return. After, they are. McClellan, for example, was starting to show up on projections as a candidate for IR. Keeping on the 1st 53 allows them to put him on anD be eligible. Bolden could be a candidate to replace such a player.

I think we will be seeing a lot of Hightower at the DE spot this year.

If nothing else, we should have the best special teams unit in the league this year.

Carr and Moore have been claimed. Karras, Grissom, Jones and Travis to practice squad. It sucks losing Carr, but we could easily get him back. As players claimed on cut down day are cut shortly after a large amount of the time.
Those 4 are huge though. That's our G, DE and S depth. Areas that need It more than WR.

I really like the pick up of Marsh. He was in a great system and could learn from great players like Bennett. He worked out with Bennett and he said watch out this guy is ready to play. He also is a very good special teams player. The only thing is trading basically Coleman and a 5th for him seems really high. He has 3 career sacks, all coming last year. Compared to what we traded for Elay who had more production I'm surprised. Let's hope he is the next Vrabel/Nink.
Every player we acquired is linked to special teams in Dorsett, Marsh, Flowers and Bedemosi. Dorsett and Marsh provide depth and should help at WR and DE. Seems like a lot of moves for a team that already traded for O'Shaunessey, signed Burkhead and has two special team only players in Slater and Ebner. I like keeping Hollister over O'Shaunessey. With Gronk and Allen we needed a third TE that can catch, it was almost a most have type thing. The thing is Flowers is a special teams only player, he's no more a LB than Slater is a WR or Ebner is a S. So is he that much better than O'Shaunessey ? Sure it gives you on paper more depth, but we are in trouble if Flowers is playing LB. Grissom played a ton of special teams, you could have kept him on 53 man roster. We better have a great special teams unit because we have spent a good amount of draft capital on it.
