More importantly - Pats drip tampering charges and Texans won’t pursuit Cassario. My guess is they had something decent on them... cassario is a guy i was worried to lose

If I was Kraft, i’d finally give him a better title, like assistant GM and a nice pay bump with an extension. Made it clear that when Bill retires he will be the GM with Josh the head coach. That would keep everything in tack.

I’m not sure, I’ve seen one report where he was interested in the Texans job. Seems to me like they would have tried to work out some sort of draft pick compensation if both sides wanted it but then again they traded Jimmy for a lot less than they should have and didn’t franchise and trade Flowers so what do I know?

Tom Curran pretty much called BS on this... Brady is certainly supporting Gordon and being a good friend to him but he’s not fostering him like this suggests. Fostering suggests he had him living at his home and is watching over him.

This is one of those throw away lines in an article that really catches my attention.
“For the purposes of this discussion, let’s just saw that Winovich will be in the mix with Simon, Derek Rivers and Trent Harris for weakside edge, but I would also not count out Shilique Calhoun. The 6-4, 251-pound former Raiders third-round pick (2016, 75th overall) really showed up in offseason practices and seems to have caught the eye of the coaching staff.”
Shilique, or a player like him, probably won’t get much press then all of a sudden they are on the team “out of no where” when all alone they’ve been highly in the mix.

"Gronkowski, 30, told The Rich Eisen Show last week he’s enjoying retirement, but said, “I can’t really say how I’m going to feel about it when the games start rolling around and everything.”
And.....then there's this.....opens eyes...

Seen a bunch of reports that Gronk has lost a ton of weight and the pictures seem to confirm it.

Seen a bunch of reports that Gronk has lost a ton of weight and the pictures seem to confirm it. First, I think this is a non story. If Gronk is coming back it’s not happening before, during or immediately after Training camp. It’s midway thru the season or later. Second, he can put back on weight in no time if he wanted to. He’s got access to the good stuff that will be out of his system long before any testing gets done.

Seen a bunch of reports that Gronk has lost a ton of weight and the pictures seem to confirm it. All of those reports are based on one picture which he commented on. He said he was down a little, but it isn't anywhere near as dramatic as the 5000 stories say it was. He said it must have been the angle and said he hasn't been under 250 since he was in high school. I tried to find his comments, but it's buried in those 5000 articles all saying the same thing.

If Gronk is coming back it’s not happening before, during or immediately after Training camp. It’s midway thru the season or later. I think this story is big. When a player wants to truly walk away from the game, he doesn't usually practice, think, or even talk about the game. David Ortiz is example number one of that. He stayed away from everything for one full year just so he wouldn't be a distraction. This story shows that Gronk is still thinking about football and Tom Brady is still in his ear about playing this year. This story just comfirms for me that he's coming back, but he doesn't want to deal with the wear and tear of a long football season because of the toll his body has taken throughout the years.

NFL owners want 18 game schedule with a limit of 16 games per player. No words for how dumb that is.

NFL owners want 18 game schedule with a limit of 16 games per player. No words for how dumb that is. Imagine having to play meaningful games at the end of the season without your #1 QB because of that rule. Yeah, you can plan for it some, but pretty much no team has backups that are good enough at key positions and then injuries could make it a lot worse. What teams want to throw 2 games away? And then it's freaking strategy about which games to do it for? I'm already on the fence about how long I'm going to keep watching the NFL depending on the pass interference replay looming disaster.

So that's the owners way of increasing profits like crazy. More games, but no extra pay for players as they still play the same amount of games. So stupid, like Jimed said what you doing with no QB for two games? You going to increase the roster sizes?

It's not happening unless the players say it's okay. What would it take for the players to agree? Money, and lots of it. Also, the rosters would have to expand to something like 60 because of the extra injuries. Preseason games would probably be set at 2 and they might get rid of the bye in the playoffs. So, a Super Bowl team could end up playing 22 games in a season. What's the worst that could happen? Someone dying on the field?
Then there is, is 2 preseason games enough to evaluate the players? How much money is enough?

Well the players would get more for the same amount of games. That's the owners selling point. Same amount of games, revenue will go way up, so they get more. Yet they can't demand a higher percentage of revenue. If you eliminate the two preseason games, it's not a longer season. You just switch the two weeks of practice. My head hurts trying to figure out how many more players you'd need. Is it you can only play in 16 games or dress for 16 games? Like 60 might do it, but you'd likely need to increase the practice squad size also and allow guys to move back and forth without being claimed.
My biggest issue is NFL games matter more. Like they only play 16 games and teams go full out for all of them. 9-7 and 10-6 is the difference between no playoffs and the playoffs many years. Now you'll have all these games where guys are sitting out. You'd have to stagger it. Can you imagine a few big name QBs getting injured because teams had to sit their top OTs? You plan a certain way, yet injuries hit and bam your starting a practice squad player or something like that.
At the same time, if any team would gain an advantage doing this it would be the Patriots. I hate the idea, but man I love to see how Bill would approach this.

Just wanted to revisit this. Tex, I know you disagreed with this when I brought it up before but it’s still floating around and being reported so I wanted to put it back out there. This could be why we haven’t seen a Brady extension. “We’ll have some Sunday thoughts on Patriots pass receivers, the stupid 18-game proposal and why Bill Belichick isn’t just letting Nick Caserio go, but first, we’ll start on where things stand in relation to Tom Brady’s new contract. 1. As is the case every few months around here, the question inevitably turns to … hey, when is Tom Brady going to get that contract extension? Well, it’s like I reported on March 12: Most involved are convinced that Brady’s contract can’t be redone until August at the earliest because of the most recent restructure. Brady was given that ridiculous (incentives … really?) restructure around Aug. 9 last year. That’s about the same time he got a two-year extension the year before. Brady’s new contract — he’s entering the final year of his deal — will come around that time as well.” www.bostonsportsjournal.com/2019/07/14/nfl-notebook-tom-bradys-looming-contract-extension-pre-camp-thoughts/

Just went back to find the discussion. It was only a quick disagreement based on what Miguel was saying.
A post later, I backed off based on the updated info.

Which is dumber, the 18 play 16 or the Ex-Rays half season split?
Dr. Chao, the former orthopedist for the chargers who diagnoses injuries accurately via video has suggested repeatedly a 17 game 2 byes (ahead of Thursday night games) season, which has made the most sense to me. 19 weeks of "real football," only one extra game, players get extra rest, eliminate 2 preseason wastes of time.
If they are all hell-bent on more football, that's the way to do it.
