Vazquez keeps the line moving. What a relief to see the offense showing more than a pulse.

Orioles >> Red Sox >> Rays. AL East back-half pecking order established! Who do we play next? Oh no...

Rays might lose 100 games. I'm starting to think you might be the most reactionary person on this planet This is a bad team. I don’t think they’ll really lose 100, but it wouldn’t shock me. It isn’t just this game... it is not a team that appears designed to score a lot, and its pitching is obviously much worse than last year. And it appears not to be that good defensively. Not a great combo.

The boys seem extra fired up to start this year, don't they? Loving the intensity this early in the season.

Relax and enjoy the win... sheesh.

Give me this from Nate Eovaldi every time. Nice job on the 99 mph fastball to end the 6th.

The thing about Eovaldi that amazes me is he never seems to throw a fastball under 97. It is just 98, 99, 100. I honestly can’t remember seeing anyone else throw that hard, that consistently as a starter. He is a machine like that.

So the complaint this season is going to be that the team is too heavily skewed toward home-grown talent? No, the complaint is that so far the reinforcements are awful. And I guess it's going to be your response to every possible event. New guy strikes out? Obviously the reinforcements are awful. Bogaerts gets an RBI? He's not a new guy - just goes to show the reinforcements are awful.
Here's a prediction: Kiké will hit better than he has so far. He'll be great on defense, play with energy, and once he inevitably gets taken out of the leadoff spot against righties we'll all grow to really appreciate him. ADD: Base hit off a righty!
(I do not vouch for Renfroe.)

Vazquez has been so impressive. From Alex Speier Twitter, during game today - "Since the start of 2019, there are 18 catchers with 500+ PAs. Vázquez entered today ranked third in fWAR (5.2), behind only Realmuto (7.6) and Grandal (7.2)." "Christian Vázquez destroys a homer for the second time in as many days. The idea of him as a DH five years ago would have been absurd. It is not anymore." From MLB stat tracking - Christian Vázquez is habitually timely with his home run. By going deep for a two-run shot that snapped a 1-1 tie on Wednesday, it was Vázquez's 22nd of 42 career homers that have either tied the game or put the Red Sox ahead. Vázquez also set up Tuesday's thrilling comeback win in 12 innings by ripping a game-tying, solo shot in the bottom of the ninth.

I do not think he’ll hit .111. I don’t even think Renfroe will bat .167. But the big 3/4 need the other guys to do more than break the Mendoza line to be a playoff threat. Anyway, the best thing about today’s game has been Eovaldi with a fantastic performance. Best start of the season for any Sox pitcher.

I admittedly wanted this team to splurge on George Springer. He's off to a not-so-great start with a quad injury during rehab from an oblique injury.
I wanted this team to make a push for Trevor Bauer and his debut was met with 4 ER (2 HR) in 6.1 IP. Not a great 1st start.
Corey Kluber is one of my favorite pitchers. Not sure how his stuff actually was, but 4.0 IP with 0 ER was better than Garrett Richards (but maybe NY was Kluber's only desired destination).
None of the off-season moves, or lack of moves, (in this incredibly small sample size) have made me shake my head as of yet.
JBJ and Benintendi appear to be cooked and I really believe the short-term guys are just bridgey players to Jeter Downs and Jarren Duran. Maybe even Michael Chavis if he can figure out something in AAA.
