How does Roenicke justify not bringing in Workman for the 9th?

I think it's time to re-evaluate our expectations for this team. Mine were low to start, but they just lost 2/3 to a team that bats Jose Inglesias third. And Brian Johnson pitches tomorrow.
Seriously, this team might win only 20 games. There are just going to be too many early deficits with that SP.

That was ugly. This staff simply can’t win a division—let alone more; therefore, I’m prematurely thinking about potential returns for Martinez, Barnes, Workman, and two or three others (Not Jackie, who I prefer to keep). Get healthy, “earn” a top pick, get under that tax threshold, and build around Bogaerts, Devers, Sale, and Rodriguez.

No ERod I mean what can you do. I don’t understand the love fest with Weber at all. Beggars not choosers.

Yikes. I knew we wouldn't be good, but didn't think we'd be worse than Baltimore.
Not a good look.

The guy who signed the ace with the giant waving red flag sticking out of his left shoulder who is now predictably out for a year+? And who blew a ton of money on Eovaldi? And traded away several pitching prospects? And screwed up the financial management of the team so bad that we lost Mookie and still have to put out this junkpile of a starting rotation? No. the guy with 3 straight Division titles and a World Series. I mean, come on. I was really just joking (should have inserted smiley face) but your review has some serious problems.

Big Ron goal number 1 try to get through the order one time 3 innings is the goal.
Benny is a little lost probably because he was leadoff which he hates. I think I heard Verdugo is perfect leadoff guy. Good Luck.

Ye gods. Maybe trading Mookie was good. No reason to waste a great talent in his prime. These look like they might be wandering-in-the-desert years.

I am hopeful some of these pitchers can pitch well enough to create some value by the trade deadline.

Even if they reset - and they should, what starting pitchers worth a damn are free agents next year? Most of the names are well over 30 and the rest are meh.

For them to have any chance in the next few years, Sale has to return whole. Otherwise, this is a multiyear rebuild, and they should look to shed anyone who doesn’t have an X in his name (or Devers if he stays in shape).

E-Rod Hopefully can be healthy (the most important thing) and build on 2019. If Eovaldi is healthy he can be a three. Obviously those three have questions and the depth is lacking, but if everything goes right with them...

Dombrowski believed in front line starting pitching. It was expensive, but successful. Some bad luck with Sale and ERod this year, but yeah....the tear down was brutal on the starting pitching. If they were going to trade Mookie, they should’ve resigned Porcello. The Sox F.O. is lucky there’s no fans allowed in the stadium. Who would pay for this crap? 2 innings, 7 runs in his Mets debut

I'd trade Bradley and keep Pillar long term. That said, I'd also re-sign Bradley for Pillar type money and keep them both.

Dude has never had a OPS+ in triple digits. JBJ is a year younger, is less consistent offensively but overall a tick better, and remains a brilliant OFer. I get that JBJ is going to expect to get paid, but Pillar is a free agent, too. If I am choosing between them, I take JBJ. But as I’ve said before, an outfield featuring both is a pretty brutal offensive outfield.
