Which is dumber, the 18 play 16 or the Ex-Rays half season split? Dr. Chao, the former orthopedist for the chargers who diagnoses injuries accurately via video has suggested repeatedly a 17 game 2 byes (ahead of Thursday night games) season, which has made the most sense to me. 19 weeks of "real football," only one extra game, players get extra rest, eliminate 2 preseason wastes of time. If they are all hell-bent on more football, that's the way to do it. I’d say the 2 city split since it came with new stadiums in both cities.

If the Rays split their home games with Montreal, I predict it won't last long. The attendance in Montreal will be way higher, so the Rays will just pick up and move there. Maybe the city of Montreal buys up the stadium lease in Florida, just to avoid law suits.
Tampa will never build a new stadium for just a half a season.
There used to be 2 byes in a season. I hated it then and I would hate it now even more.
Or they could hand out a half a dozen byes and the Super Bowl would be played on Memorial Day. Give them a couple of months off, then back at it again. They're paid to play, not lollygag around a beach.

They aren't willing to entertain that scenario at all. It's all posturing either to get the financing for the new stadium or to get the Rays out of their deal so they can move.

No new deal on horizon for Brady per a report. Kraft making him play it out?

I don't mind Edelman missing time, will force Brady to work with the new guys. We need Brady to connect with another WR in a bad way.

He has about a decade worth of experience next to Tom Brady and he won't be out of shape I'm 100 percent sure. He could take the whole pre-season as far as I'm concerned. September can be his pre-season where he can take more limited snaps now that he's getting older.

The pats are about to open training camp. Did they do enough in the off season to be ready to defend this season? Who is the key new comer? Who has to step up the most for them to win? Win total projection? Do they make the super bowl?

Win total projection? Do they make the super bowl? The key new comer is Bennett; he needs to keep doing what he’s always done. You can argue a WR, but there’s too much unknown with each of them to pick a guy. Wynn needs to step up the most. If the O-line is dominant they will find a way on offense. 12 wins? 50/50 chance they make the SB and 67% chance they win if they do. Historically speaking

Young offensive skill players, enough big bodies with talent on the O-line for Scar to Scar, a solid or above DB crew. If someone steps up in the front 7 and Bennett does his thing this team should be in the AFC championship game yet again. My daughter has never seen them miss it, and I'd like to keep it that way!
Anyone worried about Belichick likely calling the plays or being over-extended with a thin coaching staff? Bill/Scar/McDaniels/Fears sounds good, but the current official team defensive staff is "Steve Belichick-Safeties" (yes really, look it up). Hoping Mayo is a quick study.

Pats sign TE Lance Kendricks. Worked with Josh McD for a year.

I don’t like head coaches calling plays. I make fun of them for that so I’d be inconsistent if I said it wouldn’t have an affect on the Patriots.

Hoping Mayo is a quick study. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bret_BielemaBret is a high level coach, who has studied under three very good to great college coaches and now Bill. He was great at Wisconsin, before chasing the money in the crazy tough SEC. Spent last year as a consultant, so he's got a year in our system already. He's more than qualified to be a defensive coordinator in the NFL and call plays. He has a lot more coaching experience than Steve Belichick and he's got about 30 years of experience on Mayo. Bret has experience calling the plays as a defensive coordinator. We'll have to see what happens, but we certainly have a guy capable of calling the plays that has a lot of football knowledge and experience. I'm sure why everyone keeps overlooking Bret.

Probably because he told people he was going to the DC then they hired Schiano and then after he left they still haven’t made Bret a coach let alone the DC.

Yeah my point was more they really have flux on the defensive coaches and a lot of literal and figurative unknowns. If Bielema is defacto DC, sounds like a decent scenario but he's not even officially on the staff. Be interesting to see if there are coaching reports out of camp day 1.

Edeleman's thumb is broken. He'll likely be out most of preseason and hopefully play in the 3rd or 4th game. Probably doesn't matter too much.

He won't get the DC title, that's just not how they work.
