So they waived the "no 40 man guys" rule?
Good call on the pod!

"Red Sox prospects heading to the Arizona Fall League: 1B Triston Casas, 2B/SS Jeter Downs, Cs Connor Wong and Kole Cottam, Ps Josh Winckowski, Connor Seabold, Andrew Politi, Brendan Cellucci

Feltman may absent for other reasons, but I would not want to send a plausible Rule 5 draftee that I'm not planning to protect to the AFL.

5 Top 20 prospects including the system's #1 prospect. Where would this rank in terms of the prospect quality going to the AFL in recent years?

If a R5 guy plays well, you know to protect him or perhaps even generate trade interest. If a R5 guy plays poorly, you might not need protect him where you may have had to prior. It's half audition, half evaluation. I get where you're coming from if they're certain on a given guy, but there's something to sending a borderline guy.

From my armchair, Politi and Cottam are not plausible Rule 5 draftees.

First Arizona Fall League games are today - Scottsdale plays at 8:35pm ET. Per MLB.com, Seabold starting. It also said 9:35 ET (AZ doesn't do daylight savings)

I don't think it was previously announced, but Christian Koss is also on the Scottsdale roster.

All day they listed Scottsdale as a statcast park... but they just changed it, so that sucks.

Seabold's night
F8, Kl, BB, BB, 5-3 1B CF, (PB), 3-1, 5-3, Ks Ks, BB, 1B LF, HR RF, HBP then pulled for old friend Gregory Santos
Not the best outing but not awful. Fell apart a bit at the end but I'm not going to begrudge him a Nolan Gorman HR.

Off Bobby Miller, Dodgers #4 prospect. Looks like it went to CF or right-center. Plenty of good seats still available...

Cellucci's fastball averaged 93.4 mph with a max of 94.7 on statcast today. Averaged 2375 spin.
His slider was 83.3, 2497.
He got 5 whiffs on 11 swings but his pitch chart looked like something out of the Darwinzon collection.
0.2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K, 2 ER. Hit was a 90 mph exit velocity fly ball double down the line.
Casas had a couple of Ks and a walk, plus a groundout and lineout to center.

Anybody else see similarities to Freddie Freeman for Casas?
