At this point in the season, it's literally impossible for me to feel bad about a game where Bello dominated the Yankees and nobody suffered a devastating injury

Almonte looks like some guy they found in the souvenir shop. Embarrassing . Looks like they didn’t have a uniform or shoes to fit him. I think I heard he was in his 30s so I guess they are being nice and giving him days in the show Bloom has a love affair reclamation projects. He will occasionally get a nice find. In many cases these guys didnt have jobs for a reason.

Other than the short COVID season, how normal is it for the Sox to not have a single player with 100 RBI’s on the season?

Come on, JDM. Jump in. I'll drive you to the airport. Can't wait until this guy is gone. The way some of you guys talk about our players really sucks. JD is washed, but he’s been a really good Red Sox for 5 years. No, he hasn't. He was great in 2018 and 2019, took 2020 off, and got off to decent starts in 2021 and 2022 before turning useless for most of the season. If you give him 2021 as a "really good" season - and I think that's a stretch - he's been good for three of the five seasons. By his own admission he showed up for the resumption of the 2020 season out of shape and unprepared to play. I have trouble with an employee making $22M unprepared to go to work and that has colored my view of him ever since. I'm sorry if that's too old-school for you. His contributions to the 2018 team make him a good FA signing, IMO. But for the reasons stated above and others, I'll still be glad when he's out of here.

After that debacle in cf good for Almonte. Btw, JD would have been safe with the bigger bases lol

Now tied with the Giants for #13, but we own the tiebreak since they had a better record last year

My summary of season… just realized we got swept in Fenway by Yankees. Shows how low they are that I just don’t care.

For a second I thought Palbo Sandoval was in CF. Seriously. Almonte is built like a football player, but he dribbled that ball like a basketball player and almost kicked it like a soccer player.

The worst part for me is I not only have to watch the Red Sox lose to the MFYs, but I also don't get the enjoyment I get on other nights when I turn on the post-game show on YES and see all the long faces.

But the '72 team went down to the final series of the season and dropped two of three to the Tigers to lose the division by 1/2 game. It's amazing they made it that far with their top RBI man knocking in only 75.

There were clearly some dry spells!

Well, we ended up at nearly 12 pages in a meaningless series with the MFY. Not bad - the baseball was bad, though!

Big thing we learned in this game was that Statcast is pre-loaded with a pitcher's known arsenal -- because Bello says he threw two curveballs in this game, and they were really easy to identify from among his "sliders," using vertical movement and velocity. Slider vertical break in this game averaged 39" (including gravity), max 44", and these two were 53" and 54". They were also the two slowest of his "sliders", at an average of 80.5 versus 84.5 for the slider.
If you have the game recorded, go to 47:13, 1-0 count on Hicks in the 3rd, and 1:27:55, 0-2 count on Hicks in the 5th.
First thing you'll notice is that Wong, each time, take an unusually long time poking around on PitchCom.
His first pro curve was in the dirt. Hicks managed to get his bat on the second and fouled it off the ump.
Looks to me like a pretty good, classic 12 to 6 curve. Maybe someone with a recording and skills I've never heard of it can create a video of the one in the 5th.
NESN had footage of some guy named Hill teaching it to him, and Bello was upbeat about adding it to his repertoire.
