They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Over/Under on how many runs Weber lets up tonight? I'd set it at a conservative 7 against this lineup.

I thought Paxton was injured. I think the gist is he had back surgery in February and is allegedly fine, but he looked wrong in his last start. Lower velocity, bad arm angle. So unless I missed a follow up, he is ok, but he seems not at full strength.

They did push his start back a couple days, his normal day to go would've been today. He's got funky mechanics, so it's not a surprise he'd be someone who would struggle with a short ramp-up, especially coming off the back injury.

Tonight's lineup! Pillar 9, Martinez DH, Devers 5, Bogaerts 6, Vazquez 2, Verdugo 7, Chavis 3, JBJ 8, Peraza 4 Is this the closest to the "best" lineup they've put out so far? If you switch Moreland in for Chavis, maybe?

I can't wait for game two, the Godley is for real game. We are due for some luck with starting pitching.
I'd love to see Brewer get some starts. Yet not 8/2 against the Yankees, let's not set him up for failure.
Let's stay positive. Godley is back to 2017 levels and ERod is a few weeks away. Which would change everything. Then get back Taylor and Hernandez. The bullpen starts to look good again. We just need to stay close for a few weeks more. Heck maybe a Mata can replace Weber later in the season.
While all that is highly unlikely, we can hope. The last few games were crazy entertaining compared to let's just say less entertaining ones before that. I can take so-so, I can't take playing like the worst team in the league.

If it’s a tough season (and it may be) let’s all remember that everyone on this message board is our brother or sister in being a pretty avid fan of the Red Sox and is part of an even smaller community of those with a particular interest in following young players through the minors.

Our three best hitters have OPS’s of .678, .536, and .568. No better place to heat up than Yankee Stadium! Feel like there’s gonna be some runs this weekend (if baseball survives lol).

Who doesn’t love that first inning for Weber. Just one little single to LF. Would be just lovely to put a crooked number up on the board early!

That's some of the least excusable baserunning I've seen in a long time.

When you are a bad team, you have to at least be good with fundamentals.

Seems to happen on a daily basis with the 20 Sox.
