Gary Payton was talking about a guy having “super star” legs... ability to play both ends for 4 quarters.

Not good, it's grade 3. That might be his season, four weeks is a very hopeful time frame for grade 3, it could take months.
Damn that's a massive blow, when it means more Williams and Semi. We can't catch a break.

To think I laughed at those Leonard comparisons years ago. Amazing how close they are right now, I didn't see it either. Shame about Hayward. Feel real bad about it. Semi starts now, I guess? That means the 76ers get to sag off two dudes and pack the paint. Lack of depth could kill us.

Smart will start is my guess

Umm the Magic beat the Bucks and they did it 122 to 110, not some barely beat them win.

I would guess Smart also, yet it also means a lot more of Williams, Semi and Wannamaker.
I also am playing Robert Williams with Smart as much as possible. Smart is by far the best at throwing him lobs, which just gets him fired up.
Is Langford out? Wasn't he in uniform yesterday?

I think Giannis knees might be FUBAR for the season. And I would not start Smart. Do that and the first guy off the bench is Wanamaker. Then again, it's playoffs baby, Brown and Tatum need to play over 40 minutes a game.

With the Lakers dropping the series opener, it's pretty clear the NBA is for the taking this season, anyone can chip. It makes the Hayward injury hurts even more.

He's a great offensive player and very fun to watch on offense. I'm just a big believer in defense wins Championship's. I wouldn't trade a two way guy like Tatum for Doncic. Heck I might have a hard time trading Brown for him. You know, I also was thinking you were being over the top, but this actually rings true. The TEAM would have a lot harder time winning important games with Luka instead of JB right now. Defense is such a part of their identity. The Warriors were obviously able to win with Curry on D, but they had two all-world stoppers in Draymond and Iggy. But the Blazers, Westbrook era Thunder, Rockets all underachieved with their best 1-2 players being inferior or unwilling defenders. Raptors have overachieved with defense. Sixers... still don't know what to say about those guys. Bucks are TBD, but Giannis has really transformed from a stats defender to a true two-way disruptor. That said Luka is young, fun and talented and I will root for him to make the jump.

Luka in Boston would likely be guarding the guys Tatum is currently guarding and Hayward/Tatum would adjust. Also, he’d have Brad Stevens so I have to think he’d at least be a solid team defender with rotations and whatnot. He’s so special offensively you’d need to trade Jaylen for him.

Oh look, another game where the Celtics weren’t prepared to play.

I feel good, Sixers can't play much better. Can Embiid keep this up?

Not surprised Grant is taking a chunk of the Hayward minutes. I’d expect this against a big team like Toronto as well.

I feel good, Sixers can't play much better. Can Embiid keep this up? Embiid has a lot to play for. He might lead the playoffs in efficiency off this series alone. But the Sixers are short on talent. Harris is really not a great player. And Horford is barely a good one at this point.

Imagine you're the 76ers FO and you inherit two generational talents in Embiid and Simmons and you surround them with Josh Richardson, Al Horford and Tobias Harris. This is some Isiah Thomas in NY f*ck up job.

About as good as you could possibly ask for in the 2nd and 3rd. Finish this one smoothly guys, just bring it home.

This might get lost in a blowout, but Stevens coached a masterpiece tonight. The lineups, the subtle switches to zone - he just called all the right shots.

Might have been the best Grant Williams I've seen.

That's CAPTAIN Marcus Smart. I absolutely love how he begins closing out on the shooter on the wing after that ridiculous block.

Did anyone see Kembas pissed off hustle play to strip Embiid into a Jaylen dunk after Embiid blocked and bodied him just seconds before? Asolutely beautiful. This team can legitimately make and win the Finals with everyone buying in.
Edit: heres the play if you missed it https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/iczt6z/highlight_walker_hustles_back_after_getting/

This is some Isiah Thomas in NY f*ck up job. I’m not disagreeing with you at all, just wanted to take the opportunity to say, I actually really like Josh Richardson as a player. He’s a little over aggressive defensively at times, but if he were coached by a better coach and not on a dysfunctional team he’d be a great piece. He should be a guy who’s looked at as an amazing 4th/5th piece but their team is such a mismatch of players.

BRobb at BSJ deserves some credit... in his series preview column he dug deep into the numbers and talked about how the Kanter-G Williams - Tatum front court was a little used combination that was very effective this year and could play a role against the big Sixers lineups.
Him and Jay King (the Athletic) are the 2 best Celtics writers out there in my opinion but it’s unfortunate they are behind pay walls. Jared Weiss, also at the Athketic is good too.

True, but it seems we need to pay for good journalism or it will die. I've enjoyed my Athletic sub quite a bit, great NFL draft stuff, Pats, celtics, some quality national writers I miss from elsewhere. BSJ is one I never stepped into, but BRobb is great on twitter.
