Porcello just gives up way too much contact to run into sustained success. The guy is 4.5 ERA pitcher. His year last year was a outlier that had a lot of luck. Trade him this off-season.

Porcello just isn't good enough to stay with a guy as good as Cobb. I had a bad feeling about this game before it even started.

i mean that run is huge at this point. I would file a protest before the end of the game.

Well even if the Sox got that run on that controversial call on that bad replay call, the Sox would still be losing.
This loss is all on Porcello (if they lose). He just hasn't been good enough all year. The stats say so. The eyes say so.
I'd start Eduardo Rodriguez over Porcello in the playoffs with Fister being the number 3 starter.

Cash making a mistake by pulling Cobb early. Cobb had Moreland's number all game.
I bet Farrell goes to Chris Young off the bench to pinch hit for Moreland here.

Farrell sticks with Moreland who doesn't hit lefties in his career. Moreland grounds into a double play.
What a idiot.

If this team had last year's offense they'd have 96 wins at this point. At least.

Why is Holt playing over Lin? Amazing that he is still on the roster never mind that Farrell continues to play him in a pennant race. Same goes for Young.

What in the world is John Farrell doing by putting in one of his best relievers in a game where the Sox are DOWN BY 3 RUNS?!!

Why is Brock Holt still hitting?
Holt literally has no business getting any playing time with the rosters at this size.
Absolutely ridiculous.

If this team had last year's offense they'd have 96 wins at this point. At least. If this team had last year's best manager still in the dugout, Torey Lovullo, they'd have at least 10 extra wins.

This is a big game people. The Yankees are up now. Yes. They are all appear to have extra meaning at this point. But you will drive yourself crazy watching the games back column. They are going to play 162 games and the only time that column is relevant is either, when you have clinched ahead of game 162, or after game 162 itself. Tampa is a good team, a sweep is very difficult. We are in a good spot.

It's about the fact that our team is being run by a guy who is actively putting us in positions to fail over and over again.

If you're not going to use your expanded rosters in September, then what's the point of Farrell having expanded rosters to begin with?

This is a game where the Sox need to have.

I can agree, as my post reflected, but i think the danger is putting to fine a point on that decision. In the end, the umps cost us a run. Porcello gave up too much hard contact. Offense struggling again. It all works together, IMO.

He doesn't use his best pinch hitting options in key spots. He leads off one of his worst hitters in the second half in Xander Bogaerts. He would rather use Holt over Lin in a key game (Lin is a better hitter at this point) and then he'll want to play his worst offensive player in the 7th spot in the batting order (Holt) over two hitters who are clearly better than Holt in Travis and JBJ.
