I don’t think you’ll see him against tough righties again this season I find it just a little confounding, given that he's actually hit righties better than lefties since the beginning of May (.294 vs. .277 wOBA), and not due to some big BABIP split either. Of course he's been bad against both overall. But I'm still way more interested in seeing if he can start another hot streak than having Danny Santana (himself rocking a .242 wOBA against righties) get the starts.
They probably need to upgrade 1B, but until then, with no better options, why not just give Dalbec the shot?
They might honestly just like Santana’s defense better at 1B, Dalbec has been that bad over there

I think Thomas Hatch signed the Declaration of Independence?

I think MLB, but a lot of teams didn’t start discussing trades until yesterday, which was the unofficial start of deadline talks. I think that may have been Hatfield’s point when I expressed frustration earlier in this thread that the Red Sox didn’t appear to be in a hurry to get someone and they had acquired people much earlier than deadline day in the past. In the past, the draft was way earlier, so that probably moved back deadline talks.

I think Thomas Hatch signed the Declaration of Independence? Nah, he was the guy that won the first season of Survivor.

Game postponed, that is probably a good thing with Richards set to start and our need for a 1B.
True, we miss a AAA guy on their end this way but I think our team will be in a stronger position in August and our starters are better than theirs so the shortened games would favor us.

I wonder if tmrw is Houck or Richards?? Should be Richards and then Houck against the MFYs, no? Given that they MFYs are all righties?

They just had the AS break, a screwed up series with NY. I feel like the guys probably want to play ball now. Hope you are right, but there could also be other makeups in the future. Don't really want to see a lot of late season doubleheaders.

6 days into this "18 games in 18 days" stretch and they've played 3 2/3 games. Richards tomorrow and they're skipping Houck, according to one of the beat writers.

Richards tomorrow and they're skipping Houck, according to one of the beat writers. Ugh! I bought tickets to Wednesday's game instead of tonight's specifically to avoid watching Richards (the shy protagonist kid from the movie Meatballs). The baseball gods, all of whom have dark senses of humor, strike again!

Toronto is just as right-handed, which is why getting him up in time for this stretch that included two series each against the NYY and TOR made a ton of sense. Agree with others - this just means that Houck either piggybacks or is available late. He probably gets a start on the back-end of this stretch if they don't have any more rainouts, but if they do, then he's there in the bullpen if needed again.
