I took the rainout to get myself and my wife vaccinated. We've had vaccines available at no cost for a while now but decided to wait until there was enough of a data base to know that the selected vaccine is at least safe to take short term. I don't know what products are available there but I chose Astrazeneca for several reasons. 1. India has pretty much taken over the Asian pharma industry because of botched Western Politics in the region so they are extremely experienced. 2. India's population makes for a huge sample size and 3. There haven't been any Bill Gates statues erected in the area.
The area I live in continues to be blessed by well below average Covid cases. It's pretty much closed off from outsiders, the resorts have all been closed except to locals and we wear masks and need shields and our temperature taken to enter a store. It's working here, it should work everywhere.

When I look at the fans in the stands, there are almost no masks. That wouldn't happen here and not because of any government edicts. There's just a different psychology here. I suppose it's more a case of peer pressure, people don't want to piss off their friends and neighbors or be looked down upon.

7 inning double headers are dumb but with Houck in game 2 that helps us. Also 4 less innings of workload. People don’t like the 7 inning games? I love them but we keep coming back in the 8th hahahaha.

THEEEEEEEEE YANKEES WIN.....and now the Sox are up 2 games up on Tampa. Was watching this game and was still rooting for Tampa. I know the Rays are closer to the Sox(and much more of a threat)but I just want to see the Yankees hit .500 as we get into August.

Yeah, try as I might I just couldn't shake the muscle memory of rooting against the Yankees - especially when Chapman was on the mound. I really wanted him to blow it.
And fangraphs still gives them a 40% chance of making the playoffs, which would be annoying. I want them to lose at least one game in Tampa; we can take care of the Rays ourselves.

PPD double header tomorrow Who's coming up as the extra player for the DH? Ordinarily you'd like a pitcher, but I think there are no viable candidates on the 40. Arauz? Wilson, finally, before the big trade? Wong?

Well anyone can catch the virus and the Delta variant is not only more transmissible but appears to cause more sickness in younger people than prior versions. Our HOA had a guy late 40s die of Covid. I am in Florida and we lead all states in new infections. So too, we lag most states in vax so there is likely a connection. I do notice more masks in grocery stores lately tho. Good sign. With regard to Bogaerts, has there been anything definitive about the nature of his injury, how it was caused or any treatment undergone?...or is this "run silent"?

I know the Rays are closer to the Sox(and much more of a threat)but I just want to see the Yankees hit .500 as we get into August. Yeah, it's weird. I'm sitting there like, "C'mon, you pinstriped bastards. Help us out. Try not to blow this game." I want no part of them as the second wild card, particularly if the Sox are the first wild card. It would be cruel to kick the Yankees' butts all season and then lose a one game tossup to them, because baseball is crazy that way (of course, eliminating them yet again would be fun). Still, I'd like them to be sitting at home in October having not made the playoffs. Let them finish 80-82 and draft in the middle of the pack. But we need Tampa to lose as much as possible, so if the Yankees help that.... The Rays are a legit threat, and I don't want the Sox in a one game playoff at Fenway. My love of the Sox exceeds my hatred of the Yankees...but just barely

I wish they’d just IL him. Make damn well sure that wrist is okay heading into September and October.

Wong is the 27th man.
It's probably him and not Araúz because Worcester is pretty shorthanded. Jeremy Rivera is playing outfield every day because Matheny and Wilson appear to be the only healthy OF'ers (Gettys missed a bunch of games before being forced back into the lineup at DH when Wilson got hurt and then Franchy went up). It's probably a little easier for them to lose one of their 3 catchers than one of their healthy position players for a roster spot that probably won't even be used.
That said, you'd think Worcester could've made due with Munoz, Downs, CDLG, and Williams at 4-5-6 today... They're pretty thin in Boston as well in the infield.

Cora needs to give Duran every chance possible, I mean he stuck it out with everyone else. This kid has only been up here for a week in a half I think.

Wouldn't they put a left-hander at SS in Worcester if it helped the parent club's chances to win? Wong makes sense if you want both Vasquez and the hot-ish Plawecki both in the lineup against a LHH.

Remy was talking pregame about getting pieces for this team and them getting Sale for the run. I was thinking every championship we got there was always a pitcher that stood up. Kind of had a signature series, so in 2004 Pedro and Schilling. 2007 Beckett, 2013 Lester, 2018 Price and Evoladi . So this lines up for a possible Sale postseason.

Feels like we’re seeing the red jerseys more often than the traditional white.
