It’s been an entire season of this defense coming up small on make-or-break third downs.
Good progress this year overall, but this team will not win a playoff game. Hopefully I’m wrong.

What was Judon doing here going for the sack instead of contain? The second he blew past Tua that was game over.

How has Mac gotten worse as the season has worn on? The mistakes he has made the last four weeks are boneheaded. Defenses get more tape on him and he's grinding through the season so he can't adjust. Honestly, the past few weeks got me impressed with him the most. Yeah he's made some mistakes, but dude was an absolute gamer and almost had a few insane comebacks. The only game he looked completely overmatched was against Buffalo and that's easy to understand considering Josh Allen was going full on supernova and he pressed on to keep up.

He said he was pretty surprised Bill has just letting Judon break contain and run uphill after the quarterback. Van Noy replied “no comment” and laughed

He still made rookie mistakes in every one of these games that he wasn’t really making early in the year. When I made this comment, he was 6/12 with a pick six and had just false started on 4th and short. We can argue whether it was Belichick’s intention to actually hike the ball on the play, but Mac definitely should have taken a delay of game before a false start.

I think I have mentioned a few times how QBs that can run make it really hard on a defense to get a stop when needed. Of course they need to be able to throw from the pocket but the added dimension is a killer especially on third down. And now it seems like teams have figured out how to clear a zone just to give that QB an opening for a big gain. Maybe an answer would be to rush 5 with contain being a top priority along with pressure. They need to come up with something that helps or Allen is just going to do it again next Saturday.

Pretty bloody Black Monday. Bears and Vikings purge everyone, Miami chooses Chris Grier/Tua over Flores, Fangio doesn't make it to Monday and we all know Gruden and Urban are gone.
Still with warm seats: The Seattle crew, Joe Judge I'd hope. (EDIT: Culley in Houston also)
Great point from Bill Simmons here:
I'd be glad to have Flores as the heir to BB but doubt he has to wait that long (which, good for him).

Bill needs to do a better job of getting his teams ready for the Heat. Like finding a place to practice the whole week in Florida or some other really warm place. Nink talked about how you couldn't even breathe after practicing in the cold for months in Massachusetts. It's why he picked the Patriots to lose.

I don't understand the Dolphins, Flores did a brilliant job rebuilding that team. If Tua doesn't get injured they likely make the playoffs.

Glad Flores is out of the division. I thought he was very good. Somebody will grab him. I think Judge is as good as gone.
Supposed to be 12F in Buffalo. Going to be tough on receivers catching that hard ball. Just thinking of all those Buffalo fans sitting there freezing without being able to move around. I'll be on my couch by a roaring fireplace.
As Red used to say, "make the crowd go home crying."

Getting that team to 9-8 with Tua as quarterback is impressive, I just don't think he's that good of a QB.
This probably works out better for Flores, he would have been stuck in mediocrity with Tua unless they could have gotten the Watson trade done this offesason. So instead of getting fired next year and taking blame for it, there's going to be enough teams that think "Miami is nuts, he's a good coach" so I expect he'll be a head coach in the 2022 season.

I think Miami will take a step backwards next season and I am glad the Pats won't have to face a Flores coached D anymore, at least not in the division.
And hopefully this continues to be another example of a bad owner that keeps Miami from becoming a good team. All Flores did is lead them to back to back winning seasons for the first time in almost 20 yrs, hopefully it is another 20.

How many Pats fans are checking the weather in Buffalo first instead of their own?
One thing about Brady. He loved bad weather. Gave him an advantage.

Every day Last I saw the high for the day was going to be 15, possibly down to 7 upon nightfall. Gonna be hard of catch the ball, gonna be hard to tackle power backs

A little ways back in this thread you guys were pointing out who has been the best surprises and some disappointments, I don't think anyone brought up Brandon Bolden. Sure there are guys who have done more but for a player who has been around a while and all of a sudden had a much bigger role he has really come thru. I think I remember some negative comments here about how the Pats were in trouble if he was going to be the answer to White going down. Well he has really been much better than any of us could imagine. I just looked at his stats and one really stood out, 41 receptions on only 49 targets, even for backs out of the backfield that is crazy efficiency. And I am sure you guys have all seen some of the over the shoulder catches further down field that are not typical RB throws that they have pulled off.
On another note, do you guys remember years ago when running a sweep he pulled his hammy and just dropped the ball? I had never seen a back just let go of the ball like that and maybe that is one reason why he hasn't been used like this til now. If that is the case it took him years to get out of BBs doghouse for that one.

Latest from Buffalo. No wind, No snow, but 3F at 8PM. Good luck with that. Everything is brittle in those conditions, it's actually too cold to snow at that temp. I wonder if Mac tries to become accustomed to wearing gloves this week as hands get painfully cold pretty quick in that weather. Can the Pats go up there and run it 90% of the time again and pull off another win? Gonna be a tough game for the players and if they can keep the Bills D out on the field they will wear down. Thinking about it I really like the combination of Stevens and Harris running hard and that is what they both do, run hard. Tackling is going to be painful and all of the Bills RBs are small, I think the advantage goes to the Pats they just need to contain Allen. Another advantage for the Pats is that the passing game will be mostly short stuff, going deep will be harder so that makes the Bills less dangerous IMO. This game is going to be similar to the last one in Buffalo and that is good news for the Pats.

Jameson Williams with our 2nd round pick now *eyeball emoji* Drafting injured players is a BB specialty, it netted him Gronk in the 2nd rd.
