I think it's subject to blackout restrictions, but for those not in the area, today's game is being broadcast on YouTube I'm a local and this is certainly not due to blackout restrictions. I hope that NESN gets back to covering these games, instead of Bruins replays..

JBJ and Benintendi appear to be cooked... Benintendi? Maybe. He’s been sputtering for a while now, but it won’t surprise me to see him re-emerge as a solid regular. JBJ? I doubt he’s cooked at all. We know better than anyone that you have to take the good stretches at the dish with the horrific ones. It would be surprising if Jackie wasn’t a really valuable all around player during the life of his new contract.

Some nice swings from Bobby today with two hits and a lineout. All contact day too, looks ready to start hitting now.

We know better than anyone that you have to take the good stretches at the dish with the horrific ones. It would be surprising if Jackie wasn’t a really valuable all around player during the life of his new contract. JBJ's numbers are typically skewed by white-hot stretches. I don't believe he was a very good defender in 2019, 2020 seemed OK, and in limited sampling of 2021 is also not great (mainly because of RF). But I'm also borderline illiterate when looking at defensive numbers. He's a career .730 OPS hitter whose off to .063/.063/.250/.313 in 5 games and 16 at-bats. I don't doubt he'll have his Ted Williams-like month in July to help him float around .730-.750. Benintendi I hope can be an ML regular. It's amazing how often he swings and misses now and even when he makes contact how little power he generates. This was a guy who was ranked 1/2 in baseball and was compared to Christian Yelich. Unreal.

What was up with Taylor whipping the baseball at the end of the game? Attitude issues?

What was up with Taylor whipping the baseball at the end of the game? Attitude issues? Probably just pissed he gave up a run with 2 outs

I’ve always thought the Benny trade was a great deal but with the way Franchy is playing I think the rest of the crowd will come along very soon. I have no idea what the Royals were thinking. Franchy, Lee, and 2 PTBNL for Benny? Oof.

Nathan Eovaldi is going to put that trophy right next to his World Series ring.

Nathan Eovaldi is going to put that trophy right next to his World Series ring. It's a sweet looking trophy! I'm jealous! Smoltz was having a hard time biting his tongue about its significance to the winner, though.

Great game and great series for the Sox and badly needed. I won't go as far as saying Tampa will lose 100 games but they don't seem to be anywhere near as strong as last season. Losing Snell and Morton are huge obviously and Anderson's loss from the pen and the Rays offense wasn't that great to begin with, they look like a middling team at best, which means they're probably not much better/worse than the Red Sox.
Eovaldi looked great and Vazquez/JDM/Devers/X did their thing. Good to see Franchy and Dalbec play well. I anticipate 35 HRs or so from Dalbec but if Cordero blossoms he could be a difference maker in the lineup.

Excellent Series. So for you goys out there that had irrational responses to the Orioles sweep, calm down, OK ?

Team OBP is 29th of 30 ... rising above 20th might make this team watchable Wed & Thu face LHP. ERod goes on Thur ? Off day on Friday in Baltimore Team OBP is now .306 15th in MLB ! Outlook is suddenly sunny ...

See the good things that happen when you let your starter throw 90 pitches ? If Cora has done that in Nate's first start we might be 4-2, OK ?

ERod heading off 3 games vs the Orioles and we avoid Means... if Richards isn’t awful again hopefully we’re looking at 6-3.

By optioning him on the 6th, they can recall him the morn of the 17th. The optioned players cannot be recalled during first 10 days of the season. Earliest for Brewer, etc. is April 11th. (Regardless of when they were optioned on March) Injury exception is available. The rule wasn't so strict years back Fair point but are they allowed to play today with 25? If so then it makes perfect sense. www.thecubreporter.com/book/export/html/3508You're right. Rule REQUIRES 26. Unless unusual circumstances. Maybe they announced the option, but the transaction is recorded after today's game.

For me this message board is exponentially more enjoyable after a Sox sweep. It’s wonderful when the sky is NOT falling on us. I’m not trying to give a subtle admonition to the more pessimistic among us. You gotta be you, and it’s a better board with a wide variety of opinions and points of view.
I’m genuinely just saying it’s fun to be happy. The bats absolutely came to life and the pitching was fantastic. Great series!

Who knew we could get a sweep after the world was ending just a few days ago! I honestly thought they'd win 2 out of 3.
So, we just swept the Rays, matchups being mutual 5th starters, their ace against our #6 or #7, and their #2 against our #3. The final scores actually correlate to the matchups! Took us 12 to win the more-lopsided-than-is-usually possible one. We won the slight disadvantage game by 7, and the even one by 9.
Dalbec had 2.8 expected hits. His single in the 8th had an 84.5 EV but an .830 xBA, and that was skill, not luck. The lineout to 3rd in the fifth was 86.9, .920 and IIRC was also a case of doing what he could do with a pitch and not trying to do too much. His first hit was 100.9, .880.
Dever's GDP was 98.7, .560. Kiké had 2.46 xHits, including 109.3 off McHugh. Cordero's single was 106.9, .630.
102.9, 39 LA, 383' -- CV's homer yesterday 104.9, 27 LA, 376', barrel -- today
Eovaldi had a little luck on balls in play, as he allowed 4.47 xHits. But he gave up just 4 official hard hit balls, 3 actual (95 is considered the minimum only because it's a round number), and none had an xBA of .500+. We had 8 out of those. Arozarena got the only Rays' one off of Taylor.
