It's going to get blasted as another failure for Danny but I'm starting to agree with those that say they shouldn't be buying this year. There isn't much to sell mind you but you need to start forcing the younger guys into consistent roles (or, better said, forcing Brad to put them into consistent roles).

I'm all for passing on bandaid type moves, like George Hill or Eric Bledsoe type crap. I'm crazy torn on Barnes. Yet I'm all in on Lonzo Ball. It won't fix everything. Yet Theis, Tatum, Brown, Smart and Ball is a lineup I can get behind. Move Walker to the bench because him missing games just will not allow us to get chemistry. If you can't get him so be it.
You want to save that trade exception for the off-season okay, I'm not sure I agree, yet okay. Then at minimum go make some small moves to at minimum give us some chance.
Trade Thompson for Biyombo and Devonte Graham. Per ESPN trade machine that works. Then do a separate trade to send Teague there or just release him. Gives you a legit backup PG that loves to shoot three's, yet also dishes out tons of assists and it should be a defensive upgrade. Grahams a restricted free agent next year and Hornets don't need a PG. Thompson would actually be an upgrade for them. Biyombo at one time was a good defensive center, so he's not a bad fit for our third center. Best part is that it removes Thompson.
You play Theis/Williams, Tatum, Brown, Smart, Walker/Graham. Cross your fingers and pray that Langford can at least be a good defensive wing when he gets back. I could live with that.

Honestly, I don't care if Danny buys or sells but he simply cannot sit on his damn hands again. My ideal situation is trading Theis for something of value before he demands a big bag. Play the young guys to figure out what you have. Everyone not named Jaylen, Jayson, Smart, and Timelord on the table in trades. Scoop up a nice late lottery talent in the draft and call it a day.

In a spot where it's hard to get excited about the draft this year but KOC has quickly become my favorite when it comes to draft guides. The initial 2021 version has arrived: nbadraft.theringer.com/

They’re worse than I expected but honestly not to the point where I’m overly alarmed. I figured they weren’t actual contenders this year and that it would mostly be a development year for Brown and Tatum while identifying the pieces they wanted to move forward with
Did not expect 20-20 though. If you asked me how many wins we would have at the 40 game mark I would have told you 23- they’ve blown the hell out of some winnable games too so they should actually be beyond that.

The fire Brad camp is growing. I think they will give him into the first half of next season at least. But this team has underperformed starting in the Toronto series.
To look at this roster and say that Danny hasn’t assembled enough talent to win is strange to me. You have a top 10 center (Williams), 2 top 10 wings, a top 10 point guard (Walker) and one of the best glue guys in the league in Smart. That’s as talented a starting 5 as any in the league.
Yet Williams is still not playing enough considering his production. Nesmith hasn’t seen the floor. He has been good when I’ve watched him, better than Semi and Grant. Theis and Thompson are very good backups. Pritchard has become a catch and shoot player, ditching the feisty drives, kicks and finishes we saw in the beginning of the season in favor of sitting around watching Tatum and Brown play around with loose dribbles and fadeaways.
I honestly have stopped watching this team. I so enjoyed watching Tatum and Brown develop into stars. Now that they are at that level, this team is horrible to watch. And they are probably even less fun to play with. And Brad has to know better, but I don’t know if he has the stones to change it.
The only way to truly change this team for the better is to get a player that can demand more from Jayson and Jaylen, because Brad’s not gonna do that. If you trade for Harrison Barnes or the wing shooter they “so desperately need,” you’re going to get just another guy who takes his seat on the Jay-Train.
This team needs a player who can take the ball and say “screw your numbers, will you make the players around you better so that you can WIN.”
I think Jayson and Jaylen can get there eventually. Jordan and Kobe did. But Jordan got to watch Bird scratch and claw for finals wins. Kobe got to watch Jordan give up big shots to guys named Kerr and Buechler.
This is a whole different generation. A generation that is extremely well paid but daps up the opposing team after losing in the playoffs.
I love Lebron, and I think he will go down as the greatest ever. But there is no doubt he cares more about his image than any superstar I have ever witnessed. That’s who these guys have to look up to.
That Heat team last year were about as talented as the Heat team this season. But they have Jimmy Butler, who slept on people’s couches as a teenager and is a goddamn murderer in the playoffs. He his a cold, bad man.
This Celtics team plays like entitled rich snobs.

