didn't she get a MLB personnel job or something ?? I wasn't a fan either. But Matt is bringing a totally obscure, absolutely irrelevant stat that is pouring salt in the wounds of Sox fans. He needs to stop that noise, pronto. I think she got fired. I’m pretty sure it was because she said something derogatory about players blowing the whistle on the Astros. i just checked. I don't read that, matter of fact, it says she is still working for ESPN in a July article this year. She is supposed to be doing her own games

She is supposed to be doing her own games Well, apparently I have no idea what I’m talking about. Would have actually bet money (and lost) that she said something stupid and they let her go. It might be the first time I’ve ever been wrong on the internet.

Are we done with the "Verdugo is a slap hitter" BS narrative yet?

Weber is now the best pitcher on the team.

Walking trash like Gardner and Hicks is the last thing anybody wants to see.

As bad as the Sox are, even if we go by this season’s records, there are teams threatening to overtake them, if you will. The Mariners, Giants, and Angels could easily combine with the Pirates to push the Sox to 5. Not a bad slot, but it doesn’t quite make up for the worst viewing experience of my baseball fandom.

I hope Warner, Henry, Kennedy, Bloom...whomever.....checks in on this site periodically and sees this.
The product you are putting out on the field is a mess. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Great years, thank you so much, but this is doggy doo doo. You need to hear that from your customers.

hard to score when Devers and JD have looked lost for most of the year Agreed. Those two have been a shell of themselves. What is going on? Anyone with good knowledge of swings know what is going on?

JD complaint he can't see replay of his in game swing or some bs like that. Devers is just guessing up there.

Great years, thank you so much, but this is doggy doo doo. You need to hear that from your customers. But we have mostly the same players minus Mookie on the field. And Verdugo has been pretty good. Those players have underperformed. We are absent our 4 best starters from last year and the good 2018-19 bullpen members have lagged. I don't see underperformance or injuries Management's fault. We had no money to pursue a Cole and/or others. And we had a depleted farm on which to draw. Our only choice was to take flyers on other teams' discards Really it seems that we encountered the perfect storm. Two years from now the sky will at least be partly sunny.

But the fact is, this team has some pretty bad or mediocre guys filling slots. Still, I don’t think anyone disagrees none of it matters with this staff as it is, and that is the result of bad luck and bad planning.

I am NOT saying Devers wont be a stud at all, but how awful would everyone feel if we had extended him for like 12/300+ and came out with this season? This delays any sort of contract extension in my book

This delays any sort of contract extension in my book I can’t imagine anything approaching that would follow one big season. Money aside, if he isn’t a stud they are really screwed.

Two years from now the sky will at least be partly sunny. i agree, basically. But this is pathetic and they basically gave up on the season to reset the tax. I feel justified in calling them out, even if it is the best long term play.

Umm my point was on him aging, which Cruz and Nelson backup. Finding a 3 bwar DH might not be hard in a given season, yet there are very few year after year type guys. Heck there aren't a ton of 3 plus offensive bwar type guys total year after year. Nevermind acting like Martinez is just a 3 bwar player is kinda crazy. He hasn't been below 3.9 bwar since 2013. Over the last six years 28.3 offensive bwar for 4.7 average. The guys basically a modern day David Ortiz and not easy to replace. Well, David Ortiz is a modern day David Ortiz. He’s only been retired for four years. JDM is like an Ortiz who is not as good and has had all his flair and charisma drained by a mortician. I meant best DH in the game, like Ortiz was for years. He's not close to Ortiz the person, yet Martinez is basically Ortiz the Bat. Look up the numbers is crazy how close they are through age 31. It's crazy how close the OPS plus is, in that 140-170 range. You don't easily find bats like Martinez no matter what you think.

I'm just wanting to know who was the first baseman at the end of the game. Haha, probably would have been Lin unless they wanted to lose the DH.

While Xander is a slight underperformance Vaz OPS is 100 points less, JBJ is 150 points less, JDM is 200 points less, Devers is 350 points less, and Beni is 650 points less. 2019 Vaz OPS of 798 Vaz 2020 OPS 689 2019 Xander OPS of 939 Xander 2020 OPS 867 2019 Devers OPS of 916 Devers 2020 OPS 578 2019 JDM OPS of 939 JDM 2020 OPS 737 2019 Benitend OPS of 774 Beni 2020 OPS 128 2019 JBJ OPS of 738 JBJ 2020 OPS 581

I said Devers and JDM. Bradley is under his subpar career average, so perhaps I should say gas not dramatically underperformed expectations. Benny is brutal but hurt, so I was not counting him. Xander is still in reasonable distance to say he is at a level he might be counted on to play. My main point is that even firing on all cylinders, many of these guys are not so good. Give us last year’s JBJ, Benny, and CVaz, and what to we have? A pretty bad lineup.
