Was at the game last night. Probably the only game of the season I will get to go to. Sad.
I don’t think this loss falls on Stevens at all. He had Williams, Semi, Carsen, Wanamaker, and Green as his overtime squad. That is easily the worst team in the league.
By the end of the 4th quarter, Wanamaker, Green and Williams were all playing meaningful minutes. No Brown, Hayward, Tatum. The Nets are a playoff team. That spells trouble.
One note. Time Lord is not good at basketball. On a key possession in the 4th, he was subbed in for Theis on a free throw, and softly gave up an offensive rebound for a basket. It looked like he couldn’t care less. Next time down the court, he weakly challenges Kurucs hard layup at the rim by running toward, and then jumping by him. I thought this guy was supposed to be a rim defender? Meanwhile, the Nets almost instantly began hacking him on purpose to send him to the line. What a liability...

Everyone always seems to think we have to just live with some of his bad shots, when that wouldn’t be the case if Brad actually held him accountable. The frustrating part is Smart is actually a pretty good shooter now, yet he chooses to keep taking bad shots. |

Everyone always seems to think we have to just live with some of his bad shots, when that wouldn’t be the case if Brad actually held him accountable. The frustrating part is Smart is actually a pretty good shooter now, yet he chooses to keep taking bad shots. Yeah, exactly why I think he's so frustrating at times. He's not forced to take bad shots and yet he makes it seems inevitable. Credit where credit is due though, he was GREAT down the stretch in this game (aside from a bad pass to Theis). He was locked in, even did a Smart winning play by getting that ball back in the mid court. Great win tonight! Great, great win. |

Stevens could come up in the middle of the court and take a dump and this one is not on him. This one is on Danny. Wanamaker is at -30 right now. |

Wannamaker plays 26 minutes goes 3-7 has 9 points 2 rebounds, 2 assists and a block with one TO. The rest of the bench plays 56 minutes goes 2-11 for 4 points. That crap happens when Stevens still subs in four reserves when your already thin bench has two guys starting. Not sure why you always think it's Wannamaker. The issue isn't Wannamaker, the issue was he was your best bench player tonight and Stevens won't stagger in reserves. Nevermind the Jazz have a strong bench. |

Yeah I think missing 2 of your 4 best players, Wanamaker -25, and Kemba shooting .294 is the story for this game.
Tough stretch. Not surprising given our injuries.
Positives of the stretch: Only lost to Lakers in LA by a couple, missing Kemba. Only lost to Rockets by a few, missing Kemba. Bad effort in Nets game but we lost literally everyone. Lost to Jazz by only 5, with Wanamaker -25, Tatum and Kemba not shooting great and missing 2 of our 4 best players. We will be fine. Semi, Grant, and TimeLord showing they can be positive rotation players come playoff time. Sucks that 2 seed is likely slipping away though.

Why was Atkinson fired? I haven't found any explanation, seems so random. There is not a lot of talent on that team and they have played well with him. They were a well coached team. I don't get it.

Incompetent coaching. wcp3 obviously it's my opinion only and please take this in the best possible way....but dang you seem intractably negative after every loss and some wins. We have performed better than most anticipated and played a team with nearly an identical record WITHOUT 2 of our best players. We lost by 5. Were you a Utah fan would you excoriate the team/coaching because it could only eke out a 5 point win against a top talent weakened Celtics team? If we were full strength and Utah down 2 prominent starters, and we only won by 5, would you criticize the Cs? The sky is not falling. Yeah, we all wish that we had more depth and Wanamaker may be 4A, but we are a lot closer than most teams. I trust Danny to get us there. |
