Imagine you're the 76ers FO and you inherit two generational talents in Embiid and Simmons and you surround them with Josh Richardson, Al Horford and Tobias Harris. This is some Isiah Thomas in NY f*ck up job. I’m not disagreeing with you at all, just wanted to take the opportunity to say, I actually really like Josh Richardson as a player. He’s a little over aggressive defensively at times, but if he were coached by a better coach and not on a dysfunctional team he’d be a great piece. He should be a guy who’s looked at as an amazing 4th/5th piece but their team is such a mismatch of players. The coach has to be at least 40% of the problem, and the fact that Embiid and Simmons are an awkward play-style (and personality) pairing is at least 20%. Every outside player brought in seems to revert to the worst of themselves, and I can't tell whether that's bad coaching, stars that are hard to play with, or both. But the GMs haven't helped the situation. I love both Embiid and Simmons individually, but neither have put themselves in position to become a Top 5-10 player that they could be (Embiid with conditioning and how he uses his big-man athleticism, Simmons with shooting). What would that team look like with Tatum (if they'd somehow taken him over Fultz)? I'm not sure if Tatum would have opened up his outside game sooner out of necessity, or would his growth have been stunted by Simmons and Embiid clogging the middle that Tatum thrived in his first 2 years? Defensively, would he overlap with Simmons too much? Also, why do I care so much? So much happier to be a Celtics fan than Sixers.

Kevin O’Conner just came out with his new Ringer Mock Draft. This is who he had going 14th to the Celtics: “The horror. The horror.”

I crazy enjoy watching Embiid and Kanter in the post. Along with Tatum, Brown and Walker. It's like old and new school basketball.
Sixers biggest issue? Embiid can't attack the basket for four quarters. Heck he can't even do it for a full quarter before he starts taking easier jumpers, jump hooks and three's. His final line is impressive, yet if he was in shape he should literally be able to destroy Theis and Kanter all game long. Then we double leaving their shooters open. He looked better in 2018 than he does now. In 2018 it look massive efforts to contain him. This year he's taking long hook shots with Grant Williams on him. It's like he wants no part of Kanter being physical.
They should trade him to us for three first round picks lol. They need a new coach and a GM that gets the pieces need to fit.

I’d argue their biggest issue is they have no one else to step up so he doesn’t have to dominate for 48 minutes.... that being said, his plus minus is terrible

Still on Embiid that he can't play hard for even the full first quarter though. Right now you can't play him long stretches. He gets lazy on offense when he gets tired, nevermind defense. He'd likely be much more efficient playing 32 minutes compared to 40 plus. He's like a modern day Shaq. He needs a Kobe or Wade to be the man.

That being said, he's a bad fit like pretty much everyone on that roster. If you could split the 76ers roster in two and surround those guys with shooters, you'd probably end up with 2 better teams than the current one. Like imagine Embiid and Simmons playing alongside Tim Hardway, Finney Smith and Seth Curry. Or Goran Dragic, Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson. Or Bogdanovic, Ingles and Royce O'Neale. Those teams would rock, damn near zero overlap. The current 76ers are just 5 guys who should all be playing on the same spot on the court.

Richardson is at least a good enough shooter that he can fit in a lineup with Simmons and Embiid, just not with Harris and Horford. But yes i agree they need better shooters. That had one in Reddick but Stevens worked him so hard on defense they gave up on him.

The more I read about him the more I like Saddiq Bey for the Celtics. Good size, good defense and a great shooter. Played for Nova and is a pretty good passer and slasher as well.... might be able to take over the Hayward role... very borderline if he is there at 14.

How can you surround open court God Ben Simmons with slow herky jerky guys? Embiid is in the post, guy is cutting hard to the rim except... He isn't? Guy is slow as molasses and got caught in the defense. And nobody is open because you have AT BEST average shooters everywhere. It's a nightmare, it's just a poor job by the FO.

Looks like the officials are going to do their best to make this series 2-1.

Fouls are 8-1 right now, and it’s not because Philly is the aggressor. This is a rigged basketball game.
Absolutely pathetic decision-making by Tatum. He commits some of the laziest fouls you’ll ever see.

3 fouls I don’t understand why Smart insists on taking bad shots when everyone knows he can make good shots.

Smart has been so so bad tonight, and really not good at all this postseason. They can get away with it with a healthy Hayward, but they’re going to need him to be reliable on offense with Hayward out.
And I know Theis gets called for a lot of soft fouls, but he also commits some of laziest fouls, too. It’s wild he never learns from his mistakes.

Kemba looks good, he's flying around the court. That's vintage Kemba folks.

Theis with maybe the stupidest basketball play you’ll ever see.
Just all around dumb plays by the team tonight when they’ve had so many chances to put this series away.

NBA refs are making it up as they go along. It’s like watching NFL refs try to decide PI.

Also, extremely low bball IQ foul by Richardson to make this possible. How do you even do that?

Unbelievable coaching by Stevens in a critical moment. The blitz on Milton followed by the doubling on Embiid resulted in three straight turnovers.
