Remember when y'all called me Mr. Negativity for suggesting this and how it was stupid and unrealistic? Pepperidge farms remembers That wasn't why you were called Mr. Negativity. Every post is negative. Lmao, every post was spot on. Chavis has 0 value, chavis proceeds to strike out 5 times, Xander may get moved but not Verdugo, national writer suggests he get traded. Take off the red sox colored glasses.

I would be psyched with some flyer A-ball pitcher for Workman. He’s a 30-game rental who slots in in a good bullpen as maybe a 7th inning reliever. A team would have to be pretty desperate to win a World Series* to give up much that might matter after real baseball returns. Is there anyone on this team you don’t hate? Workman is a high level reliever. I didn’t say I hate him. Jeez. I said if I were another team’s GM I would not see investing in him as a great deal. Do you remember Larry Anderson? Funny thing about him: he was actually pretty awesome for the Sox for 15 games, which, if Workman pitches every other game, he’d match. But what we really remember is giving up Bagwell for him. Who wants to do that? And... Workman pitched out of his head last season. I am assuming he is more like he was the two previous years... even somewhere in between. If I’m trading for him, I don’t pay for his one insane year, because it is highly likely he doesn’t repeat it (and he isn’t thus far). None of this is to say I don’t like him. I do. But I don’t let that cloud my view of what he’s worth to another team.

God help me... the more I think about the possibility of trading Bogaerts, the more it's starting to make sense. If the trade Xander, I’m switching to being a Dodgers fan. Haha, I thought you were. How many recent rings do they have ?

I am probably way too pragmatic in that I have a hard time idolizing sports stars, movie stars, music stars and the like. I'll root for the laundry, particularly when that laundry includes a ring every 4 years or so. Your (and most people's) mileage probably varies.

And I don’t necessarily idolize, but I valorize people who do what most can’t, bring joy to others, create beauty. I don’t care as much about numbers (except when they have a kind of aura, too), so I’d rather a guy with flair than a great automaton. Great with flair, like Papi? Priceless. I wouldn’t really switch, but I’d lose interest for a while. I always vaguely root for the Sox. I only sometimes love them.

For personality, I tend to like the off the wall guys. Bill Lee and Kevin Millar are two of my all time favorites for personalities. For the guys who get a lot of public air time, Francona and Cora for managers, I never liked Farrell's personality. That said, I don't want Cora back, he's dirty.

Chavis has 0 value, chavis proceeds to strike out 5 times, Xander may get moved but not Verdugo, national writer suggests he get traded. Take off the red sox colored glasses. You can say things that are objectively true and still be negative, those two things aren't mutually exclusive.

I would think something similar to what we gave up for Addison Reed a few years ago would be a fair expectation on a return for Workman.

Can we start calling Chavis Mr Negativity under his WAR gets back to or above 0?

Can we start calling Chavis Mr Negativity under his WAR gets back to or above 0? That’s not the point. Yes, you were right and yes Chavis had a horrendous game. But trashing players constantly is what makes you Mr. Negativity.

This is Baseball and yet you act like one game makes you 100% correct. Chavis could go 3-5 in his next game with a HR and a Double, while Quantrill gives up 3 runs in an inning.

And sorry for not being negative about Quantrill?

🤣 It's Baseball one game means nothing. Funny fact of the day Chavis and Quantrill both have .1 fwar.
