It is a good thing that this defense is all time good because the offense is mediocre at the moment and the problem really centers on the o-line/ Will Wynn finally getting on the field solve the problem, can Scar do his thing and coach up the line? Meanwhile SF crushed a decent Carolina team.

Sanu seems to be a great blocker. I think he's going to contribute quite a bit.

Why did the Pats take Michel instead of Chubb in the 2018 draft? Took a quick look at ESPN draft rankings. Close overall but they dinged Chubbs durability.

Chubb is 10+ lbs bigger and breaks tackles. Sony runs hard but those extra lbs matter. It's probably because Chubb isn't a Patriots type of player. It's hard to argue with anything they do anymore. That is likely the reason, because Chubb looked crazy good against our D.

But I don't believe Bennett had played a single snap on the outside of the 3-4 or the 4-2 whereas Calhoun had played in those roles exclusively. Any lost time for Calhoun would be replaced by Simon/Winovich even if Bennett was still on the team.
An injury to Butler/Shelton (who play inside in the 4-2) would be the issue (a very real possibility so I am concerned about the depth inside with MB gone).

Cowart is the guy who replaced Bennett on the active roster. So that depth is there if we are talking about Bennett.

We will see - will have to make a lot of cap room for a bunch of the guys talked about. Howard would be ideal but that seems very unlikely. I highly doubt we get one of the elite LTs with the money they make. If Wynn can actually come back in week 11 you'd have your big upgrade. So if you can get an upgrade at swing tackle for depth that makes sense, but is very hard this time of year. The rest of the OL needs to step up. Eifert would be a great low risk move, he make almost nothing. I don't know what he has left, but he was a great go up and get it TE before the injuries. I'd still target a slot WR that is quick if you can find one now that Sanders is gone. My surprise need is a big RB. A guy like Jordan Howard. If you won't use Harris and you can't count on Burkhead staying healthy it's a need.

Chubb is 10+ lbs bigger and breaks tackles. Sony runs hard but those extra lbs matter. And he would still be ineffective with this O-line. Michel had literally the best postseason ever by a rookie running back last year. I think people are being too hard on him this year. He's not the same guy this year. Either he's still not 100% because of his knee or he only looks good with an elite OL and two elite blocking TEs. Our OL while not great isn't one of the worst in Football either. Good RBs make the OL look good, like any RB can run behind an elite OL.

While I really don't think Pat's would be in on Solder I thought that I heard his Cap Cost wouldn't be that significant (at least relative to his crazy contract). I believe it's bc much of the hit is wrapped up in the Signing Bonus which, even if traded away, NYG would be responsible for.

NE is bringing back Kessler. Thought Harry would be activated to fill that last spot but, it's only Monday.

Yes. Harry has already been designated to return and is eligible to play on Sunday night. If they end up not activating him, they'll will have burnt 1 of their 2.
Wynn has not yet been designated. He's eligible to practice (this week I think) but he wouldn't count against the 53. He's not eligible to play until the Dallas game (this is a more recent change - though I don't recall what year - where it's 8 GAMES before a return not 8 WEEKS).

I don't see how they can trade him as he has 25 million in dead money and they have almost no cap space. His actual salary is 7.5 million which isn't bad.

Agreed. I think the challenge is from the Giants side but less onerous from the receiving team.
Love the guy (at least the public persona as it seems like he's battle through a lot). Like the player. But, oof, that contract.

I think with the addition of Harry, Wynn, and Sanu, the offence will get better. More targets and better protection for the playoffs. If the defense holds up and the offense starts getting points of their own, this could be another Super Bowl run.
We're still in the Pats Golden Age.

Is Damien Harris hurt or is he never going to touch the ball in his career?
