They must have brought a duffel bag full of cash (since it wouldn't fit in a briefcase) to Fenway tonight.
Does this mean that Fabian is getting more? Or is one of the unsignables in play?

So maybe Fabian getting a big chunk of the excess funds?

Wow I'm surprised he took slot value I figured he'd be slightly over slot. Wonder if he just told the pirates I need slot to sign and went with Davis to save money or if he could have been had for the 6.6 the sox gave him. I would suspect the former.

So? Any chance now that someone like Green or Guerrero are in play now? I'm getting greedy over here lol

So if they're saving 500k vs EIC's projections on Mayer, then that money goes to either Jud Fabian, Payton Green or John Henry. Anyone else a possibility?

So maybe Fabian getting a big chunk of the excess funds? Pre-draft, I read that Fabian was looking for a signing in the $4M range, so I’d assume it will take all of the excess funds left over.

My guess is that's more money for Fabian and Hickey.

My guess is that's more money for Fabian and Hickey. I guess they really believe in Fabian's hit tool being better than some think and Hickey's ability to stay at catcher more than others?

Say they have an extra million would you rather they sign Fabian for $2.8M or sign one of Green/Hood if they could and roll over pick 40 into 2022?

Fabian. For me at least.
I also don't think $1.068M would be enough to sign Green, for whatever that's worth.

How much leverage do Fabian and Hickey really have? Hickey is already 21 as a sophomore, Fabian is a junior. I guess it just depends how you rank them, if you see them closer the higher rankings than the lower ones. If you rank Fabian closer to 23 than 37 and Hickey closer to 78 than 141.
Don't mind me I just want the unrealistic goal of signing the top 11 and Green.

Lawlar is apparently asking for 7M. Man we had some serious luck.

I really wouldn't see why not. Don't see much downside to getting his feet wet and around pro ball to learn some ropes.

I would be a bit surprised if he debuts in Low A this season but I would not be displeased...

After watching and reading interviews of Mayer and reading reports about his personality and character, I am betting that he easily and eagerly accepted slot to allow the team to have more flexibility about signing his future teammates. That seems to be the kind of unselfish leader that he is.

Time to start scouting Payton Green. He'll sign before Jud

Let's not start the hall of fame speech already.

That seems to be the kind of unselfish leader that he is. Seems unlikely. The Sox knew when they drafted him what he'd expect. I believe he decided slot was fair and let the chips fall however they fell.
