After Houston tonight........ 4 Seattle at home, 3 CWS at home, 5 Baltimore at home, 2 Cincy at home, 3 at Oakland, 4 at LAA. The 17 games between tonight and LAA.... have to go 12-5 then split LAA to go 14-7. Every game under that put a nail in our coffin IMHO

Wonder if Duran will find his way up to Boston soon with the OF’s constant offensive struggles.

To make the playoffs (most likely) Sox need to finish 55% (89 wins) minimally to 60% (97 wins). The middle is 94 wins. That is probably going to be the case based on where teams are now. That means the Sox have to go 80-46 the rest of the way to most likely make the playoffs. That is a 63.5 winning percent. That means they basically have to play at a 103 win pace the rest of the waym the magical 2018 team only won 108. They almost have to match that to get in the playoffs. If they do not win 14+ of the next 20 games (70%) to get on track.... they are pretty doomed IMHO. When does the front office pull the plug? If we are only 50% over the bext 20? Obviously if we are under 50%? 94 wins to make the playoffs seems more like a high-end possibility. I saw an estimate somewhere that 88-90 wins was most likely. But they would still need to win 60% of their games the rest of the way to get there.

I kinda get the sense that Odorizzi has been subjected to some intense bullying inside the Astros clubhouse over his his reaction to a mild hammy pull the clubhouse is the least of his concerns. The real bullying will come from members of the Sox prospects gameday thread who careers as burgeoning podiatrists are now completely shuttered due to diagnosis malpractice.

But they would still need to win 60% of their games the rest of the way to get there. The midpoint between 89 and 97 is 93, which is one more than they won last year with a pretty similar roster. Last year they came out hot and swooned in late summer. This year, they're swooning now and could very well run a 63% pace the rest of the year. Hell, the MFYs are at 75% right now, pounding on all cylinders.
Maybe Schreiber and Strahm can solidify the back end of the bullpen. Maybe Bello, Seabold, Winck, can push guys like Sawamura, Brasier and Diekman down the totem pole. If one of Sale or Paxton comes back with guns blazing, that's another chump like Davis or Barnes who gets displaced. So many bats have underperformed that some are bound to rebound. Reinforcements like Fitzy, Refsnyder, Duran, are crushing in AAA. Casas and even Downs are not far behind.
We're not even a month and a half into the season and @incan is right: there are 7 playoff spots and it's likely that 89 or 90 will get you into the tournament. And once you're there, all you need to do is win, and what you did in April and May is irrelevant. In a marathon, it's not how you start, it's your kick to the finish.
LFG!

I dont get how this guy can keep bringing his hand to his mouth while he is on the mound. I thought that was against the rules, unless allowance is made for both teams.

Those fans should be ejected for not doing their job. Does anyone remember Ortiz’s walkoff against BJ Ryan in 2005? During that AB a fan reached for a foul ball to prevent the catcher (think it was Lopez) from catching it then Ortiz hit the 3-run walkoff
