We got ump jacked in game 1 so now we're even.

If the call on the field had been a home run, I don’t think that gets overturned either. It’s a coin flip. We were fortunate the call on the field was in our favor. That’s my take. And as some have pointed out, this is such an unnecessary controversy the MLB finds itself in. If you don’t want fans to interfere, don’t allow them to be able to reach into the field of play. Why is this still an issue after all these years? Those fans last night didn’t do anything that any of us on this forum wouldn’t have done. If you think you wouldn’t have attempted to catch a home run ball that is falling into your lap, you’re lying to yourself. They also wouldn't likely have squeezed another inning out of Porcello or tried to get 6 outs from Kimbrel had the Astros scored those runs. A lot of Yankees and Astros fans are acting like this was why the Astros lost. It's one call in the first inning. There's no way of knowing how the game would have played out. The Astros lost because Correa didn’t step on second base and Kemp was an idiot.

I'm bummed we didn't get a chance to see Mookie catch it. Because I think he would have, I'm bummed out there was interference. On top of it, we would have seen the catch highlighted for many years.

I had no ability to stay awake last night even though it was an incredibly exciting game. I just wanted to say one thing...
The world is a better place when Jackie Bradley Jr. hits dingers.
That's all.

Red Sox had a controversial play - too close to overturn on replay - cost them two runs in game 3 and were good enough to win it anyway. Astros were not yesterday. Thats on them. Why they're so up in arms that they lost in regulation instead of potentially tying the game and losing in extras is beyond me. Boston has been the better team the entire series and needs to be one more time...

Just so everyone knows- Kimbrel is 4/4 in Save Opportunities this postseason. He's money. Benintendi gets the save last night.

Matt Barnes has pitched three days in a row three times in his career, including twice this year, when he totaled 47 and then 51 pitches. He has 21 so far, so he could go as many as 2 IP. More likely, he could be asked to get a 4 or 5 out save if needed (although obviously they'd prefer 3).
Joe Kelly has never done it, so he probably joins Kimbrel an Brasier as unavailable. Price, E-Rod, Workman, Hembree, and Barnes should be enough innings.
This game will be a classic get-away day game. If the Sox stumble upon a win, so much the better, but I think Cora banking on two to win one at Fenway, and Game 6, if they get there, will be battle stations and all hands on deck. I thin you can't let it go to a game 7.

If the Sox are fortunate enough to make it to the WS, has there been any word on Wright's knee for that series?

Yeah the length of postseason games is a problem. Not for me, seeing I am unemployed and acting as a caregiver for my 90 year-old parents so I can stay up as late as I want, but for people who work and the kids.
Game 4 was one of the most exciting postseason games I ever witnessed but how many people were actually able to watch it in its entirety? I don't know what can be done, other than starting the games earlier, to fix this problem. It is tough to build momentum in the popularity of the game when so many end up not being able to enjoy it.
Anyhoo, looking forward to tonight's game.

Can we all just sit back and appreciate that last night's game was an all time classic, possibly one of the best / most unique and amazing playoff games of all time?

Just so everyone knows- Kimbrel is 4/4 in Save Opportunities this postseason. He's money. Benintendi gets the save last night. What's amazing about how bad Kimbrel was is that he nonetheless had two of the most momentous defensive plays of the season backing him up. If Mookie doesn't make his play, there's a good chance we lose. If Beni doesn't make his play, we almost definitely lose. Meanwhile, that was one hell of a managing job by Cora. I'm not even sure if it was a great job or a crazy job, but it was one hell of a job. For all the griping about it, he was practically forced to stick with Porcello as long as he did. (Very funny to read over all the complaints about that. Like, did people not realize that taking Porcello out early in the game meant more Hembree or Workman late in the game?) I don't even know how I feel about going to Kimbrel for the two-inning save. But doing so, and sticking with it to the end, took some monstrous cojones.

Tonight: David Price can redefine himself. If he can go deep and the Sox win? He wipes out the narrative. I actually have a good feeling (*ducking*).

The tweet of the night came from Mrs. Price. When she saw him raking the bullpen mound she tweeted that he never does that at home.

Here's the NY Times report on Altuve's shot to right:
In the bottom of the first, Altuve lifted a long fly ball off Boston’s starter, Rick Porcello, with George Springer on first base. As the ball soared to deep right field, Betts jumped for the ball. His arm rose above the wall and his glove made contact with the hand of a fan who was also reaching for the ball, closing Betts’s glove and preventing him from making the catch.
That's exactly what Betts was explaining to Bradley while the play was being reviewed.
It's interesting. In Chicago they chase fans out of the city when stuff like that happens. In Houston? They'll probably erect a statue to the guy.

I made it to work on time and am ready for another 5 hour game !! I think I am still amped from Benintendi's incredible catch. I feel like I can run a marathon.

What's going to stink though is the Sox probably are not going to get a draft choice for losing Kimbrel to FA, or even worse he comes back on a QO. As of right now, there's no way I offer Kimbrel the QO. It's really weird how bad Dombrowski is at building bullpens.

That was a great catch by Benintendi to save the Red Sox last night. However, if he misses it, then all three Astros' runners likely score and the series is 2-2. Think about how much different today would feel if that happened. How long before someone creates a t-shirt "Beni and the Catch"?

Yeah he does seem to have issues building pens but maybe it gets overplayed? In 2013 that was on the manager for not bringing in the lefty to face Papi. He got a lefty specifically to pitch to a guy like Papi and the manager didn't use him. Last year Farrell chose not to pitch Reed in game 4 in the 8th. Reed in his last reg season 24 games - he pitched 24.33 innings and only let up 5 runs. You can't blame him for Farrell being bad. The Sox got Reed specifically to be their "8th inning" guy and Farrell didn't use him.
