I'm scoreboard watching, but the Celtics are getting handled. Is Tatum and Horford even playing? Well, Kyrie is out with a potential concussion and possibly a broken nose. Jesus. What is going on?!!

No Horford, no Irving , Smart going 1 for 8 and Tatum going 2 for 6 will do it. With Brown and Morris being quite. Larkin is keeping us somewhat close.

It doesn't help that Jaylen looks like he forgot how to play basketball. Avery also loved to do that from time to time, it's the curse of the 2 guard lol.

They had 0 business winning this game, this was seriously impressive and still can't believe it.

How do you even win that game? Amazing, just amazing.

Defense is how and why they won. Would love to know the last time we won a game shooting 35.7% from the field. When the guys taking the most shots all had bad nights. Brown was 3 for 14 for 10 points, Smart was 3 for 16 for 8 points and Rozier was 3 for 12 for 16 points. Irving goes down and Larkin steps up for 16 points on 5 for 8 shooting. The depth is crazy good.

Was an impressive performance; terrible in so many ways but the fight they showed was great.
Stevens rotations are always interesting to watch. Who’s in the game during the first part of the fourth? Yabusele... he made some nice plays too. His ability to keep his entire team engaged is phenomenal.

Ainge has done a lot of fantastic moves, but upgrading from Doc to Stevens and getting a 1st round pick for his troubles was a masterpiece.

That win was all about defense, what a big character win that shows the value of Stevens. Like I said, defense doesn't take a night off.

Lol this streak will never end. It'll keep going to 13 at least against the Nets, or should.

Its nice to win these last 2 so short handed but they really need Kyrie and Al both. The offense is putrid without them.

Theis has been a revelation. Rim protection, fundamentally sound rebounding, pick-and-roll, even legitimate three-point range. Big man depth was a major question mark entering the season, and he's shored that up nicely.

It might partly be the homer in me, but I never liked fouls like the offensive foul called on Tatum near the end. The defender is pretty much all over him allowing him no space to move, if you allow that you should allow every contact that happens afterwards. Tatum's arms weren't extended, the only way to avoid the guy's face would be not moving at all. I don't like it.

Another great aspect to all these young guys and or rookies playing this well already is the team control and cost is a huge bargain moving forward. They could keep this team together for a while. How many of these guys are contributing more value over cost and how does that not grow even more significant as they develop? Theis is a huge bargain already and I think his minutes should increase.

Baynes and Larkin are the only unrestricted free agents after this season. Way too early, but my guess is Baynes is back and Larkin earns a bigger role and more money somewhere else. Marcus Smart will be a RFA and my guess is they resign him for a year. Morris will be an unrestricted free agen. Theis contract is up but they can offer him a QO if 1.8m as a RFA.
Point is this team definitely has another full year mostly together if they choose to be then the following year it’s still mostly together but could start to change.

They are going to have to start putting Brad Stevens into the box score - with loads of assists.
One of these games they won't have that last finishing push...but we have to love what we see.

He's what I wanted Kelly Olynik to be years ago. What a refresh. Rebounding is a strength. Rebounding is surprisingly a strength given that the C's are still the NBA's shortest team. You may be approaching this the wrong way. If it was all about height, then the Round Mound of Rebound would never have led the league or finished his career north of 11 rebounds a game. It's about positioning, muscle, and athleticism. These Celtics have that with a bunch of guys who can jump out of their shoes including Theis. Check out the drive on this highlight reel at 50 seconds in (also worth it just for the German rap background): When he's in there with some combination of Horford, Baynes, Brown, Tatum, Smart, and even Rozier, they haul down a bunch of boards. What makes the German kid special is his work on the offensive glass. That's the coin of the realm and he's got a bunch of pocket change so far. He was voted defensive player of the year in Germany's Federal Basketball League. The fans have gotten a taste of that also. You can check that out on the highlights right from the start as he gets three blocks off the same player underneath the basket. He's definitely got a future in the NBA and it's surprising he went un-drafted in 2013

All things being equal though, height is an advantage. Having us in the top 5 rebounding teams while still being shortest in collective stature is remarkable. Is it sustainable....given the naked facts? We'll see.

The 2013 draft was very deep in international talent 13 players total getting drafted, with 7 in first round. Guys like Adetokoubo, Nogueira, Schroder and Gobert. He was like 6'8.5'' and 220 pounds. Small ball wasn't like it is today. His type used to be a tweener in NBA. SF size, but really a big. If he was in last years draft he would have been drafted most likely. Guys in chat rooms really had him nailed in 2012 for what he is. forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=1205129What really shocks me is that no other team even wanted this guy? He takes a two year minimum deal, with only one year guaranteed? The average fan couldn't tell as he was ranked in the 80s and 90s of that 2013 draft. Zero scouting reports, no updates. Heck I can't even find his wingspan, which I really want to know. Yet scouts from other teams didn't see this? A perfect big for the new NBA? It feels like we got very lucky. Getting a guy that can rebound at a high level, can really play D including blocking shots and can even shoot the ball. Can we maintain our rebounding? I see no reason why we can't. Theis isn't going to stop rebounding, neither is Brown, Tatum, Smart, Rozier and Baynes. It's not just one player, just a group of athletes that other teams are having trouble dealing with. When you are going against Brown, Smart and Rozier that's hard for any team in the league. Rozier alone is a beast rebounding.

I don’t think that many teams have deep international scouting teams. Theis was a 25 year old playing in the German League, not exactly the best league in Europe and it’s not easy to figure out who’s going to translate from the European game to the NBA game.
Basically, it doesn’t surprise me.
