21 minutes for Rob is just not enough. This roster obviously needs an upgrade, but at the same time, Brad is just not putting this team in the best position to win.

Such a typical Celtics game. I agree on smart. ( personally why Ild deal him for someone who can shoot). And our bench. For should I say players running around the court giving starters a rest. Ainge should be embarrassed by his acquiring talent. Be it allll those draft picks or trades. Whatever it is he’s done a crap job getting talent in that bench. I also agree with the semi comments. Yuck. We aren’t going anywhere with this roster

ps, Tatum, every other "superstar" we face can figure out how to get an open 3 for themselves. Remains a mystery to you. Maybe it's film time. Bad take, Tatum was clearly the best player on the court tonight. He was unreal on offense, stout on defense, just great all around. The problem was the late game execution, Smart takes an iffy 3 and then follows it up by taking a downright out of balance bad shot to erase the previous miss and that essentially ended the game. It sucks that Nesmith isn't ready and Romeo is hurt because they BADLY need an extra wing out there. Semi and Pritchard combined for 30 minutes and they didn't attempt a single shot. Pritchard won't be that gun shy forever, but Semi is an issue.

You forget he traded pick 20 for pick 24 and pick 33. Then shipped pick 24 with Baynes to the sun's for pick 30 last year that was Bane. So yeah he could have just taken Clarke and traded pick 22 to the Suns to complete that deal. The downside? No Carson Edwards. I'm not nitpicking after the fact either, I had Clarke in the conversation at 14 that year. Should have been an easy choice, this wasn't he should have taken Gianni's type crap. You have to admit Danny hasn't been very good lately. BTW I know exactly who went in that draft, we had three picks, I studied that class for months. As for Saric if you can get him for Thompson that would be a brilliant move. I did forget that! Well, Grant wasn't a bad pick considering where he went. He did have that block against the Raps. Tough to get upset about any pick in the 20s not turning out to be Brandon Clarke. For the record, I wouldn't have taken alligator arms Clarke either. He was far from a sure thing. That deal makes sense for both teams considering personnel, but it's tricky because it depends on whether or not TT wants to go to the Suns. You can't trade him somewhere he doesn't want to be unless you plan on never signing a Klutch client ever again. But yeah, that trade would be AMAZING. You could even run a 2 big line-up with Saric and Timelord/Theis if you want. It gives us so much flexibility. Clarke had the second best per in College Basketball two years ago to only Zion. He's an athletic freak and great defender. Grant Williams was one of the worst athletes in the draft. I'm sorry that's a big mistake, I said it on draft night. It's just like Bane. I'm not close to the only one that felt that way, Clarke was the higher rated guy. Is Grant Williams a decent pick given his draft position? Sure, you still passed on Clarke though. Nevermind everything else I mentioned. Some people are going too far when they talk about firing them. Yet once again I'd say your the total opposite. Everythings peachy because we aren't the Rockets. I just don't agree with that. I love Danny he's been great for a long time. That doesn't mean he's been that good recently, same with Steven's. About a week to the deadline let's see what he does.

Summary of that game, Tatum, Brown and our centers Theis/Robert Williams were great. I mean Damn 48 minutes at center 29 points 20 rebounds. Walker was just okay, everyone else should be ashamed. 36 minutes for Semi and Grant 2 points, 22 minutes for Teague and Pritchard zero points and we got back Smart the SG not Smart the PG.

Pritchard won't be that gun shy forever, but Semi is an issue. To say Tatum was the best on the floor is a comparative statement. Ok, fine. It doesn't also mean he can actually get himself a 3. Watch Mitchell in the last few minutes. He can manage to get himself a 3 point shot. Tatum has a great 3-shot, but he really struggles to create one for himself when we need one. One of Tatums major flaws at present is his ball handling. He gets his pocket picked a lot more than you'd like to see a superstar get stripped. It also stands out on the break. If he gets pressured by a reach, sometimes it completely gets him stuck because in his mind, his confidence in his handle is low, so if you take away the thing he was just going to do, you can see his mind sort skip a beat and the confusion comes. Again, doesn't mean "he's bad" or "he wasn't better than the others on the court on his team, on this given night." I have criticisms of Brown too. They've both comes miles since they entered the league, hopefully Tatum's handle can still improve and he's not at his ceiling, and hopefully Brown's touch both at the foul line and in crunch time come around and he's not at his ceiling. They're both REALLY, REALLY good, but they leave you wanting more...and in a game against some of the best, you have to get more from them, and you can't have the supporting cast be so bad--bad shot choices, bad roster rotations, etc.

