Robert Williams, athlete that he is, is still only 6'8". He doesn't have bulk....His quickness and leaping ability will help, but at that size I'm not sure how much of a deterrent he would be against the big centers. Still, nice to have him as a relief guy and against small ball teams. Doesn't have bulk compared to who? Capela is 6'10" 240, Embiid is 7' 240, Williams is 6'8" 237 and I wouldn't be surprised to see him close to 250 be age 25. With him it's not size, strength or ability. It's experience and NBA Knowledge/IQ. Not going for pump takes, not trying to block every shot, crap like that. The guy blocked Anthony Davis a bunch of times in one game, he was blocking his jump shots. The announcers were like I've never seen Anthony Davis jump shot get blocked before. His wingspan combined with his athletic ability makes for an unreal combo if he develops. Well Embiid is 280, not 240. Yup Williams' length and apparent other worldly leaping ability make him a potentially effective defender. My eyes must deceive me because Williams looks lighter than listed and a guy who knows the Cs pretty closely told me that Williams is less than 6'8" FWIW.

Oh man, that Smart 3 to put them up 8 in the 4th quarter was freaking sweet.

Imagine when Tatum gets the Jordan/Kobe/LeBron treatment. He'll shoot 18 foul shots a game and not get 2 palming calls and a technical.

Best game of the season and I mean in the entire NBA. Both teams really wanted it, got some unbelievable defense being played by both sides and some unstoppable offense. Got a lot of fantastic plays, but man these past 10 minutes of basketball. Just legendary stuff. Tatum is an absolute MANIAC, Marcus Smart with some captain plays like that 3 to bring it close, Hayward with the F*CK YOU strip at the end. Just amazing. My heart feels like it's going to come out from the top of my head lol.

Tatum has arrived. He gets to the basket so fast and so smoothly. Super excited to see him level up.
As we get to the playoffs I'll be really interested to see if he can maintain it every night and whether he has to given the team dynamic. Do they need an Alpha 1 every night? Will Hayward Brown and Kemba start getting antsy?

Will Hayward Brown and Kemba start getting antsy? Kemba is loving the fact that he doesn’t need to go for 30+ every night for his team to have a chance to win. What’s nice about this team when healthy is that two of those four players are likely going to be playing well every game. And when three of them are on, they’re beating anyone in the league that night.

Celtics/Clippers may not be the Finals the NBA needs but it's the one I do.

Pasta was the first guy that came to mind lol but I think Tatum is more spectactular. Basketball players tend to carry the team more than hockey players and last night Tatum was absurd on offense and defense. Maybe right now after the post game excitement quieted a bit I agree that Pastrnak is a bit ahead, but man on man Tatum was downright Paul Pierce last night.

Why doesn't Harrell start for the Clippers? Every time I watch that guy I come away impressed and he almost always plays more minutes than the starter.
Good win, espically without Brown. Yet one guy out exposes our depth issues. I'd love to see the leaders challenge Semi and Williams to get more involved.
Smart can still drive you crazy, but man he has had some monster games this year. If he can ever become just a little more consistent.
I do think right now Tatum deserves some MVP votes.

Funny thing, before I posted that I actually checked the hockey-reference page to see if the numbers were really that good and holy hell they're REALLY that good (I went away and posted anyway because I was too hyped). Sucks he was injured at the Cup, I hope the Bruins get another shot this year.

He’s been unselfish (for a goal scorer - you need them to be selfish to a point) and he’s played well in both ends. Ok enough B’s talk.

Is there any way to look up PER over a given time frame? Tatum’s season is close to 20 now but I know it was way lower the first few months.

I don't know of any place, Basketball Reference allows you to pick games out of the boxscore, but they don't give you per just game score and plus/minus.
Tatum's last seven games 25.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.4 steals, 1.1 blocks, while shooting 46.2%, 43.9% from deep, getting to the line 6.4 per game, game score of 19.6 and a plus 8.6
The points are nice, but he's filling out the stat sheet like few players can.

All-star breaks are the worst. I have zero use for them. The only worth while all-star break was the 1999 MLB one in Fenway with the all century team, Ted Williams, an epic HR derby and of course Pedro. That’s not just because I was there for it all, it was legitimately memorable and historic. The rest are stupid and worthless. End rant.

Got to say, that was one awesome game but at the end I was just nervous Kemba was going to get injured lol. He was supposed to be on a minutes restriction and played the entire 4th which lasted forever.

“From not really knowing him a year ago at this time to—I feel like we’ve been through a lot,” Tatum said a few weeks ago. “He gives me a lot of energy, a lot of confidence. Especially when we’re out there on the floor he’s always continuing to push me to do more and be better. From Day 1 he tells me to take over games and be special. Hearing that from him just gives me so much confidence when I’m out there.” www.google.com/amp/s/www.masslive.com/celtics/2020/02/boston-celtics-kemba-walker-jayson-tatum-are-exactly-what-each-other-needed-john-karalis.html%3foutputType=ampIt’s funny, we talk about timelines and players being on the same timeline as one another in order to build a team. We always look at age. Tatum and Brown are obviously on the same timelines as young up and coming players at 21 and 23 years old. Kemba at 29 isn’t supposed to be on their timeline because of his age. But in a way he’s perfectly on their timeline. Kemba is in his Prime and still should have many years left at a high level but his league experiences and age have made him the perfect star player to pair with Tatum and Brown. A younger Kemba isn’t as good a player and doesn’t defer the way this Kemba does. Makes you reconsider the things that go into meshing timelines.
