is it just a law of the universe that Bello has to receive the worst defense possible every time he pitches? Sadly, perfect timing on this one.

Wong is a AAAA catcher at best.

This team has had several of the most embarrassing plays I've ever seen from a major league team lol

Wong is a AAAA catcher at best. Nice timing on that comment, too, right before he has one of the best hit balls of the evening.

On a serious note, I saw people taking umbrage that Judge's HR quest isn't getting the coverage it deserves, and I have to wonder if recency bias towards record breaking achievements due to past performance enhancement accusations on others makes these kind of things ho-hum for the average fan. The average sports fan just doesn’t care about baseball anymore, in general. NFL is still the king and MLB was passed by the NBA long ago, as well. Even MMA is probably more popular at this point. If a guy on the friggin’ Yankees isn’t getting enough attention, this is probably part of the reason why. Also, 60 & 61 aren’t as magical as they used to be. Based on ratings of championship rounds (Finals vs. World Series), I wouldn’t say the NBA has passed MLB, yet both are fairly close. But both really struggle to get viewers compared to even ten years ago. Frankly, all sports are struggling to get attention compared to the 1990s, except for maybe football. The NBA Finals which had two big market teams with big name stars got only a 6.6 rating and that was UP over 20% from 2021. American attention has diversified a great deal in the last couple of decades, and it’s not limited to sports. Compare the Ratings of Kimble, Colbert, and Fallon to Leno and Letterman (and compare Leno/Letterman to Carson). Scripted shows do no better. If Aaron Judge had a chance at the actual record, it would get attention, but it wouldn’t captivate the nation like McGwire and Sosa or Maris/Mantle or Barry Bonds.

Wong is a AAAA catcher at best. I've always thought they should get him out from behind the plate and put his athleticism to use as a utility guy. He could develop into a player capable of filling in at 2B, 3B and in the OF. I'd rather have a solid utility player than a dime-a-dozen backup C. If they keep him at C for a few years, he'll lose one of his main athletic attributes, which is his speed.

Is there a more disappointing .300 batter on the season than Bogaerts?

Xander is having such a weird .300+ season. It doesn't impact much at all for the team.

The team has been tough to watch all year, but this is about as unenjoyable as it gets for this season.
