I had no intention of doing this but one of the articles I was reading linked me to it so I am just putting this out there because I was accused of being the only one who doesn’t think Newton hasn’t been good. In reality, I said he hasn’t been good his last 2 starts and he’s only had one good game throwing the ball (week 2 vs the worst, or one of the worst, pass defenses in football). We all know he sucked last week and had an excuse for it, so the game in question is the Raiders game. He wasn’t good versus the Raiders, that’s just a reality. He was putrid in the first half - better in the second. The team ran all over the Raiders in the second half and got an “easy” win. Of course, when you point out a short coming, you’re accused of being a hater even when you freely state it doesn’t mean things won’t be better going forward. The bottom line is Newton needs to be way better than he’s been for the Patriots to have any chance of going any where, especially since if he’s not then it will get harder and harder to run even with our stud offensive line being healthy. That should be a concern for any of us Patriots fans even if we think it will be better. We all know what Cam Newton is capable of, we also know it’s been years since he’s been a consistent top QB in the league with a lot of injuries in between. Oddly that’s both a concern but also a reason to have hope he’s just extra rusty and will improve. The man says the right things and works his tail off so that’s great, but we don’t know - plus he’s working with shitty weapons. Here are examples of me not being the only one: www.bostonsportsjournal.com/2020/09/29/bedards-breakdown-cam-newton-struggled-mightily-vs-raiders/“In the first half alone, Newton had one plus play — a nice throw and decision to Edelman on a crosser — and nine negative plays in the first half alone. A breakdown of the negative plays: five poor decisions, interception (decision), a poor throw behind N’Keal Harry, a half-sack on third down, and a hurry. The good news? Newton was better in the second half with two plus plays — his 27-yard throw to Harry was terrific and under pressure, a nice screen — and just two negative plays (run stuff and a decision to Edelman).” www.google.com/amp/s/patriotswire.usatoday.com/2020/09/27/patriots-raiders-cam-newton-struggled-rbs-carry/amp/www.nfl.com/news/cam-newton-unhappy-with-play-vs-raiders-this-is-supbar-performance

This is the type of stuff that makes you love and root for the guy: “Newton also acknowledged that with the team getting in a full week of practice, and getting several players back on the field, the Patriots’ offense is rapidly running out of excuses not to be performing better. “I’m saying we have a better preparation method with this week,” Newton said. “Not making any excuses (for the performance), I’m just saying we put ourselves in a better situation to win. I’ll just say it like that. Not saying we didn’t have capabilities of winning last week, because we did. We had our opportunities. “For us, as an offense, we know that our excuse basket is running real low. We’re getting guys back that we missed for weeks. Even though we’re missing a couple other guys, but we got enough to compete with anybody. And I mean, anybody.” www.bostonsportsjournal.com/2020/10/23/bedard-great-cam-newton-accountable-needs-deliver-w/

Lol, yeah this unit might be better. So you redoing your 6-10 to less now?🤣 I think I’m sticking with 6 wins right now. The offensive line looks like it could be a beast. But I’ve never seen people get so excited about 21 points against a bad defense. This secondary is special, but the front 7 is going to struggle against good teams. The dolphins are terrible. Just going to provide a little piece of crap I guess a certain poster forgets and now acts like he didn't do. It's right there, don't be impressed the Dolphins suck. The Dolphins D is currently ranked #4 in the whole league in points. I pointed out how the Dolphins finished last year and the talent they added, nope still just a horrible team. This isn't one game against the Raiders type crap and you know it. You brought up 6-10 after the positive Covid test and again after the loss to the Broncos. You recently when talking about the deadline acted like it was expected we'd lose against the 49ers and Bills and then do what you do and act like that's not what you said when I called you on it. You can do whatever you want, you want to be crazy negative knock yourself out. Yet it's all right here saved for all to see. You posting a schedule showing how we go 6-10 to meet your projection after last game. Don't give me the I said they could be better crap after posting that! Saying one thing doesn't wipe out the other posts you keep making.

Saying one thing doesn't wipe out the other posts you keep making. You’re probably right and if i had to actually place money on it they’ll probably win about 8 games. It will be hard for Bill to go under .500. But i can still say they could be better because I’ve said it several times. I’m not ignorant. I understand things could be better than they look and that I can be wrong. Also, your reading comprehension needs work. I literally said it’s not likely they lose the next 2 in my post. “It’s possible, even if not likely” i believe is the exact quote. It was a post to spur a discussion. You do this thing where you like to take peoples words and ignore what they said and say it’s not what they mean.

Andrews activated from IR that’s big for the offensive line. They always run better with him in the lineup.
Mason is still limited by his calf... part of me think they should sit him; maybe dress him and not start him... Hope Heron is good enough at RT... if not put Mason in and move Onwenu to RT... Mason needs to get back to 100% if possible... he’s a different guy that way.

By the way, is there any chance the Patriots and Texans make a trade with Easterby currently in charge down there?

Branch and ? Malcolm Butler not getting an honorable mention is pretty inexcusable. He won 2 rings... one as the SB hero that kicked off the bookend of the dynasty and the second as the top corner on the team. Asante Samuel is on the team with one ring as a big part of it (03 he was a bit player) and as a guy who couldn’t catch the ball to put away the perfect season. He’s also talked a lot of shit since he left, if we want to play that card, which I only bring up because of how Butler ended his time here. Less so but still worthy in my eyes is Vareen (honorable mention) for his performance in that Seattle SB. I get the arguments for Randy Moss and Welker but they never won rings and in the case of Moss it was an extremely short period of time.

No comeback today. SF has the answers and the Pats do not.

Do you know how much better an offense is with a tight end. This is 2 years in a row. Maybe coach will wake up in the off-season let someone else make some picks. There’s no offense. Cam looked like crap . All I know if they have a bad year and they have high picks do a better job in the draft. This kills me writing this. It’s so frustrating.

Time to bench Cam. Maybe even for next week, too.

Is a 2:7 TD:INT any good?

Cam Newton is one of the most overrated QB's of all time. Yes, he got knocked around and injured in Charlotte, but he has never been elite except for 1 year. The other years he was merely a league average / slightly above QB.
As far as the Hall of Fame? No Steve Grogan. Just Tom Brady. Come on, that is pretty silly.
Add: Oh....All Dynasty Team. Check that. Ha. How friggin' arrogant can you be ??

Reiss' guess is that this week may have been due to a substitution error on his part.

Patriots are now 4-8 in their last 12 games.. 2-4 with Brady / 2-4 without.
