The Grizz pick is currently tied for 6th, which is the protection level. They have also lowered their point differential from worst to 5th worst. Lost to Clippers and Lakers by 3 points recently. One win away from the odds being very good that we get it. That's the big killer, the new lottery odds really change things. They can finish in 5th or 6th and we still could easily get it or they could finish 8th and jump up and we don't get it. Still think it comes down to second half of the year, when other teams start to tank. They didn't tank till the last few games and we almost got the pick last year because of it. Yeah the new lottery odds really make things interesting for the bottom teams. I like it but not sure it is going to change tanking all that much. It actually gives more teams a chance to get lucky which could increase the # of teams tanking late once they are out of the playoffs. As for the C's and the pick, it is just another layer of unknown. Like I said it is a great asset, the C's have a lot of those and hopefully Danny will make the right move. He usually does but the shine has come off a little since the Kyrie deal, can't win them all.

This is a good win tonight. The Heat were on the second night of a back to back and it showed at times, but yes it was a great win. Lots of run for Semi tonight and he looked decent.

Butler scored half of the Heat's points. Don't know why he chose to sign there. It's like he doesn't care about winning as much.

Guy works his ass off.

Yeah, the Heat are not a bad team at all. I was looking at it as a good test with some guys down but then I saw that they were playing the night before. Playing back to backs are tough especially on the road. Miami is 0-4 in back to backs on the season so they are pretty tough with regular rest.

They’ve also beaten the Rockets, Raptors and Bucks this year. The last 2 were road wins... 3 of the losses on the second night of back to backs were on the road at Lakers, at Sixers and at Celtics... that’s pretty tough.
The other 3 losses: @houston, @ Denver, @minnesota (2nd night of back to back and came after the Bucks win).
I didn’t see the game last night but Spolstra always seems to get the most out of his teams since LeBron left.

Tatum, 3 Celtics 1sts, the Memphis pick, Smart, Time Lord for KAT. Who says no?
Edit: besides the Grizzlies :-)

I didn’t see the game last night but Spolstra always seems to get the most out of his teams since LeBron left. I checked them out a few weeks back and was going to mention that Bam is turning into a player. You expected him to rebound and get some points but the 4 assists surprised me, that is impressive for a 3rd yr big. They are probably the 4th best team in the East. I don't see them cracking the top 3 although the Raptors are better than I thought with their own budding star Siakam. Celt's have 2 budding stars and I am loving JB's game and confidence lately. The game has slowed down for him and now his ceiling has grown a bit in my eyes, I never pictured him as an all-star but now I do. Maybe perennial or maybe I am getting ahead of myself. What year was it that the C's had 4 maybe 5 guys on the allstar team?

Tatum, 3 Celtics 1sts, the Memphis pick, Smart, Time Lord for KAT. Who says no? Edit: besides the Grizzlies :-) They both might but definitely the Celtics... it’s clear you build around Tatum and Brown for the next 5 years. They are 21 and 23 year old 2 way wings who are showing their upside and are already 20 point per game scorers. The most under talked about thing is Tatums defense this year... it’s kind of buried in his odd offensive year.

But he definitely has sort of a Kobe Bryant mentality where he forces shots. It doesn’t make sense to me how he shoots so badly on a night when Brown and Walker are so good. You’re right about his defense. KAT would make the Celts an instant title contender. I’d go to war with Hayward, Kemba, Brown, Smart and KAT against the Clippers or Lakers.

I'm in a long term Fantasy Basketball league and let JB go while keeping Tatum and Hayward (and Kelly Oubre). How long will I regret that? I was feeling great in October...

On one hand maybe I'm too attached to our own players, on the other it is just too much I think. Your one injury away from being the Brooklyn Nets, you might be better than the Nets but your behind the Bucks for as long as Giannls is there. Plus it is more fun to win organically right, isn't that why we are all here on a sox prospect website. The current team doesn't need a Kat to be contending for years. A substantial upgrade would do over the next few years when they will be peaking, they are a year or 2 away. Tatum and Brown still have some growing to do, that is when it will start. With the assets they have they should be able to get that upgrade they need. Heck it could be the Memphis pick or a combination of that pick and more adds up to what they need. Maybe a Vet who has made his money and wants in. Will GH stick around with a team friendly deal since he lost a yr at 30 mil.

Unfortunate you traded Smart with Tatum... i don’t know enough about KAT... does his defense still blow?

The most under talked about thing is Tatums defense this year... it’s kind of buried in his odd offensive year. Absolutely, Tatum has been incredible on defense, it's flying under the radar for sure. You put Smart, Brown and Tatum together and it's no wonder the Celtics have the 6th best defense on the league despite being somewhat undersized.

Tonights game will be another good test. Pretty sure Smart is out, kind of hope he is so he can heal up a bit.
Even with the shooting woes I was happy to see G Williams get the start the other night.
When this team turns up the volume on D late in games they look pretty tough.

In LT leagues that can hurt but all of those guys are doing pretty good so it isn't too bad.Of course Hayward is out but he will be back soon.

Keeper leagues are tough depending on the number of keepers you get. My baseball league you only got 5 each year so in those cases it’s hard to compete and build for the long term.

Jokic looking like a guy that would dominate at a pizza place.

Jokic looking like a guy that would dominate at a pizza place. He probably devours 10000 calories a day at that size and being an athlete. He would kill an all you can eat buffets profits.

Fantastic win, dominating against a quality opponent and completely outclassing them on offense and defense. Tatum looked unstoppable at times. Great stuff, great team!

"Just playing good basketball"
It is fun to watch them getting better and where they are going.

JB calls him and Tatum, Fire and Ice. "Just playing good basketball" It is fun to watch them getting better and where they are going. The most exciting young duo in the league for sure. The best thing about them is how they complement each other so well, it's not like Embiid and Simmons that shouldn't play together ever. They mesh so well because they bring different skills to the table and yet you could say the same things about them, they both defend really well and both can score inside and outside. And yet they aren't redundant, they guard different kinds of players and attack from different spots. Just amazing to witness, Danny did a REALLY good job here.

The nice thing about them as individuals is they can literally compliment any other player in the league. They are wings that can defend multiple spots with their length. They can shoot well enough and slash. They are both versatile players.
