I feel like I have Bloom's patience with guys like Familia/Robles/Braiser. The stuff always reels me in and I like having a guy I feel can go on a 2 month run of domination. I get the obsession with lightning in a bottle. Hard way to win games waiting for lightning to strike though.

It's one thing to have one guy like that, I can get behind that thought but when most of the bullpen feels like that type of guy it's not going to get the job done.

Raffy sucked ass tonight. Kinda sucked for a decent stretch now. End of last year he had begun to put together great at-bats. Seems his discipline has regressed, and when slumps happen he just lacks impact offensively. Hope he can find that balance of selective aggression again.

Devers can get out his mess if he learned to narrow down the strikezone. He didn't get more than 2 strikes last night in the zone.

Much like players can have bad years, I believe Cora has had a terrible year. We’ve seen it all season. But pitching to Judge is just inexcusable. Just walk him and let the rest of that mediocre lineup beat you.

Well, at least we won't have to suffer through Familia any longer. Dude just couldn't throw strikes and when he finally did they were right down Broadway.

The hate over bringing in Familia is a little much. The guy pitched 10 innings and was released. He was pretty good as far back as one season ago.
The thing they was awkward was that they signed him when they were trying to make the playoffs, and by the time he came up they were already dead so there was no longer much of a point in having this pending free agent pitch for you.

Familia sucked, yes, but who should they have brought in? They’d used Schrieber, Barnes, Whitlock, and even Brasier. Maybe Strahm, if he was even available, but, I mean, they were basically tapped. The fact is, the first three guys are the only ones that are even halfway secure, and in this instance Whitlock blew it. I don’t think this is so much Cora’s mistake as a sign of a thin bullpen.

This is on Bloom. No one held a gun to his head and made him sign Famiilia. He gave Familia another chance at pitching in the bigs. What's Familkia going to say? "No thank you, I don't feel I'm good enough any more".

Unfortunately it seems like thats the entire sox bullpen outside of Whitlock. Familia should have been DFAed after the Tampa game. German should be up by now.

I am trying to figure out what the strategy is - what are the Sox doing with these last games? Roster pitchers who don't belong (Brasier, Familia) getting innings (thankfully Familia is gone - but why not elevate German)? Why get Familia in the first place - Phila, fighting for a playoff spot, knew he was cooked - as did the Mets previously. Why not Kelly last night in a big spot? Then - Hill, Eovaldi (soon) - why not Winck? Seabold? Why is JD getting ABs? Plawecki?
Just seems to me that they can get a jump on figuring out what they have while they play out the season. Seems they are caught between thinking they can still sneak in, and realizing they can't, but the in game and roster moves are a bit baffling.

Kelly Fine. You can say bring in the 27-year old rookie, but the first time he goes nuclear, he’ll be getting the same treatment around here. There was a time people loved Brasier.

The board is patient with kids showing what they have. It is NOT patient with blown out vets being run out in big games. Kelly has already proven himself to be effective. Last night would have been a good test. Familia was....a waste.

Better than Familia, who everybody with a brain and eyes knows shouldn’t be pitching in that spot. At least with Kelly there is some mystery and he can maybe do it, Familia is hopeless

Been working 70+ hours the last couple of weeks and have had to miss a lot of baseball. I didn’t realize until right now that Casas has yet to hit a line drive

Was hit very well. I believe they said it would have been a HR in every other ballpark. Casas certainly hasn't torn things up but he has very good plate discipline and is progressing.....future is bright!
