I haven't been this pissed about a loss in a really long time. Of all the games to lose...

Maybe February they’ll start trying on defense again.

4 (soon to be 5) in a row now, I'm glad I didn't stay up to watch the game. Losing to terrible teams no less.

There D wasn't horrible like against the Magic. Kuzma, Clarkson and even Randle just made some very hard shots. Kuzma is almost unstoppable when he gets hot. At his size, with his skill, you can't stop him from getting his shot off. Randle just dominated the paint, getting 14 boards, 5 offensive in 26 minutes, along with 14 points. Kinda hard to play very good D when you get out rebounded like they did.
I don't get why the Lakers want to unload Randle and Clarkson. Ingram, Kuzma, Randle, Ball, Clarkson, Hart, and even Zubac is a very nice group of young players. They just need a new coach.
Looks like Tatum might be hitting that Rookie wall.

They let up over 30 points in the fourth quarter to a trash Lakers team. That’s just turrible.

Did you watch the game? Kuzma had a large amount of those and they played the free throw game at the end giving them a bunch of points. The effort level last night compared to against the Magic was night and day. The Magic just got easy basket after easy basket. The Lakers just made a ton of hard shots. You can call them trash all you want, but Clarkson, Kuzma and Randle can just flat out score. Clarkson looked a lot better than I remembered, he looks like a young Crawford. He can just get a shot off over anyone, at anytime. We just got unlucky that all 3 had good games. If we could control the paint we still easily win this game. We need a Randle type player!

A small mea culpa about my previous, for whatever reason I thought the Celtics were playing the Rockets tonight lol. They could and downright should beat the Clippers tonight.

The Lakers are not going to convey their 2-5 pick to Boston unless something radical happens. Since Lavar's outburst against Walton, the team has galvanized even without Lonzo. I think that they have won 7 of the last 9. Randle, Clarkson, Lonzo and vunderkind, Kuzma (who can shoot and is explosive), make them a decent team. Would we trade Tatum for Kuzma? Would the Lakers? If the Lakers want to shed salary toward signing 2 Max guys next year by trading both Clarkson and Randle, that might drop them back....I hope that happens. I know some have suggested trading for Randle with a future second round pick, but I can't see us getting a very young Randle for only our late first pick this year.

Don't forget the age difference. Kuzma played what 3 years in college? What do you think Randle cost? First round pick, maybe a young player. He is a restrictive free agent next year. Noel went for a 2nd round pick and a bad player.

Man if Tatum is hitting a wall lately, what has Jaylen been hitting in January? A monster truck?

Yeah I have come to the realization that the only way we get the Laker pick is with some lottery luck.

Man if Tatum is hitting a wall lately, what has Jaylen been hitting in January? A monster truck? Brown just needs to improve his handle. He's two fast for his own good. Had to be 2-3 times last night were he drove and lost the ball. Would love to see them work on posting him up more. Thus getting him closer to the basket to drive, not starting at the 3 point line. He had the drive of the game against the Magic, which was about as good as it gets.

Agreed, Brown reminds me very much of Avery because of the unbelievably poor dribbling, terrible passing and extreme inconsistency game to game. Not sure I can complain about a taller Avery, but it feels like he could be more than that.

On Cavs news, old pal Crowder got benched, Tristan is expected to start again. 82games rates Tristan as somehow even more useless than Crowder this season and I hated the idea of Love as a 5, but he has been just bad there instead of awful so I guess I can always trust Coach Lue to make the stupidest decision.
Do you want to help the team? Take Smith out of the rotation completely because he's not an NBA player right now and play Korver/Wade more. Then bench Crowder because he sucks and start Jeff Green.

Sold high on IT also, this mornings report about him and the rest of the Cavs is comical. DA is truly the master of the NBA deal.
Twolves for KG, Supersonics for RA, Nets for the picks, Dallas gets Rondo, Sixers for Tatum and a pick and Cavs for Erving. Without getting into great detail, which I will leave to umass, that is 6 trades where the Celts have won by a wide margin. I am sure there are more that I missed but those are the big ones.
Looking forward to seeing what is next if any GM is willing to take the chance of looking bad.

Crowder, IT and Avery were all sold high. Granted the return for Avery hasn't been anything to write home about, but he has been ok at best with the Pistons.

I feel or hope we have yet to see Morris play at 100%. Seen some flashes, but overall he has been a big disappointment.
Anyone else see the report that LeBron tried to get Irving to stay, and Irving said he would have knee surgery if they didn't trade him? Is his knee that bad?

From what I've read, it's an ancient injury at this point since it's the 2015 one. I don't think his knee is toast, I think he played that card to get traded. I feel like we're still missing something in that story, something really bad happened that goes beyond the reported reasons.

Its hard to make a real case to extend Smart when he's pulling this kind of stuff. The team really needs him right now too. They got a tough stretch coming up.

Tough break for Cousins, but in the case of the Celtics, I don't think it affects their team at all.
I don't think he was ever targeted by the Celtics at any point since last year.

It’s exactly the type of thing that makes it easier to extend him. Regardless, it’s clear how this is going to go. He’s restricted, so he will resign here for 1 year. Most likely we give him a big one year deal 15m+ to both keep him happy AND to give us a tradable salary. Right now the teams biggest issue on the trade market is matchable salaries. Then after next year he will hit the open market and we can resign him with bird rights. Another team will have to use cap space so his salary will be depressed because of his lack of scoring and crap like this.

Cousins was never a target. The only way people are praying it applies to the Celtics is by AD wanting out. If anything, I think it gives the Pelicans are better chance of keeping him. Tough timing for him with FA upcoming. Wonder if he will still get a full max... Achilles for a mobile big man is rough.
