Hanley ramirez WPA last night was -.236 (He was second to only Colome last night lol) His OPS for the season is .724, he's been a liability in the field and on the basepath too and in 191 PA he gave the team exactly 0 WAR. His GB% for the season is 50.3%, for the month of May it's almost 60% despite playing next the poster boy of launch angle and being coach by a proponent of the air ball. Giving him AB (not even batting 3rd) so his year option could vest is borderline mal practice. And yet he's still a lot better than Nunez, who is also getting every damn game over Holt. Lin is better than Nunez too and he's in AAA but the problem with playing Hanley and batting him 3rd on the top of that, is that you're helping allocate a big chunk of ressources from next year to a replacement level player. You're hurting the team winning chances this year and next. That's bad decision making.

Great defense and plate discipline at 2nd base are back* on the menu boys!
*and mediocre base running and a few GIDP here and there too but it's PEDEY!

We really need him back. Will be interesting to see where Cora puts him in the lineup. I’ve been a Pedroia critic in the past thinking we could do better. But after seeing what we have gotten out of 2nd base without him I’m actually excited for his return. It will be helpful to get good defense and making the pitcher earn outs from that spot in the lineup.

Hanley's season. WPA is per 600 PA. (HBP) is when Gray hit him on the wrist in the first and he left the game.
This is stranger than fiction, truly.
Dates G PA wRC+ WPA to 4/12 (HBP) 12 48 160 13.63 4/14 to 4/30 14 62 122 1.16 5/1 to 5/12 10 47 73 -2.81 5/14 to 5/23 8 34 -18 -12.88 Not being facetious here, are we going with he is slightly injured then? I think that is what you are saying, apologize if not. Cause if that's true, and I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt, he needs to be rested. If his rest (heal) disrupts his option, so be it.

Last time he was hot was like 2 years ago and those numbers were great just because he feasted on LHP. He's been OPSing in the low .700 for a season and a 1/3 now and we're dangerously getting close to triggering his option. People need to stop thinking about the Marlins Hanley, the version we have sucks and should be benched (DFA'd if you ask me) Hanley's season. WPA is per 600 PA. (HBP) is when Gray hit him on the wrist in the first and he left the game.

I think Hanley's wrist's are fine however and I think he is a mediocre hitter. Radiohix does a great job of pointing out every one of his flaws.

Snell looks like a young Scott Kazmir. It's going to hurt to face this guy the next 3 years at least.

We are going to be in tough tonight. Snell is a good pitcher and we don’t hit lefties well

More horrible defense in LF for Martinez. Glad they are playing him there "just to keep him happy."

This game might be lost in the first inning. Got to give up next to nothing if Snell is going to cruise like this.

Good Lord. He wasn't expecting that toss, that's the only thing I can think of. He needed to treat home like a 1st basemen, this is basic stuff.

You know it is a small price to pay for the way the guy mashes the ball. Sometimes you have to give a little, to get a lot.

There has been research on this. I know some guys have posted this before. I gotta disagree with you here, brother.

I'm just taking a wild guess here though brother and guess that he would still be one of the best hitters in baseball if he didn't play the field very much. Maybe he'd get bored being a fulltime DH, but it would help him and the Sox if he played there the least amount of times possible.

Game over. Nunez is even worse at second base than JDM is at LF, which is saying a lot.
