They added coaches since Wednesday. It literally only had Steve Belichick on defense as of Wed.

They need to hire Brown officially as a receiver coach.

People won’t like this but here’s some facts for you:
From Boston Sports Journal via Football Outsiders:
The chapter, which is penned by veteran NFL scribe Mike Tanier, is not especially kind to Tom Brady, who Tanier says is “starting to decline,” and he backs it up with FO data:
Signs of age were visible all across Brady’s statistics last season. He finished with his lowest DYAR (1,034) and DVOA (15.4 percent) since 2013. He ranked seventh in the NFL in DVOA, his lowest finish since 2013, and ninth in DYAR, his lowest finish since way back in 2003. In a season when passing statistics around the league dramatically increased, Brady posted his lowest QBR (68.8) since 2015, his lowest passer rating (97.7) since 2014, his lowest touchdown total (29) and rate (5.1 percent) since 2013, his highest interception rate (1.9 percent) since 2011, his lowest yards per attempt (7.6) since 2015 and yards per completion (11.6) since 2014. Pick just about any other meaningful metric, and Brady posted his lowest figure of the last three to seven years.

No way around it. We are lucky to have great Tom Brady for this long. Maybe he's got one more run left in him. We'll see.

Brady is the kind of guy who will do just enough to win no matter how much he declines. The running game and defense will carry him, but he'll still do what is needed. It's not like he's Peyton Manning on the Broncos (at the end) bad anytime soon.

I keep seeing crap like that about Brady and everyone overlooks he was without Edelman for four games, Gronk went from beast to average TE and Brady had the worst collection of talent in years. Now I worry about TE still, but they have much better depth at WR and RB than they did last year. Nevermind they kinda went old school run and D because of the lack of weapons. People seem to forget Brady in his early years in an offense like that and only remember like 2007 and forward.

Not sure why they'd even remove him from active PUP. He likely wont be healthy so they'll just move him to reserve PUP and see what happens down the road.

Latest from Bedard. He annoys me, but I think he’s the best Patriots writer analyst out there. He knows what he’s talking about and is a quality scout so I definitely pay attention when he mentions guys play. A separate name to watch is Dan Skipper. Tackle, Bedard has been in him for a while and he was getting first team reps. Guys a beast at 6’10. www.bostonsportsjournal.com/2019/07/28/bedard-michael-bennetts-first-day-indication-patriots-wont-miss-trey-flowers-much/“We’re still a long ways from the season, and things like health will certainly become a factor when all is said and done, but after catching a glimpse of Michael Bennett during a limited appearance in his first Patriots training camp practice, it seems like Trey Flowers might just be Nate Soldier-ed or Malcolm Butler-ed. You know what I mean. When both Solder and Butler became free agents last season, a sizable portion of the fanbase thought there was no way the Patriots were going to be able to overcome their losses in 2018. Then the Patriots traded for little-known tackle Trent Brown, and signed veteran Jason McCourty to help replace both. And, wouldn’t you know it, the Patriots got better play from both players and their units at a fraction of the cost. Bennett just might do the same in relation to Trey Flowers.”

The Athletic does have paywalls!!! In regards to Tom declining: Yes it is a forgone conclusion that athletes will decline with age, obvious!! But has he so far been able to maintain his excellence? yes He has already outdone anything we could have all hoped for, both in his career and his longevity. Does he outperform any previous 40 something year old? yes So I am going to just enjoy it for as long as it lasts and it has already exceeded my expectations. Prognosticating on Toms demise is a cottage industry, I choose to focus on his results!

Cannon restructures deal. No details yet The New England Patriots have restructured the contract of veteran right tackle Marcus Cannon, guaranteeing $4.5 million of his 2019 compensation, NFL Network's Michael Silver reported Monday, per a source familiar with the negotiations. In addition, the team added incentives that could boost the total value of Cannon's deal, which runs through the end of the 2021 season, to $24 million.

Glad for Cannon. He was a top talent going into the draft, but had some kind of cancer that made him slide down to the 5th round when Bill took a chance on him.
Looks like Pats are going more with the run lately. They have some good backs and that will take the pressure off Brady having to pass on almost every down. The OL is good enough to do that.
Congrads to Leon Gray. Him, along with the great John Hannah, made a fearsome left side.
Congrads also to Rodney. I remember his first day in camp, after he was acquired, he wacked someone really hard. You're not supposed to do that on the first day of practice. Someone got mad. Rodney didn't care. That's the way he played. One of my all time favorite players.
Love the competition this year. Some good players are going to be cut.

Jacobi Meyers seems to be taking advantage of the additional reps.
Braxton Berrios . . . is not.

Can they possibly fit his salary?

Can they possibly fit his salary? Yes but they’d need to do some restructures and/or trade salary. Like Harmon or Roberts could be the type of guy who goes back in a rare trade including players on both sides. Today people are speculating this might be Brady’s last year now they there’s new reports that he and G are looking for houses and schools in CT for their kids next year. If true then you won’t see a Brady extension which means you might not be able to fit Williams. If they bring in Williams at any where near this cap number then Gronk basically can’t return.
