Idk why he’d think it’s intentional, did he do something stupid to “deserve” it? Winckowski does have pretty good command tho…. In 11 innings, 15 hits, 9 runs and 4 walks in the AFL, where I think he is relieving regularly for the first time, and probably throwing 98-99 for the first time. Not great command this Fall? Not defending hitting anyone, but why would he want to hit him?

Did you notice that the home plate umpire watching with his hands on his hips instead of intervening?

Casas with his first 2 errors (fielding) to go along with his 2/4 night. That caused 1 unearned run in an 11-10 loss.

Casas was named to the East Division All Star Team for the AFL. Jeter Downs is in the "final vote" - assume that's some sort of fan vote for the last spot.

Casas’ ability to drive the ball to the opposite field is going to fit in well at his future home ballpark.

Red Sox (East) Armed with the game’s best power tool, Boston's No. 2 prospect Triston Casas lined a ground-rule double to right field and scored as part of a 1-for-3 day at the dish. Casas leads Scottsdale with a .356 average and ranks fourth in the Fall League among qualified players. Kole Cottam caught the final two innings and reached on a fielder’s choice after grounding to third base. www.mlb.com/news/arizona-fall-league-fall-stars-game-2021?t=arizona-fall-league-coverage

Next on tap, the playoffs

Next on tap, the playoffs I think it's just a single championship game next Saturday. Scottsdale is 3.5 back and for some weird reason they have Monday and Thursday off, so they just have Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday left and can't make the championship.

Cottam went 1/5 in that game and Cellucci pitched a clean inning ( 9 pitches 8 strikes).

It's pretty wild that he's leading in OBP but only 7th in OPS despite being a power hitter, or at least having that profile

Final game of the AFL for Scottsdale. Jeter Downs was the only Red Sox prospect that played. He went 2-4.

Just for future reference ALL our prospects need the following: "Command and control need refinement, as does consistency". I just read threw our prospect scouting reports and had a little chuckle after awhile. It is quite true, but all baseball players can get better in those areas. On a serious note. I really do appreciate the insights this site brings on the Red Sox. I wonder if other teams go here. (seriously) I know I would.
I sure do hope Downs keeps improving after making his adjust during the year.

This interesting tidbit from Eric Longenhagen's chat today:
Guest 12:20 Hey Eric! Did Downs do enough in his AFL stint to help turn the opinion on him? Eric A Longenhagen 12:21 I'd caution against using AFL stats to judge anything, his swing is his swing and I'm not sure it'll actually play. He's a guy who I'll source very specific TrackMan data for this offseason. How does this guy do against fastballs 93+?
It'll be interesting to see how EL's ranking of Downs changes from the currently posted one (from January).