The only offense they would generate would have to come from watching as Tatum and Brown dance around for 40 minutes a game. Watch a Bane highlight game on the Grizzlies and you’ll see the rookie getting good clean looks with the ball, or Ja Morant drawing in the defense and hitting Bane wide open. Watch a Nesmith highlight game and you’ll see him sitting in the corner most everything is highly contested. Bane’s slow release and teeny arms would not do well waiting for passes from the iso kings.

But he sure hasn’t been championship quality either. One of best gms over past 3 years? Most definitely NOT

There are plenty of valid criticisms of the job he’s done, but his draft record ain’t one of them.

Missed the game last night but when checking the box score I see the C's had 4 foul shots for the entire game. That is strange and hard to believe and even harder to win a game when getting to the line only 4 times.

If we can get a decent bench guy (LMA? Maybe washed) on a buyout and a cheap wing, feeling good about playoffs. Anything from Romeo/Nesmith would be a bonus then. If not, meh. Teague/Semi/Grant/TT just ain't it. It's like the worst combo of vets and tweeners in the league for a bench and I'm not even exaggerating. Really disappointed with Grant tbh after last year's flashes. He's been bad and looks slow almost Semiesque in his tweenerness.
Kemba/Smart/JB/Tatum/Timelord has potential as a top 3 or 4 lineup in the league. Tho you have to wonder if Smart is better offensively running the bench unit and put more of an SG in the starting lineup like Pritchard. Defense might be rough but offense has the potential to be unstoppable.

Watch a Nesmith highlight game and you’ll see him sitting in the corner most everything is highly contested. Bane’s slow release and teeny arms would not do well waiting for passes from the iso kings. Clarke is the 18th ranked PF by RPM, 8th best defender. He's basically a young Nance Jr. type player. The defensive upgrade alone over Williams and Semi is massive. He doesn't need the ball, if you don't think he moves the needle I don't know what to say. He's exactly the type of guy you need to match up with teams and play small ball. They had 28 assists last night, if you hate that I don't know what to tell you. You seem to be focusing on that bad stretch when yeah it got really bad. They have been moving the ball better lately. The difference between Nesmith and Bane? Bane is actually ready to play and he's a plus defender. The difference between Bane and Nesmith is night and day. Would give you the ability to play a bigger guy in your backcourt that can actually play D. Instead of Teague and Pritchard, you could have Bane and Pritchard. That's huge because Pritchard's D at PG is most likely good, it's not good at SG. Kinda hard to be a great defensive team when you keep rolling out Walker, Teague and Pritchard at SG. I actually want to see Pritchard play PG. For me this teams biggest issues are depth, health and actually being able to matchup with teams. Adding 2 two way guys like Clarke and Bane changes everything. It changes the matchups and rotations in a massive way. It doesn't solve everything, yet you likely have a few more wins, a brighter future and it just made sense. I love so much about Grant Williams, yet he's a horrible athlete that is very limited. I have no clue what Danny was thinking.

Maybe overall, yet you need a PF, Clarke who people had going in the lottery is sitting there and you pick Williams who made the worst athlete at the combine list you deserve criticism. You trade the 30th pick with Bane sitting there, when your bench has guys like Edwards and Green. I'm a big believer in taking the best players available or the highest upside guys. If it's a crap draft and no one's there then so be it. When you pass on guys that you were lucky they were there it's a big mistake. Guys that fill a need and seemed like perfect fits. It doesn't mean Danny is horrible at drafting, yet I would love to know what he was thinking.

