That feels like the game right there. It's 1-1 in the 5th and they're playing the Orioles. The Baltimore Orioles.
Yeah, that's true, but that was such a blown opportunity that was inches from a HR.

The 108-win 2018 Red Sox lost to the 47-win 2018 Orioles three times. It's baseball, you don't win every game. Relax.

Perez really settled down. His change has really cooled Baltimore tonight

Perez currently has a 32 strikeouts and 12 walks on the season. That'll play.

Giving Perez the hook after 74 mostly effective pitches? Seems like you'd at least let him pitch until he allowed a baserunner in the 6th.
It isn't like the pen needs work.
Edit: GRRRRR.

Franchy should not be in the majors. He's awful. Maybe we can trade him back for benny. Think KC will bite, lol.

whoops, guess I misread, my bad! I wasn't trying to say the team was bad. I was just saying, for today, that seems like the play of the game to put the team over the top. Now they trail 2-1 late.

Andriese has taken a step back in the trust factor.

If this attempt at having Andriese throw three innings as part of stretching him out in case the Sox need another starter, the results were less than encouraging.
And I still think that Cora pulled the plug on Perez too soon. The argument that he was going to be facing the Orioles for a third time and was thus vulnerable, is belied by the fact that he got the top of the order out without incident in the fifth.

It is not easy to sweep a team in 4 games at their home site.

I do have a soft spot for soft-tossing closers (see, e.g., my avatar).

Pulling Martin so early when he was settling in and put that clown in? Most people saw this coming. This loss is on Cora

Pulling Martin so early when he was settling in and put that clown in? Most people saw this coming. This loss is on Cora Meh. They scored 1 run. They were gunna lose if they were not gunna score. Maybe this is on the 1-12 connection of Marwin, Renfroe, Franchy, and Dalbec. Sure Devers had a bad game, but this is the moment that middle needs the others to pick them up... and they fail. (Verdugo not lighting it up of late, either).

they swung at a lot of bad pitches, especially Dalbec. He should have walked to load the bases, but he swung at pitches way inside. they had no walks tonight, but could have had at least 3 i saw.

Oh well. Maybe the 2018 Sox would've swept, but 3 of 4 is perfectly fine. That's what a good team does.
