If we do, watch CVaz on the sliders like I posted with an article in the Houck thread a few hours ago. Really, a must read. Nice article, kind of reminds me of Scott Kazmir talking about his slider. He threw his off his index finger instead of his middle finger which gave him additional control around the shape of his slider. Really liked Houck’s makeup in the minors experimenting with both 4-seamers and 2-seamers, it should set him up well to continue to make adjustments in the majors. I think it's more than that. It could revolutionize how slider pitchers pitch. Imagine having command of the shape from east-west to north-south. That's unhittable without a guess. It's also uncatchable without a guess which is what initially caught my eye. The catcher knows the break that's coming which is why I said watch CVaz. The way he breaks is the way the slider will break. ADD: It's also unanalyzable with standard break metrics. |

Here we are, fighting for the best wild card spot, big game - and it was Brasier/Big Fudge Davis/ Robles pitching meaningful innings (and pitching them well). What a weird and wonderful game baseball is.

Wonder if we see Houck tonight? I think Houck probably needs an extra day with his extended outing, maybe Ottavino and Richards? Idk if we’re ready for a Barnes heart attack lol Houck threw 42 pitches on Saturday, feels like he's rested for tonight if we need him. I think we'll see Barnes tonight, in the 8th. |
