Some of the Ground Rules are applied loosely in here, as we understand that there is a tendency to want to react (or overreact) to every play of a Sox game with one line reactionary posts. Those posts are okay in the Red Sox Series threads to a point - we certainly appreciate the passion. Just try not to overdo it, and try to maintain some semblance of reason. Now, a thread like this brings a smile to my face. Sweep or bust!! Yankees lineup; Gardner, Ichiro, Cano, Youkilis, Wells, Hafner, Nunez, Overbay and Stewart. If Robinson Cano sees a strike this series, our pitchers should be ashamed.

A series thread is a better sign of spring than a robin. Go sox.

I see robins in my yard, a games series on my computer, and JBJ on the roster too. Not a bad day.

Looking forward to participating in these. Can't believe we're less than 23 hours out! 1. CF: Brett Gardner 2. RF: Ichiro Suzuki 3. 2B: Robinson Cano 4. 1B: Kevin Youkilis 5. DH: Ben Francisco (Over the lefty Hafner?) 6. LF: Vernon Wells 7. SS: Eduardo Nunez 8. 3B: Jayson Nix 9. C: Chris Stewart SP: CC Sabathia (LHP) 1. CF: Jacoby Ellsbury 2. RF: Shane Victorino 3. 2B: Dustin Pedroia 4. 1B: Mike Napoli 5. 3B: Will Middlebrooks 6. DH: Johnny Gomes 7. LF: Jackie Bradley Jr. 8. C: TBD 9. SS: Jose Iglesias SP: Jon Lester (LHP) Those are the predicted opening day lineups. Two great LHP's, and the Sox and Yankees likely will have matching positions for the first 4 spots in their lineup. Farrell said today he hasn't decided on a catcher for tomorrow. Yanks will be playing Nix at 3B with Youk at 1B against lefties. Here is a press release from the Sox, listing their finalized opening day roster: mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130331&content_id=43575506&vkey=pr_bos&c_id=bos

The tuesday offday: proof, as if we needed any more of it, that Selig really is history's greatest monster.

Figures that the season opens at 1 PM now that I'm on the West Coast for the summer. No work tomorrow though, so should be able to lie on the couch and watch on MLB tv. Pumped!

I know everyone already knows it, and I don't want to jynx opening day, but that Yankees lineup is just hilariously bad. I cannot remember a worse one...

I was thinking of calling for an opening day no-hitter. Haven't had one in a while. Bullet Bob Feller in 1940. In fact, the only one in MLB history. Gardner prob bunts for a hit to leadoff the game.

Wouldn't the Yankees be better off just scrapping the DH and letting Sabathia hit? Especially in Yankee Stadium.

I think I read today that Farrell said Ross wouldn't start until game 3. Can't find it right now

I think I read today that Farrell said Ross wouldn't start until game 3. Can't find it right now I remember him confirming a few days ago that Ross would start game 3. I think most people interpreted that comment as meaning Salty would start the first two games, hence Farrell's comment today about being undecided for the opener came as a surprise.

Probably some gamesmanship going on. I'm putting money on Salty.

Play Ball!
I really hope we see a new attitude from Lester on the mound, would love for them all to stop pouting so much over missed calls.

With Cervelli and Nix starting today, there's a chance Iglesias isn't the worst hitter on the field.

Selfish decision by Bradley there to get behind in the count 0-2.
