You don't get praise as an OC for putting up 3 offensive points without turning the ball over. They had a nice offensive game against Minnesota. Unfortunately, it seems the defense might be frauds. The Vikings were a team with a negative differential before this game. They have a very soft pass defense. 276.1 YPG-32nd PFF Pass rush: 73.8-11th PFF Coverage: 59.1 21st DVOA: 10.8%-19th Their rush defense is a bit better. 114.6 YPG-13th PFF: 85.3-2nd DVOA: -8.2%-13th Mac is playing a lot better though. That can't be ignored, but the Vikings aren't a very good defense and they only scored 3 offensive points the week before. What do you look at results or what they are doing? I'm not looking at results and I'm taking context into account. Our OC and QB coach fixed Mac Jones, went from horrible to career high in yards, one of his best games as a pro. The only difference between the two games is no Jets D and defensive line. Everyone complained the offense didn't fit Mac Jones, they have totally redone it. That doesn't deserve praise? The results aren't going to be great till you fix the OL. Even against the Vikings we can't run like we did last year. I mean look at Brady with a shaky OL and no ability to run. The stat I like more is Mac Jones the last two weeks put up the 2nd most passing yards against the Jets and Vikings D for the year. All year it's our OC and QB coach suck, when the bigger issue is the OL sucks. Bills biggest mistake wasn't those two, it's what he did to the OL. Mac is still taking horrible sacks and yes, you can say the Jets game was a step in the right direction, but when the offense can only put up 3 points it's hard to call it a good game, even if Folk hit those 2 other field goals. Didn't they also fail to convert a single 3rd down? The Minnesota game was a tremendous game, but it was against one of the leagues worst pass defenses. I don't like dinging a guy for his quality of opponent because you can only play your schedule, but it is still a caveat. This is what people were saying about Zappe putting up numbers, bad defenses. I'm also cautious about getting too hyped up when we just witnessed Mike White look like an MVP. As Scott Zolak would say, "I was the AFC player of the week, like twice". It's all about seeing if Mac and the offense can be consistent now and with no Von Miller he should have an easier time getting into a rhythm. The OL still falls on Patricia, isn't that his official title? He's had 1 solid OL all year that includes a 1st round pick. I know Scar is the GOAT, but we've seen him turn dirt into gold. I do agree that Bill not only hired a guy out of position, but he also tied one arm behind his back. He's easily becoming the worst GM in football. I'm going to the game so I'm hoping Mac can drop 50. |

I am just not convinced Mac is the guy. He seems slow, sluggish decision making, some flawed decisions under pressure. I know he's young and the O line is leaky...but I have serious doubts about him.
