They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

The Braves will face the winner of the STL-PHI series while the Dodgers will probably face the Mets. The Yankees will face the CLE-TB winner while the Astros will probably face the Blue Jays.
Under this dumb system it's clearly better to be the #2 seed than #1, and better to be #6 than #5. On top of diluting the importance of the regular season by having so many teams make the playoffs, it doesn't even reward the teams that were best in the regular season.

I don't see the downside to allowing the top seeds to pick their opponents, it'd be an extra reward for teams with the best records. This current system isn't more fair or interesting, and this year isn't some glitch.

Wow. 4 games a day.
I will laugh so hard if the first series the MFY get dropped after all that this year. I can live with Betts getting a title over the MFY’S.

I thought I might feel ambivalent about these AL series because the Rays and Jays would potentially offer the toughest competition for the Yankees, but no, I'm finding it extremely easy to root against both of them.
(And also root for Terry Francona and the city of Seattle, which are two things that I like.)

Weird seeding aside, I feel like they got expanded playoffs right this time around. Expanding to get the one-game playoff sucked. Going all in at the deadline for a chance at a one game play in makes no sense.
Four different three game series is pretty exhilarating as a baseball fan and allows each team to flex their whole top half of the rotation.

Darvish owns the Mets, made some money off of that so that’s nice

Somehow I thought in these three-game series with no travel, that the visiting team would be the “home team” and bat last in the middle game of the set.

I wonder if the majority of the board wants Dombrowski to win the WS. Ha.

I wonder if the majority of the board wants Dombrowski to win the WS. Ha. In order of preference: 1. Franconas 2. Mets (wife's family are fans) 3 - 9 - all the same 10 Dodgers 11. Cardinals (don't need them winning a third 21st century title and closing in on us 12. Drum roll, please: the M! F! Y's!

The Sox deserve to be toasted but this went both ways to me. No sinners, no saints. Each side did what was in it's own selfish interest. That's a market economy.

You know Tearsin04. You spot on Tito getting another one would be sweet. I felt bad when they lost to the Cubs I thought they were getting that one.

Well… bases loaded, no outs, best player up — and no runs. Not good.

You know Tearsin04. You spot on Tito getting another one would be sweet. I felt bad when they lost to the Cubs I thought they were getting that one. I think every manager who won three WS, except for Bruce Bochy, who hasn't been eligible yet, is in the HOF. Tito might make it even without winning a third ring. But a third would clinch it.

The MFY have the easiest path to the pennant. The Mariners are definitely the best of the 4 AL teams in the WC round (although they have had issues against the Astros this year).
Hopefully Tito can pull off an upset against the MFY

Guardians vs Rays head to the 10th.....Why is the Ghost runner not appropriate for playoff games but it is for regular season games??
