They keep mooning over how hot Renfroe's been in May, but he only had a .266 OBP and .715 OPS coming into today. He was .327/.327/.615 with 3 2B and 4 HR through May 14. They just missed that he fell off a cliff between the 15th and 25th with a .115/.179/.115 in 7 games. Does anyone know what is going on with Duran. He has not played the last 2 AAA games? Woo Sox are being no-hit tonight. He's off to play for the USA in the Olympic qualifying games. EDIT - As are Casas & Downs Downs hasn't left yet. The Team USA guys reported Monday. Enmanuel De Jesus left Portland today. No idea when Downs and his brother will need to report to Team Colombia but Downs is playing tonight.

And Benny homers to tie the score for KC against Tampa in the 9th!

If Arroyo is back and hitting there could be a couple of changes. He could land 2b position moving Kiki to OF full time. There has to be some pressure on Dalbec now. With a tight Div. how long is Cora going to go with him at 1b if Santana is hitting and can play a decent right side. Or you could move Devers to 1b and put Santana or one of the other Utl guys at 3b. I don't want to pick on Dalbec but Cora did what he thought he needed to do.

If I were to tell you Martin Perez would have the lowest ERA of the starters on the Red Sox, how many of you would have believed the RS would have the second best record in the AL......

Dalbec hit .245/.375/.528 against righties last season; I'm not ready to turn him into a platoon player based on fewer than 100 PAs in 2021.
How bad were his splits in the minors?

I agree that they need to stick with Dalbec longer. He needs the opportunity to prove he can hit righties enough, but if he's still struggling and it's August and they're in the heat of a pennant race, then they have to come up with an alternate solution if he's not hitting righties still. If the Sox were struggling you could give him the entire year but at some point he needs to step up and produce. The Sox are getting minimal production out of 1b. Say Hernandez is still holding his own against righties and say Arroyo is still pinging enough singles to be an option to play often at 2b. And say Santana is producing. They could go with Santana at 1b in a platoon with Dalbec if they have to, with Arroyo at 2b, Kiké in CF, and Duran in LF, ceding some time against tough lefties to Renfroe. Ideally Dalbec turns it into a moot point and can be the every day 1b which would allow Kiké to play the bulk of 2b and allow for Santana to play the bulk of his time in CF, but we're nearing June and he's be well below average thus far. I'd be willing to give him another couple of months to improve. If not the Sox might need to look at other options. (and it's so damn tempting to see how Casas looks by then, but it's probably a year too soon for him.)

Honestly, how much must it suck to be a player, sitting through hours of delays to have to go play out the last few innings late at night? How much does everyone just want to gone home?

After a third of a season, there should be no surprise that Dalbec does not always start against RHPs and is PH for when a righty comes for a lefty in critical moments. Bobby can find himself by relaxing on the bench or in Worcester but playing him full time against RHPs now is not fair to him or the team.

Would be tragic if a ball got away from Ottavino in this slop and shattered fat boys wrist so he could never play again

I know it’s meaningless but it’s good to see Sox got both runners in. Hopefully they make it a habit.

But wishing a career ending injury on a player is just messed up. Messed up is stealing $90 million and admitting it was basically a money grab where he didn’t try, I hope he gets drilled in both wrists every at bat for the rest of his career. He does not deserve to be a professional athlete as far as I’m concerned. The WOAT athlete in Boston sports. The biggest theft in sports history and the only time I’d take ownerships side over a player Wasn’t he making money while we had to move Mookie for luxury tax purposes? I hope he sprouts a 3rd wrist out of his chest and also gets hit in that

It’s a strong word, but hearing his name aggravates me. And you guys have seen me- I don’t really despise people because of their performance on the field. If they suck im generally one of the last people off the ship. I do not like Pablo Sandoval as a human being. He is arrogant, entitled, and lazy. Therein lies the difference between him and the countless other awful players I’ve seen play for my teams. I will never say a good word about that guy and every time he steps in the box is a miscarriage of justice
