Ha Ha..Stanton hits it and it is far and it is long and it is out of the ballpark..what did I get wrong he is on first base....Priceless!!! Wait a second...I saw that on twitter and assumed someone cut that together from two different calls to make fun of the "YES replay call" earlier this year...did YES actually broadcast that?!?!?

In terms of the "is this season a success" conversation earlier, even regardless of this game, we were the only team in the top 13 picks of this years draft to make the playoffs. And we only gave up 1 top 30 prospect at the trade deadline.

Its the new Castellanos call for me An underrated Sterling fail was his call on the Rizzo homer: "Rizzo drills one to deep right field but I think it's gonna go... fair! For a home run!"
Having endured his game-calling for years, I can tell you: that man is almost implausibly bad at calling game action while it is happening. Like, you'd have to try to be as discombobulated as he always is in the midst of the action. On any given play you simply have to wait until it's over and then he is eventually able to untangle the situation that just unfolded - by which point the drama of the moment has been completely squandered. Quite amazing that he and Suzyn Waldman are the best the Yankees organization can do.

Saying a team has no chance to win is a take I would never offer up, because it’s a dumb take. If you don’t want to get called out for dumb, reactionary posts, you shouldn’t share them. The problem with all the chicken little posts is, if the Sox lose, they can say I told you so, but if the Sox win everyone is so happy that they forget about it. I’m not letting them off the hook so easily. Because the Sox almost coughed up a massive lead in the playoff race and could have very easily missed October if not for a few lucky breaks? They finished 1 above the Mariners and Toronto and tied with NY who beat you 6 straight. The Yankees picked to play you in the event of a 4-way tie. I'm elated that they won, but it was a one-game playoff. Baltimore could beat the Dodgers in a 1-game series. I would never say, "no chance" in this scenario. Best of 5? Now we're going to see a real test rather than a game of who was better for just 1 night. I'm certainly hopeful that the Red Sox continue to prove everyone wrong and make the doubters (such as myself) continue to look like ass, but I don't think this was a "gloating" moment. Schwarber was clutch, but Rizzo still did his part for the Yankees. Debbie Downer's last stand ?

So much for Brian Cashman having “pantsed” Chaim Bloom at the trade deadline.
The Blue Jays and Yankees paid a very heavy price at the deadline to qualify for (and then lose) one playoff game between them.

They said this was the fifth elimination game between them 1979 2003 2004 2021 what was the other ? Like that one, an important HR by a SS known by a single letter. X vs, F. 1979? 197 8 scarred me both mentally and physically; I have a small scar on the last knuckle of my right hand. Plus 1949 for our dads and grandfathers.

I didn't go back and read all the stuff in the board for the middle innings, so please forgive me if this is rehash. In 2018, Eovaldi gave EVERYTHING on the way to the WS ring, and was rewarded with a risky (for the club) 4/68 deal.
2019 looked like the Sox barked up the wrong tree.
10/5/21. The day the deal got paid in full. He's been solid all year, but looked 2018 playoffs nasty last night. Really exciting to watch. Hopefully there is a lot more of that to come over the next 13 months.

Just don't get the chest thumping until they win a series, but the season is a success in my book now. Win the WS or lose 3 straight to Tampa, I got what I wanted.

Consider a “treat others as you would like to be treated” attitude. Rubbing a wrong take in someone else’s face just encourages them to rub it in your face the next time around. Here’s the thing—if you spend any real amount of time on these forums, it becomes fairly obvious who the bad posters with bad takes are. It isn’t exactly rocket science. As we’ve already seen in this thread, mocking them and rubbing it in their face (especially in a bad natured way) isn’t going to change their mind. It’s like making fun of the kid who comes in last in the race—even if well deserved because that kid was being an annoying braggart, it’s still a little distasteful.

What? No "Sox are gutless" comments? They did play gutless ball for 2 months but came up when it mattered. Both can be true. There were times that this team in the last two weeks looked like they wanted to just end the season and go home. The question now becomes can the Sox carry this momentum over to the next series. The Rays won the division not only because they were a good team but also because the Sox legitimately choked away a massive division lead. That being said everyones record is more or less 0-0 now and anything can happen.

Sure but to put everything in context if the Jays had even gotten off to a slightly better start we're talking about them still playing today. That team took the first few months of the season off. They're going to be a serious problem next year.

That being said everyones record is more or less 0-0 now and anything can happen. Well, I don't think the team was gutless. I think that they looked tired, physically and emotionally. There were so many games in the first half where they came back improbably. In my mind, the tank was drained. Somehow the last few games they got a second wind. Hopefully Xander is on the upswing again as he is so important. JD had a hiatus too and it looked like he might have been cooked but he looks better again. Truly Robles and Schwarber have injected life. Having Whitlock back had to provide a psychological boost too. We are past Covid. All of us are so invested that we are up and down emotionally in concert with team performance and that's reflected in comments both positive and negative. I can feel down and frustrated as much as the next person. Having played sports as most here have each experiencing successes and failures, I just find it harsh to call a team gutless when performance doesn't match expectation. I don't think that's quite fair. My initial comment could have sounded like an opportunistic poke at naysayers...which we all are at one time or another.

They're going to be a serious problem next year. Sure. Just like the Yankees were this year. They weren’t? Yankees were dead until they made those moves and tied the Sox. Lets enjoy this win but also not act like the Yankees didn't improve their team at the deadline. Rizzo did homer during the game. So again lets not act like they didn't do well there. Jays and Yankees are apples and oranges. Jays had the highest run differential in the league. No one wanted any part of that. Vlad has a 50% chance of winning the MVP since its either his or Ohtanis award to lose. That team is much improved. The price to get Berrios was steeeeep. But they probably make the playoffs next year and might win the division.

How did those Yankee moves and Blue Jay moves help them win this year in the playoffs while the Sox were supposedly in rebuild mode? The Yanks were supposed to win 95/96 games. Let's stop trying so hard to give Yanks and Jays so much credit for not going as far as the Sox yet think it okay to slam a rebuilding team like the sox late in the season. The Jays highest run differential got them how far in the playoffs lats year? And I'm sure Yanks fans could have spoken about great things about their team last year leading up to this season. We've just gotten a super win and a super season and we want to talk about the Yankees late run and what he Blue Jays will be next year?

The Blue Jays and Yankees paid a very heavy price at the deadline to qualify for (and then lose) one playoff game between them. They still have Berrios and Gallo respectively next year, so those might still work out..just imagine the Jays offense with some decent pitching ...AL East may be the toughest division next year. But yeah they invested heavily and have nothing to show for it, for now...the exact opposite of Mr Bloom
