Can someone explain to me how April can almost be over and Dalbec despite hitting a respectable .250 still doesn't have a home run? Has he changed his approach to cut down on the strikeouts? Is he playing hurt?

You can not throw a strike to the ever dangerous Marwin Gonzalez.

Disgusting backdoor cutter from E-Rod He's averaging the lowest fastball velocity of his career today, but his command continues to be sharp.

The velo can be down a little bit if the secondaries are working like this. Hopefully it ticks back up though. It is kinda crappy out so hopefully that’s just the explanation

These Mariners hitters are sure finding the open spots when they do put it in play today

M’s pitchers: 29 strikes in 67 pitches. That is amazing. Maybe Raffy ran into an out, but I suspect the Sox will not miss that one run at the end of the day. This looks like a pad-the-stats game. Please don't say that. Eddy's velo is down today and I trust nothing after the other nights' meltdowns.

These Mariners hitters are sure finding the open spots when they do put it in play today The three doubles off of E-Rod that factored into the 2 RA have a total 0.89 expected hits. He has 2.87 xHits so far.
And the Sox 3rd best-hit ball (102.1, .46 xHit) was Dalbec's first-inning GDP.

Yep, could see this from the eye test alone. Grounders just finding the best spots, pretty unlucky.

Not that others aren't, but E-Rod particularly seems a different pitcher when he doesn't have good velo. Let's hope that he can get back to 95-96 when he is dominant. It does seem that every year he has quite a bit of fluctuation in the FB velo.

Weak contact, 7 strikeouts, and no walks will usually get you better results than 3 runs in 5 innings.

Another brutal squander.
Also, watching Renfroe try to hit is difficult enough versus lefties. Against a righty it's borderline torture.

Great process from Eduardo today and in all of his starts so far. If he keeps it up, he's going to have the best year of his career.

Red Sox power really stood out in this game so far. as long as we get those power walks we should be fine.
