The thing that you’re missing is these rankings matter very, very little. Unless they're getting paid the same, I would think the ratings mean a little. It's not set in stone that one guy will be better than the other, but one is pre-ranked and paid more because they assume that one will be better than the other. I know Hanley was a guy that popped up out of nowhere. They spend all their bonus pool money ever year. It's certainly not obvious that putting all your eggs in one basket is better than spreading it around. Nobody really knows anything, so just sit back and root for these kids to turn into stars.

Just a look at our 2017-2018 signing period will show 5 players making over $100k (with 2 making $3M combined) and all of them being released without reaching the majors (not counting Daniel Flores for obvious reasons) and Brayan Bello seems to be our diamond at $28k and Gilberto Jimenez and Ceddane Rafaela at $10k.
From 2015-2016 our top prospect was Bryan Mata at $25k.

So if it's the case that Ruiz's deal was cancelled at the last minute for some reason, is it going to be a challenge to find something else to do with $1+ million?

From 2015-2016 our top prospect was Bryan Mata at $25k. If/when they put me in charge, I'm going to build a much larger academy in the DR, big enough to accommodate 6-8 full teams of kids and fill them with as many 4-figure and low-5-figure bonuses as I can (not at the expense of the occasional $1.5m bonus baby like Bleis, though) and run our own mini-league to identify as many Bellos and Rafaelas and Matas as possible.

Cespedes has officially been signed, per the Red Sox transactions. And his name is apparently spelled Yoeilin.

Oh yeah? Well I'm going to intern at a maternity ward in the DR and wrap all of the babies in Red Sox towels and negotiate 4 figure deals with all of the parents.

Looks like there are about 100,000 males born in the DR each year. Offer a $1,000 singing bonus to each one at birth (most parents would take that I would think!) and for $100,000,000 a year you could have the rights to the entire cohort of future Dominican players. Easily worth it.

Can't be him. The signing period is only for international amateurs. Plus, it looks like that player is still with the Mariners.

Still radio silence of Ruiz? Ordinarily the delay would not be worrying, but for the fact that MLB's Jesse Sanchez dropped the Sox from his name in the bonus board In September, Ruiz's MLB write up was forum.soxprospects.com/post/568056it now reads www.mlb.com/news/mets-2023-international-prospects-signings?t=mlb-pipeline-coverageI believe the BA tracker doesn't list the Sox next to Ruiz (not a subscriber, but thought I saw the list with a gap now) With deals locked in well in advance, can another team find a million plus to give to Ruiz? Can the Sox pivot to spend the money elsewhere? Was there an issue so that Ruiz is no longer a million guy?

With the known signings of Cespedes ($1,400,000), Arias ($525,000), Y. Ruiz ($500,000), and Sanchez ($150,000), the Red Sox have $2,069,000 left in their bonus pool. They are allowed to trade for more $$$.
