Didn’t the Celtics dominate at the start? After some sloppy play they dominated. I do agree that playing Horford and Williams together is silly but not because they don’t work together, they did. It’s because you are left too small otherwise, but let’s all relax. It was the first game with the full team. They played 4 preseason games and they were missing guys for half of it. No they didn't dominate, not even close. They built up a five point lead because the Raptors couldn't hit the side of a barn to start the game. After that it was downhill. Yet at no single point were we dominating that team. It should have been a 30-15 type quarter, yet you can't move the ball well or space well playing two centers. That athletic team ate it up the complete game.

Sounds like a second half beat down. Let’s try not to overreact to 2 games with a new coach and new pieces to figure out.

Let’s try not to overreact to 2 games with a new coach and new pieces to figure out. I was pretty slow to overreact in past seasons. That Raptors game was probably the worst performance I’ve seen from this team from an effort level in a long time. With a new coach, I’d expect more. That’s what scares me.

What scares me is Jaylen Brown missing the 3rd game with a sore patella.

Tatum getting benched in the 4th for being a big whiner.

I like Smart in the post. He can legitimately bully smaller guards and is a good passer from there.
I might be the last guy in Boston who still believes in Grant Williams. He shouldn't be getting a lot of time during the playoffs but is a good rotation player over a long season who does a lot of little things well.
Tatum continues to complain to the refs instead of getting back on defense (it's happened a few times tonight). That's a tough dynamic for a rookie coach to navigate.

Im still with you on Grant although, the way Steven’s used him last year had me teetering

I think Grant Williams is actually a lot better than people think and will be a legitimate playoff rotation piece this year.

Absolutely Grant Williams has looked good, he'll be a darn good player if he can maintain his 70% FG percentage and 69% from deep. All joking aside, that's what he needs, to become a great shooter.

Grant Williams has been jerked around on role a little bit, which hasn't helped his development. Hope he stays settled in with this role.

Grant Williams has been jerked around on role a little bit, which hasn't helped his development. Hope he stays settled in with this role. See i look at it as he’s been given a lot of opportunities and his different roles have forced him to develop different parts of his game which is the only way he sticks in the league. It’s been beneficial to him not a negative, IMO.

What different Roles has Grant Williams had? I see a guy that's a backup PF asked to play d and sit at the three point line to provide spacing.

G Williams has been able to get opportunities because he does the little things that role players need to do to stay on the floor, mostly on D. Now he is starting to do some of the bigger things like actually hit open shots and contribute offensively. I think he can continue to carve out a role and be important to what this team does this year, good to see.
In regards to Brown and his knee, I hope it is just part of his recovery and the knee gets stronger in time. The fact he played 45 minutes in a dbl OT game may have led to some added soreness, we can hope that is all it is.
I think the combo of Smart and Schroeder could be very good, they are very different players but could be good on D together.

Williams also, seemingly, focused on his body a lot more this offseason. Seems much stronger and more athletic (based solely on appearance, mind you).
I think I'd read that, after the Udoka announcement, he contacted the coach and asked what he wanted to see from him.

Brown in; Horford/Langford out tonight. Guessing we'll see that same opening night lineup tonight? (SSS warning but that looks to be one of the better 5-man groupings this year).
Meanwhile, Rozier and Washington are out for the Hornets.
EDIT - Nope. Schroder starting as C's are going small.

Ball movement is much better this season for Celtics.
Lamelo is an awesome player. His swing skill was shooting and it looks like he can really shoot it. Also clearly taller than Gordon Hayward.

Apparently defense ain’t part of Ime’s game plan.

So if Jabari can’t score, why is he in the game? He is a total liability defensively.

This is looking like a .500 basketball team. This was always going to be a rebuilding team. They need to develop Pritchard and Nesmith and maybe Romeo (although I’m skeptical). There aren’t enough guys who can make open shots and there are definitely not enough guys who can create and make open shots.

The Celtics are in free fall, and Ime doesn’t even bring Tatum in coming out of a timeout.
Cannot say enough bad things about the job he’s done to start this season. F- all around.

Apparently defense ain’t part of Ime’s game plan. The defensive rebounding is a problem, and other than playing Kanter, I’m not sure what you can do to fix it.
