Christopher Smith @smittyonmlb · 7m tarp being placed on the field at Fenway Park. Gotta love a good rain delay. Hope it doesn't rain at all.

Based on the radar, this game is not starting anytime before 9:00 p.m., if then.

If the sticky stuff was helping Richards to be a passable ML pitcher, then high humidity wouldn't be bad conditions to play this in!

7 inning double headers are dumb but with Houck in game 2 that helps us. Also 4 less innings of workload.

It was only in there due to virus concerns and fears of not being able to get all the games in. Now that that isn’t an issue, the 7 inning DH is a joke.

You are almost right, but with the Delta surge in many places exceeding past surges, and rising in every single state, it ain’t over til it’s over. Perhaps some will listen to Governor Ivy and finally kill this thing. I hope Canada baseball doesn’t get cancelled again.

It's an SSSSIS (Sample Size So Small it's Silly), but it's way better than the opposite.
Franchy's .375 / .500 / .375 line in his three starts and whopping 10 PA translates to a .403 wOBA, the 3rd best figure on the team after Renfroe and Vazquez. But CV was last in average exit velocity and 5th in xwOBA.
Franchy's expected line was .288 / .430 / .484, which is a .403 xwOBA, and that is the second best figure to Renfroe.
The team as a whole had a .306 xwOBA and .291 wOBA.

The last week before demotion, the AAA numbers and this SSS is enough to say we should be looking for a right handed hitting first baseman not a lefty. Bobby needs to start looking for his Jenny fast.

Has any team had more rainouts than the Red Sox this year? It sucks.

Meanwhile, every team has played close to 100 games? I think we are OK.

Franchy has a .348/.400/.609 line since May 15th.
He's been raking for over two months now!

This is most ikely thanks to serious precautions since ST, followed by rapid decline of infections, hospitalizations and deaths as the season progressed towards July 4. This happened because of the outstanding vaccination effort by most Americans. My point is this Delta surge is moving like our deadly Calif firestorms and could shut down Baseball in Canada even as we prepare to go there. I hope we remain ok.

This happened because of the outstanding vaccination effort by most Americans. My point is this Delta surge is moving like our deadly Calif firestorms and could shut down Baseball in Canada even as we prepare to go there. I hope we remain ok. I was at the doctor today for knee problems and had a long conversation with the doctor. He said a majority of the Delta surge patients had been vaccinated for the original virus! The original vaccine does NOT protect against the Delta virus. Many of the people vaccinated have a false sense of security and stopped the mask wearing and social distancing and that is why it has spread so fast. Many people like cancer patients can not be vaccinated as the oncology drugs reduce white cell blood levels in increase change for viral infections! Thus the best protection is still masks and avoiding contact. For MLB....keep playing games and continue the protocol as it has worked so far. For fans.....if you are in a high risk group like elderly, do not go to games and large group activities if you feel unsafe!
