As far as Parker on paper it's perfect. A scoring PF to take Grant Williams and Semi minutes when needed. He’s a very skilled scorer. Yet everything I've seen is an anti team player that plays no D. So he has to buy in, maybe he's finally ready to do that. This is exactly it, is he ready to buy in? It seems like he has been around forever yet he is only 25. At some point he needs to buy in or he will have a shortened career, the C's are team #6 in 3 years. Maybe the C's will be the team that gets him to be a team player, Stevens has a great track record of getting the best out of guys. I like the 2 years, hopefully he can stay healthy. Steven's is great if the players buy in. If they don't the freedom he gives players turns into Irving or Teague playing way too much iso, not enough D and killing team ball. I bring up Irving because I've seen a ton of that with Parker in his career. So let's hope that basically years of nothing have changed him. It's not a talent issue with him. It's a he's his own worst enemy type thing. If I had to bet, this is either brilliant or a disaster. 2018 playoffs he was rather big for the Bucks, a big reason they pushed us to seven games. If we get that guy, Danny has done a brilliant job balancing the roster and adding pieces. Just so painful to watch Semi and Grant play so many minutes and do nothing in most games.

I can’t see Parker being a disaster. He’s a bit piece that doesn’t need to play if he sucks. It’s not like he can derail the team.

www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba/kendrick-perkins-criticizes-jayson-tatums-leadership-theres-a-lot-of-bad-body-language/ar-BB1foJ2L I don't have an issues with any of that, Tatum needed to hear that. I've never worried about Tatum and Covid, it was the way he was playing. Which Stevens also deserves blame because he started it. You can't tell me you love Tatum's body language when he doesn't get a call, it was horrible.
A bunch of us complained about Robert Williams minutes when he was getting 15, while Thompson/Theis got much more. I have zero complaints the last ten games, that's about what you want.
I don't call Robert Williams missing a game with a sore knee a maintenance plan. Every team does that, with every player. Kemba Walker is on a maintenance plan, he misses x amount of games no matter how he feels. They aren't doing that with Williams.
My honest opinion is Stevens wanted to play Theis/Thompson over Williams because they are veterans. So Danny fixed that problem, which isn't a great look for Steven's. Yet that was Danny's way to force Steven's to start Williams and give him big minutes. So our GM doesn't seem too worried about Robert Williams durability.
I actually think all of this makes Steven's look worse and kinda highlights his issues as a coach.
Regarding Timelord, can't the simplest explanation be the more likely one or occam's razor. William's improved play allowed Danny to trade him. There is no one to blame nor is there even a blame situation here but merely a natural progression. Do you think they are a better team with Kornet over Theis? Would you rather have Semi or Theis? Do you think Steven's starts Robert Williams if Danny doesn't force his hand? I guess if you answer yes to all of those I could see your point. I put some blame on Steven's because I don't think any of those are true. So Danny had to weaken the roster or do what no GM wants to do and that's tell a coach who to play. I love Steven's yet there's times when he's too much of a players coach and he'll do these crazy lineups to get players minutes he feels deserves them or he owes it to a player. That gets you Theis and Thompson starting a ton of games while moving Tatum to SF. Going back further that gets you playing Irving and Rozier together when it just didn't work. Steven's is tricky give him too much talent at spots where it's not easy to play them together and it creates issues. He simple won't bench guys or greatly reduce there minutes. Danny had to remove the two big option because Stevens wouldn't. Yet now our third center is Kornet and that could be a huge issue against a team like the Sixers.

Given Theis/Green for Wagner/Kornet saved you 2.1 million. If you keep Thompson and the young guys you want, Grant Williams or any combo of two of Green, Semi and Edwards. It would have been rather easy. So let me get this right. Danny knew they weren't keeping Theis, but he should have traded a guy that's actually part of the future in Grant (although not in a great role) or given up some assets to move Green, Semi or Edwards. Because no team would take on that trash for free. You're overthinking this bro. Trading Theis was the logical thing to do. It didn't happen because of how Stevens was using RW3.

I wouldn't define disaster as derailing the team and I don't have your faith that Steven's just won't play him when the other options are Grant and Semi. He's got four times the talent those guys have. kingsherald.com/articles/jabari-parker-may-have-broken-nba-coronavirus-protocol/I think that shows how he has issues. I'd also call it a disaster if he actually fits in, changes things in a big way and once again gets injured. Yet at this point with his natural talent it was worth the gamble. In a perfect world he's just another bench guy that can go off and help you win those all offense no defense games. A playoff bench with Fournier, Thompson, Pritchard and Parker is a crazy step up scoring wise from a few weeks ago. That's four guys that can realistically give you ten plus points in any game they play. So I'm rooting crazy hard for this to workout. I'm not trying to be negative, it's just how I look at things.

