Right now, you could throw two straight fastballs down the middle like Cobb did and strike JBJ out. If you are striking out on 3 straight 92 mph fastballs that are down the middle you probably don’t belong in a major league lineup

Mookie is awesome! And Showalter is an idiot too.

More solo homeruns for Mookie because Vazquez and JBJ are pitchers at the plate right now.

Rusney Castillo would be nice.

at this point JBJ is getting beat by low 90's fastballs down the middle. I really think a week in the minors would help. Unless there is a physical issue, it appears he has lost all confidence.

Pomeranz is not good right now.

Pomeranz is not getting out of this one. Not sure what he needs to “discover” this start but I hope he finds it soon.

Rusney Castillo would be nice. What are the chances of this?

Pomeranz is not good right now. Pomeranz is very lucky tonight though, at least so far.

Put Pomeranz in the bullpen and start Stephen Wright.

Rusney Castillo would be nice. What are the chances of this? Zero. The luxury tax implications mean he will stay at AAA.

No control with FB right now for Drew.

THAT PLAY is exactly why Vazquez is overated defensively. Right there. You kidding me Vazquez?

Is Drew Pomeranz ever not pitching out of a jam? He’s even in a jam to lead off hitters.

I’m so glad we are starting Vazquez because of his defense

This is demoralizing. Just a bunch of self-inflicted errors early and now four runs in the whole to on eof the very worst teams in baseball.

the organization has to be open minded about replacing Pomeranz in the rotation if this continues for much longer.

I’m so glad we are starting Vazquez because of his defense I know I’m harping on this topic, but I can’t help it. In the pregame show Alex Speier was discussing the catching position and he commented that the team (or maybe the pitching staff) had lots of confidence in Vazquez and especially in Leon to call a good game. It has to be more than that because nothing at all prevents Lavangie from calling the pitches from the bench. Unless Swihart is stupid he can learn what the general preferences are for each of the pitchers and assume those duties fairly quickly. Is he that terrible a “receiver “? Who says so? But you’d have to actually play him to do that. It has to be something else. It seems so irrational.

I, for one, am so excited to have the knuckleball back in my life. It’s just such a wonderful, exciting, dependable pitch.