I understand trying to keep Timelord healthy but my god Stevens criminally underutilizes him.
Stevens needs to start taking these games seriously. And Jeff Teague needs to be banished to the shadow realm.

This team just doesn’t care. Yikes. Yeah it's looking pretty bad. I think it's more that they're exhausted than not caring, but the point stands. Bucks fighting against a really tough Philly team and we can't even scratch the Cavaliers. Lol. Edit: Now Timelord is hurt. Just end this painful season please. Thanks NBA for increased injury season. Dude double doubled in 23 mins with 2 steals and 3 blocks, he's absolutely insane. I just hope it's nothing serious... Can't catch a break.

1-3 since the All-Star break, with three of those games being extremely winnable. Talk about a soft, unfocused, poorly coached basketball team.

Honestly, you fire Brad or Danny or both at this point. You have to do something to shake things up because clearly there is a 1) coaching failure and 2) roster building failure.

Hey I guess everyone has their own definition of success for sure

Exhausted because they don’t have the depth to compete and draft picks have been horrible overall along with free agent signings. Put simply: be it Danny ainge or Danny ainge and his team below him; someone(s) need to be shown the exit door or we aren’t going to be hanging another banner till they do ( short of a major free agent signing which I don’t see happening and I see Tatum and brown asking out before that happens. For whatever reason ainge can’t find complimentary pieces to his two stars. He’s hung his hat on his draft picks but short of Williams, brown, Tatum, and Pritchard they have been wasted picks ( and I’m not a Marcus smart is a star guy... but eh ok throw him in). 5 picks over past decade ... so if he can’t draft well then be able to evaluate free agents better because this is trash.

Yeah blame Danny for the roster. Yet blame Steven's for coaching. What Smart forgot how to pass? I was loving Smart at the start of the year, it was like he finally reached his potential.
Steven's talks about Nesmith finishing games, then he doesn't play anymore.
I didn't like the Teague signing for his D and declining scoring, yet now he can't pass.
You have to play team ball, 19 assists isn't playing team ball and eight of them came from our centers. This is just getting crazy.

It's very easy to prove that Danny is bad at drafting as long as you:
1. Provide NO other comparison other than what you wish would've happened. 2. Exclude all the picks that he absolutely crushed (even though, in some cases, they "bucked convention") 3. Include only: a. Picks that have an expectation of mediocre to worse return b. Picks that were made for cap purposes not draft purposes (Guerschon) c. Picks that it's too early to give up on (Nesmith and Langford)
It's valid to be mad at this team. It's valid to be mad at the roster construction. It's valid to WISH that we'd have something more to show for picks.
But to try and pawn that of as analytical when you are removing or manipulating all context is faulty, at best.

I don't for a second think Danny is bad at drafting, yet he certainly has stretches of head scratching type picks.
Everyone gives him a pass on Yabu because he wanted to stash him, yet why not trade the pick? He breaks my rule of best player or upside guy. Everyone had him ranked in the second round. No team would trade a late first for a middle of the first pick? He shouldn't get a pass for that.
The passing on Clarke for Grant Williams just made no sense. I crossed Grant Williams off my draft board because he was an undersized PF who couldn't jump. He shouldn't get a pass for that.
Trading Bane to dump 5 million in salary is again something he shouldn't get a pass for. Especially because that in turns results in Thompson over other better free agents. You could have just taken Carey, Oturu or Tillman to be your third center. How in the world Danny thought spending on an upgrade over Kanter was worth the 30th pick and Kanter versus getting a guy to somewhat replace Hayward just blows my mind.
That's about it for recent picks and major issues. I wasn't a fan of the Nesmith pick, yet that's about where he was ranked. I liked the Langford pick no matter what he does. Can't complain about the Edwards pick. He nailed the Robert Williams pick. He's certainly not horrible, that doesn't mean he hasn't made head scratching moves either.
The bigger issue is why Danny thought basically trading Hayward for Thompson made sense. Why trading Wanamaker for Teague made sense. He knew Langford wasn't going to be ready. He knew Kemba wasn't going to be ready and would not come close to playing a full season. What was his plan? That's the bigger worry, because it made zero sense from the moment he did it.