I'd say the difference in trading say Semi and Green over Theis is a second pick and some money to cover their salaries, something they also did in the Theis deal. If Robert Williams isn't part of this, if stopping two big man lineups isn't part of it, then it seems rather foolish no? I'd say Theis as a third center is easily worth a 2nd round pick for the rest of this year and a playoff run. Good chance you once again have to go through Embiid and the Sixers. Theis as another big body would be huge given what happened last game. I wanted to throw in the towel on Kornet, I was worried he might actually get hurt by Embiid. Unless you think Theis for a 2nd round pick is bad value? Thompson has a player option, while unlikely he could opt out. So Theis as insurance isn't a bad thing with full bird rights. Gave you the ability to sign and trade him. For me keeping Theis is the smart value play, just like when Danny kept Rozier and especially because Danny got nothing in value for Theis.

Parker was teammates with Semi in college so hopefully they’re close and that helps him assimilate and buy in

Wagner is terrible so no loss there.

What a game
Interesting they trust Jabari so much to play him in the 4th. I dig it, he’s clearly talented

Lazy defense especially early, but hopefully, the team playing hard is infectious. I’m fairly certain, he’s never had guys like Smart and Thompson who do the dirty work and are so respected on his team. There’s no way Smart wouldn’t get on him if he’s dogging it game after game.

I think the additions of Fournier, Parker and the Green Kornet have rounded out the roster (good moves Danny), inspired the Jays and the overall health (Did you know the Celts lost more games to Covid than any other team? and by a wide margin over the teams above them in the Eastern Conference.) has improved to make the Celtics post-season run look optimistic as when the season started.

Lots to like about Parker getting meaningful minutes game 1. The addition of Fournier and Parker could be exactly what they need, along with a healthy Timelord.
What are the chances Fournier will be here beyond this year is my question. Is it at least a decent chance? I know Danny said he has hopes but will it take him accepting less money or can they afford him?

Fournier coming back is tricky. The better he plays, obviously the more you'd want him back. At the same time that increases the chances that some bad team does something stupid and offers him a big contract. It really comes down to does he like Boston, what were willing to pay versus the market. Is Fournier worth going deep into the tax? The difference between 12, 15 and 20 million a year is going to be rather big in a few years. I'm sure Danny wants him back, yet I'd say it's 50-50 right now. Let's see what he does in the playoffs, for me that's always the way to determine a players value to the team.

I think he will likely be resigned at a high number, and then traded for another exception. Stevens has routinely inflated the value of guys like Fournier, Turner, and Thomas. Fournier is a nice player. But the rest of the league will be watching as he has some real moments in the second round against Brooklyn or Philadelphia, and some team will try to pay him above what he’s worth. In a most simplistic way, if Hayward was worth 30 million a year, and Fournier is at least 2/3 the player of hayward, then Fournier will probably make at least 20 on the open market.

Jabari is a legit weapon. He could be Boris Diaw plus on a team that really needed shot creation. He’s never been the playmaker Boris was, but his combination of size and quickness could make him an awesome 7th or 8th guy off the bench.

Fournier is a tricky guy to peg, but timing of free agency matters. Here’s a look at Cap Space for next year: ** denotes cap space with cap holds renounced if team salary was below the cap maximum. Assumes veteran club options declined and non-guaranteed players released. So that’s 15 teams that could sign him if they denounce all their cap-holds so the amount of cap space teams will have is actually less. Take out NOLA - they aren’t renouncing Ball My guess is take out Chicago - don’t think they kept Lauri only to lose him via free agency Cleveland is probably keeping Jarret Allen So really about 12 teams. The Knicks are keeping Randle at 20.7m - that’s a no brainer so they do have one less salary slot. What happens with Toronto and Lowrie will be interesting - if he resigns then it takes them out of an option and if he doesn’t then he probably takes another team out. He’s probably a great fit in Dallas. It’s a weird free agent market for players and there’s quite a bit of cap space. My guess is some guys get extremely overpaid and Fournier could be one. We have to see how he fits here, but hopefully it works and they keep him.

I can agree with everything else after your first sentence. Agree to disagree. I see the Timelord situation as being a good problem and I too would have liked to see Timelord start sooner but their is only 48 minutes a game out of the center position and the team had 3 candidates that all could have made a valid claim to start. From Celtics Blog, "Financially, the Daniel Theis trade makes sense. The Celtics avoided the luxury tax in an underwhelming season, delaying repeater penalties down the road by at least a year. They also simplified their rotation, scrapping the double-big lineups that never seemed to fully pan out this season. More minutes for Robert Williams seem to be in the cards, and they’ve cleared a roster spot to potentially add another contributor in the buyout market." I liked Theis alot, thought he was very underrated even by many Celts fans, but when you undertstand the financials of it and that he was about to become a free agent AND he was one of the only trades chips we had that had real value it does make sense.
