Would be tragic if a ball got away from Ottavino in this slop and shattered fat boys wrist so he could never play again Weren't you one of the guys criticizing people for crossing the line in their criticisms of Franchy? This is like 100 times worse. The only thing Franchy has done wrong is be bad at baseball. Sandoval goes beyond that

This is like 100 times worse. I was criticizing people for dunking on Franchy in games he didn’t play in that we won, yes. I fail to see the comparison and I do not feel bad one bit about wishing Pablo Sandoval to never have the ability to play the game of baseball ever again. You guys can get on your Internet high horse all you want, it doesn’t change my opinion that he’s a disgrace and I wish him nothing but the worst. If he just sucked it would be one thing, but it wasn’t just that. I don’t hate Hanley. I don’t hate Carl Crawford (well now I really don’t like him but that’s mostly for the DV and not for his Sox tenure). I will never hate somebody for performance on a baseball field. Pablo acted like he was victimized here after his Boston tenure when he openly did not try while making $95 million.

We get it, you don’t like him. But wishing a career ending injury on a player is just messed up. Messed up is stealing $90 million and admitting it was basically a money grab where he didn’t try, I hope he gets drilled in both wrists every at bat for the rest of his career. He does not deserve to be a professional athlete as far as I’m concerned. The WOAT athlete in Boston sports. The biggest theft in sports history and the only time I’d take ownerships side over a player Wasn’t he making money while we had to move Mookie for luxury tax purposes? I hope he sprouts a 3rd wrist out of his chest and also gets hit in that 1) They didn't trade Betts for CBT purposes. 2) Sandoval was off payroll at that point.

Pablo acted like he was victimized here after his Boston tenure when he openly did not try while making $95 million. Why would you "hate" somebody for being lackadaisical in his training regimen? The guy obviously had a food addiction. The Giants had to do everything in their power to keep him from over-eating. Had Cherington done his due diligence, perhaps he wouldn't have felt the need to sign him. He looked at Sandoval's age and figured that it made sense to sign him, but he didn't weigh (no pun intended) Sandoval's major issue. There has been a long-standing tradition of long ear splitting standing ovations for ballplayers having played for the Red Sox returning to Boston in a different uniform. It's quite obvious Sandoval doesn't deserve that honor. He was a lazy mercenary who couldn't control a major personal issue that impacted his performance. He didn't have some drug addiction that killed his career. He wasn't some violent thug who destroyed lives. He simply couldn't control his eating, and the Sox were foolish enough to take a chance on him with a huge contract offer (one the Giants and Padres were also offering him). So no, hatred of Sandoval is undeserved. He was simply a bust, just like a lot of busts who have come to the Sox. I'm sure Crawford would have been higher up on your S-list if the Sox hadn't been able to get rid of him and his contract so quickly. And there have been so many other busts. I remember Bob Stanley getting booed for re-signing for big bucks or Matt Young being atrocious. We remember Offerman (one good year), Jack Clark (one good year), Julio Lugo (one good half year), Hanley (1 good year) and many others who have disappointed. I don't think Sandoval is any better or worse. His issues were self-inflicted, sure, but I don't think he deserves any more scorn that anybody else who was a big disappointment.

Agree to disagree on the hatred not being deserved. He’s shown the ability to maintain his weight when he’s playing for a contract or playing for his spot in the league, he just didn’t care and try here. It is what it is. No Cherington shouldn’t have signed him and they should have put weight clauses in there if they did, but you also can’t expect a guy to put absolutely zero effort into anything after getting paid $95 million. Like most people have some sense of pride and aren’t completely shameless.
He said having a kid made him reevaluate things so his kid could see him play in the league. Good for him. Wish he knocked somebody up in 2014. It just shows he didn’t put in any effort. He was fully capable of staying in check the entire time, he just didn’t want to.

At least he left us with a killer system we flipped into a WS I genuinely hate Pablo Sandoval. It’s a strong word, but hearing his name aggravates me. And you guys have seen me- I don’t really despise people because of their performance on the field. If they suck im generally one of the last people off the ship. I do not like Pablo Sandoval as a human being. He is arrogant, entitled, and lazy. Therein lies the difference between him and the countless other awful players I’ve seen play for my teams. I will never say a good word about that guy and every time he steps in the box is a miscarriage of justice this is basically how I feel about Manny Machado for ending Pedroia’s career. I not only wish him a dismal career, I hope he invested all his money with the modern day we incarnation of Bernie Madoff.

Ok, ok. We could go back decades and pick out targets. I'm still upset Conigliaro got hit in the face. Let's stick to the thread head, please.

Probably an arm? My guess is Brandon Brennan since he’s on the 40

Brasier is reportedly a week away from a rehab assignment. I can't see them adding someone to the 40 like Workman or Ort unless they think that arm is ready to step into a high-leverage role because they'd have another 40-man move coming in a couple weeks for Brasier. That's why I think it's almost certainly going to be Brennan or Brewer, keeping Brasier's spot warm. I'd bet the former, who's been decent in Worcester.
Can't be Chavis because it hasn't been 10 days and Araúz doesn't make sense.

Not only were the Sox carrying 13 arms and four utility players but also because there is not a replacement for Franchy on the Worcester roster, it is just logical to think it is a pitcher. If they think Brasier is really just two weeks away, yes, probably Brennan as opposed to Ort who would be my first choice in a perfect world. I would also consider Workman. No matter what he did with the Phils, it is hard to see how he has lost everything the minute he was traded.

Agreed, to promote Workman would mean someone else being DFAed, but I would prefer Brennan (Brewer was never good in the MLB let alone AAA). IMO Brewer should be DFAed when Brasier needs a spot! Brewer gives up too many HRs and his WHIP is high which is a bad combination.

If it’s the Brasier that rediscovered himself towards the second half of least season then that would be a major addition
Surprised the Mariners couldn’t find a trade partner for Brennan, not that he would return much but he seems like a useful depth arm

Seth Blair. He'd likely clear waivers when it's time to send him back.
Interesting fellow, this could be his MLB debut. Iirc, after washing out of the minors, he rediscovered himself while starting a pitching school. Can be nasty but has control issues.

this should be interesting, especially with Durran out playing reindeer games with team USA. Maybe Workman? Workman had a great curve but it was when he had a jump in velo to 94 or so that he was effective. The reports I've seen were that the FB was back down to around 90. That didn't work for him previously.

You may have missed it but he went down to Portland (in part to help cover for De Jesus leaving for the Olympic qualifier).

I think they sent him in the other direction and he’s now in Portland