If your fine with having all those draft picks over the past 4 years and having a bench that looks like this and see that as success and saying he’s drafted well or used those picks well.... then I guess your ok with being in contention to not make the playoffs while we have elite all star players on the team. Hey I guess everyone has their own definition of success for sure Lol, what in the world are you talking about? You said Danny ainge is not a failure at drafting players. I said ok sure with all those draft picks if your definition of success is to have our bench and our record and only 6 players hit of all those picks then hey yeah we have been a success. I define success as more than 7th seed in East

I don't for a second think Danny is bad at drafting, yet he certainly has stretches of head scratching type picks. Everyone gives him a pass on Yabu because he wanted to stash him, yet why not trade the pick? He breaks my rule of best player or upside guy. Everyone had him ranked in the second round. No team would trade a late first for a middle of the first pick? He shouldn't get a pass for that. The passing on Clarke for Grant Williams just made no sense. I crossed Grant Williams off my draft board because he was an undersized PF who couldn't jump. He shouldn't get a pass for that. Trading Bane to dump 5 million in salary is again something he shouldn't get a pass for. Especially because that in turns results in Thompson over other better free agents. You could have just taken Carey, Oturu or Tillman to be your third center. How in the world Danny thought spending on an upgrade over Kanter was worth the 30th pick and Kanter versus getting a guy to somewhat replace Hayward just blows my mind. That's about it for recent picks and major issues. I wasn't a fan of the Nesmith pick, yet that's about where he was ranked. I liked the Langford pick no matter what he does. Can't complain about the Edwards pick. He nailed the Robert Williams pick. He's certainly not horrible, that doesn't mean he hasn't made head scratching moves either. The bigger issue is why Danny thought basically trading Hayward for Thompson made sense. Why trading Wanamaker for Teague made sense. He knew Langford wasn't going to be ready. He knew Kemba wasn't going to be ready and would not come close to playing a full season. What was his plan? That's the bigger worry, because it made zero sense from the moment he did it. Exactly!! Ainge has an ego problem I believe. He wants to win big every time. And then gets stuck in the salary cap issue. Be forward thinking or pick best player available. Regardless this years picks and trades of picks were just horrible. If he can’t do better than this replace him with someone who can.

If you want that right you get a no trade clause in your contract. Let me guess you also thought we couldn't trade Kemba Walker, yet Danny offered him to a bunch of teams and that would be way worse. He's a max level guy.

I would say hitting on Tatum, Jaylen, Marcus, Robert Williams, and Pritchard is a success, yes. And that’s not counting some of the other hits that are contributing elsewhere, such as Terry. He’s let a lot of talent go, and hasn’t done a good enough job replacing that talent. Some of that has been his fault, some hasn’t, but that’s a far bigger reason for the Celtics’ struggles. But his draft picks are the only reason they’re a playoff team right now. This isn’t hard.

Shoot Phoenix had worse picks than us and is much better. Philadelphia had two top picks and are much better AND they fired their gm because he wasn’t good enough. I’m glad your ok with 7th place and say it’s great draft record. That’s a joke to me and below average on what expectations should be

"I don't know what they're gonna do, but I hope he gets traded," he said about the possibility of the New Orleans Pelicans trading his son, Lonzo. "I don't like watching him play like he plays. ... He can't stand New Orleans, come on man."

Yes, I think Danny would talk with TT and his staff to get his blessing on any trade. Besides, your package sucks even regardless of that because Graham is 6-1 and Biyombo doesn't do the one thing we currently need out of a big man for this roster, which is shooting. And yes, I also think we couldn't trade Kemba. And we didn't.

And yes, I also think we couldn't trade Kemba. And we didn't. You base this off what exactly? Over the fact he's LeBron's agent? He has 28 clients? If Danny actually acted like that he needs to be fired. It's Tristan Thompson, not a star player. I don't get your hate for the Hornets either, they have a better record than we do. He'd get a bigger role holding a player option for next year. They have the likely ROY. Danny tried to trade him, no one would bite. He didn't hold onto him because of some sort of unwritten rules you believe in. It's bad optics, yet teams do it. Blake Griffin didn't even last a year in LA after his big deal. No one player is completely fixing this team. It adds a true backup PG, who can really shoot the three and score, while dishing out assists. He's a more complete Wayne Ellington. Certainly not my first choice, yet if you don't want to use the exception or trade picks it limits your options.

At no point have I ever said I’m okay with 7th place, so get outta here with that garbage. I’m sorry I thought drafting good players meant your team performs better..?? Maybe I’m wrong? Na actually for a bit of goal post education- when you draft better players over time and many of them with 2 top 3 picks. A top 6 pick 2 more lottery picks and 6 other first round picks. As you take high quality players and 2 all stars your team performs better. As of right now they are NOT performing well at all! I would say that’s an issue of drafting g the right players. His draft picks and trading of draft picks has directly led to this team being a 7th place team because it’s comprised primarily of players either picked up in draft or used draft picks to trade so they could acquire said players. Those picks or use of those picks has helped guide this team to a poor bench and 7th place seeding right now. That to me is poor use of all those draft picks

“Many of them with 2 top 3 picks” very creative language there to reinforce a point you are trying to make.
