One thing that the Duke Dawson trade brings into light is looking at what Belichick has done in the past is kind of a fools errand. It bothers me when people say “Bill’s never done this in 20 years so don’t expect it”. The ONE thing Bill has been consistent about is doing new things and adapting to current situations and circumstances.

I am really looking forward to this season with what this roster looks like. Just a few months ago after winning the SB all anyone was talking about is the losses and how to make up for them. Flowers, Gronk and Brown are all big losses for sure but this team, to me anyways, looks like they could be dominant.
The D is obviously looking deep and talented but the WR group is what I am looking forward to. Yes their is a lot of risk but the upside is huge, of course with some healthy luck. The Pats O does their business in the middle of the field and with the size of Gordon, Thomas and Harry along with a strong running game they could be a tough team to stop. If the Oline and the WRs can mesh they have a chance to be dominant on both sides of the ball. We shall see and I can't wait!

Whoa... Crossen traded to Houston and Gunner wasn’t cut after all... I’m shocked they traded Crossen to be honest - not a fan of it but I love me some Gunner

I wonder if they told Gunner he was getting released, let word sneak out and learned he wouldn’t make it thru waivers so they decided to do this instead. Theoretically, he can fill the Gunner (no pun intended) role and return duties. Plus, he has upside as a receiver.
I said after the first preseason game that he’s a different athlete - you can see his explosiveness jump off the screen.

Add: 6th rd pick... meh

Demaryius Thomas released 🤯
Add: thinking out loud... he’s a veteran who doesn’t go thru waivers so I’m wondering if they worked it out with him to return after they IR someone
Add: now wide speculation this is the case. I hope so..

Have read that Andrews, Rivers and Froholdt are headed to IR. So if they are cutting DT as a paper move, would think it might be for Calhoun??

Obi making the team is probably the compromise of what you and I were talking about the other day (replacement for King). They get the speed of a DB AND the size of a smaller LB.
Or Obi is going on IR-DTR

So I guess Thomas can’t sign until either after 6pm tomorrow or Monday.

Trent Harris Braxton Berrios Andrew Beck Ken Webster
We’re all claimed from Patriots. Harris and Webster would have been nice to keep.
On the plus side, Munson and Thurman were not claimed and could be good practice squad guys if they sign. I wouldn’t mind that Scooby-Doo guy signing either.
I’m in the minority but I don’t think much of Berrios.

What the F are the Texans doing? They get almost nothing for an very good DE, then trade a ton for an LT.
Overall not many surprises, love they kept Wise. We need a true run stuffing DT for the practice squad. I'm also glad we didn't lose Rivers, but another lost season sucks. What is his injury? I can't even find what's wrong with him.

I think this is the best defense in the league this year. It should carry the team. Add Brady and a decent offense and I can see them winning 13 games or more. Another great year.

Colts signing Hoyer to 3 year 12m contract. I think this gives the Pats a 1.5m cap credit next year for the 1.5m guarantee Hoyer had this year due to offset language. Not sure how it exactly works... it’s possible the structure of the Colts contract affects that.

Harry to IR to return this year (ankle)... Thomas resigned.

Well that helps explain why Rivers wasn't given a chance gotta save one of those IR guys spots that can come back in case of an incoming injury. Just sucks so many young guys losing experience and like with Dawson it can stunt their growth. Given how physical football is they need to again increase that number.

I hate to say it, but this might be the most talented team since 2007, heck it might be the most talented team in our history. We had one big worry on the OL but a bunch of trades added Vets with starting experience. The D is crazy deep and the offense outside TE has as many playmakers as we've had in a long time.

To be clear, you dont have to declare them as DTR. Every player put on IR after the cutdown is eligible.
Obviously, you can bring back only 2.
So Rivers was put on IR ahead of the cutdown bc they dont believe he can return.
