I think the kid from Hawaii has a chance to be a bullpen guy. In Boston. I’ve only seen him pitch twice, but his two pitches might be able to play in the majors. Time will tell if his command and control improves! Wu-Yelland. Surprised you don't know his name after seeing him twice.

i can see a scenario where we have xander at short pretty much fulltime, jeter downs playing some short and second, and yorke playing 2nd and some 3rd kind of like the cubs infield a few years ago with russell, baez, zobrist/castro

He's a great player and all, but...

Don't see Yorke's arm playing at third at all. 2B-only for me.

It’s insane to think a kid, who was in high school last year, in his first mlb assignment is absolutely crushing a ball. It’s like his bat is talking, and it’s saying “promote me bitches”.
I think he gets a sone time in Greenville this year at his current pace, even if it’s only a few weeks.

Meh. The shoulder surgery was before the 2019 season. I'm not holding out hope that the shoulder(/arm strength) is going to improve much 2.5 years later.

Not bad for a massive reach that should have gone at least a round later.

Great (to me) to see him choking up a bit. Does/will the shoulder injury that has compromised arm strength on throws, reduce his power?

I'm not holding out hope that the shoulder(/arm strength) is going to improve much 2.5 years later. Yes but when was his arm grade applied and has his arm been reevaluated since then? And even at this moment the SP scouting report says his arm is "above average." Where did the "above average" come from and when was it applied?

I found it funny that the area scout Josh Labandeira wrote in his scouting report to Toboni that Yorke was "...King in the batter's box" lol

Nick Yorke is 3 for 3 today. He is hitting a lusty .368 for the whole of July with an OBP OF .465 and a SA of .569. OPS now at 1.004. Can a trip to Greenville be soon in the cards?

Yorke's season splits clearly into three phases: the initial struggle, the insane stretch when he got it going, and a merely great stretch. which may well be after the league figured out how to pitch to him.
.177 / .250 / .190, 88 PA through the first game of 5/30 doubleheader .398 / .486 / .602 in 111 PA through July 6
That got his season line up to:
.297 / .382 / .413
.304 / .403 / .411 in 67 PA since
So his season line now (.298 / .387 / .412) may understate his performance just a bit.
Top 19 year-old qualified hitters in low-A. Data is from FG and rankings are pre-season.
First the international players with previous rookie ball experience, with a better wRC+.
152 Orelvis Martinez, SS, Jays #4, #55 overall, FV 50, Nov. 19 birthday.
138 Marco Luciano, SS->?, Giant's #1,#6 overall, FV 60, Sept. 10, Also A- experience. 128 Euribiel Angelis, INF, Padres #23, FV 40. May 11.
124 Maikol Escotto, SS, Pirates #15, FV 40+. June 4.
There are many more of these guys.
Now the kids out of high school.
146 Tyler Soderstrom, C, A's #1, #37 overall, FV 50, Nov 24. #26 pick.
131 Robert Hassel, CF, Padres #4, #76 overall, FV 50, August 15. #8 pick. 128 Zac Veen, RF, Rockies #1, #83 overall, FV 50, Sept 12, #9 pick.
123 Nick Yorke, 2B, Red Sox #18, FV 40+, April 2. #17 pick. 112 Masyn Wynn, SS, Cardinals #6, FV 45, March 21. #54 pick. Just promoted to high-A.
That's all the qualified guys above 100.
Top 2 international guys and top 3 draftees are all 5+ months older than Yorke, so his relative youth should be a plus. Objectively, he's certainly been more impressive than Veen.
Yorke also has the 2nd best BB/SO (trailing only Hassel) of the 15 guys with a 110 or better wRC+.
Winn had a season very much like Yorke, though he cooled off much more severely:
.141 / .291 / .203 in 79 PA .369 / .450 / .571 in 100 PA .247 / .352 / .348 in 105 PA
Yorke has to be the 3rd most impressive draftee among position players, in terms of performance. And that's ignoring a pair of huge, odd splits that I'll look at in a bit.

I'm not going to post his triple line (Avg/OBP/Slg) because: -They're available and awesome. -It's Low A ball where weaker defenses might inflate the BABIP numbers and the whole OPS. I'm just gonna concentrate on "the Core offensive numbers" because they isolate the defense (to a certain degree) and subsequently are a better mirror of the true talent level of the hitter and let me tell ya: What this kid is doing is absolutely spectacular! Look at his monthly splits: He found a way to strikeout less while hitting the ball harder!!
| Walk Rate | strikeout Rate | Isolated Power | MAY | 8.8 % | 23.1 % | .024 | JUNE | 13.3 % | 13.3 % | .159 | JULY | 12 % | 9.8 % | .169 |
Remember folks, he's the third youngest player in his league entering the season. Oh, by the way, he's 2nd in his the Low-A East in Line Drives%. The definition of a pure hitter.

Not bad for a massive reach that should have gone at least a round later. Not a bad trade off to get Blaze Jordan who should have gone about where they picked Yorke.

Not bad for a massive reach that should have gone at least a round later. Not a bad trade off to get Blaze Jordan who should have gone about where they picked Yorke. Yorke is really coming on after a slow spring and slow start. If Blaze can continue to show and advance, great...But if he should have gone 17th in round one where Yorke was picked as you said, then a whole lot of teams overlooked Blaze b/t then and when the Sox took in round 3....some 70 picks later...We must be very smart and the other teams dumb and dumber. But, if so, I'm ok with that.

Blaze Jordan was about a year young for his class. He will not turn 19 until December 19. Many thought that he would be a high 2021 first round pick if he had delayed entry into the first year player draft until this year. The decision of the Sox to create the financial flexibility to draft Jordan in the 3rd round by drafting Yorke in the 1st round at a discount to slot is looking very shrewd.

From MassLive.com today:
Red Sox 2020 draft pick Blaze Jordan is batting .348 with a .397 on-base percentage, .621 slugging percentage, 1.018 OPS, three homers, seven doubles, one triple, 18 RBIs, 11 runs, six walks and 13 strikeouts in the Florida Complex League.

I'm wondering if the scouting hiatus didn't play a part in all this. Yorke is such a contained hitter, he just seems older than he is. If more eyes had seen him perhaps he might have been rated more highly. I'll take Jordan's FCL numbers for where they were posted. He may not be there much longer anyway.
